Azzurri Italian Restaurant

My wife and I went here for dinner because we had seen good reviews for it online. We ordered bacon cheese fries to start with and they came half the fries with a nice melted mozzarella cheese on top but the other half had 2 slices of yellow government cheese on top that wasn't melted or appealing at all. We almost left at that moment but we stuck it out, saying it has to get better than that. My wife ordered chicken parmesan and it looked and tasted like a pre breaded frozen chicken sandwich, she didn't finish it all, good thing for the salad on the side. I ordered the bacon and chicken calzone and that was pretty good, I just wish it was a bit crunchier but not bad. The garlic knots that came in the beginning were tasty but very cold and we didn't finish them either. The service was okay, the food didn't seem authentic at all. The decor was old and the walls were damaged quite a bit and the ceiling was dirty. We tried but that was the last time we will be going there.

This is for far the best and authentic Italian restaurant in Virginia. Good food, affordable prices and a cozy atmosphere. The bread with olive oil is supreme 👌 😍. The owner and staff are so nice that invite to stay there for a while and come back again and again. First time there, now my spot in NN.

This place was highly recommended. I made a reservation for a group using Google’s reservation option on the website but was told they didn’t have it in their system, despite me receiving an email confirmation. However, even though they didn’t have it, they still were able to make the reservation for me to accommodate my group. When we got there, the older lady who received us was very pleasant and seemed genuinely happy we were there. My husband and I were the first two people there out of our group and were seated in our reserved area. They told us that there weren’t enough menus for the table but that was fine because our group hadn’t arrived yet. Our group took longer to arrive than expected due to the wedding we were celebrating, so I was concerned that we would be asked to leave or be reseated once they all arrived. But we weren’t, so I thought everything would be fine. Our server came over and had the exact opposite response of the lady who greeted us. During our entire visit, she made us feel unwelcomed and unwanted.

They constantly reached over my parents invading their personal space when passing out food. The server sat a water container for us to serve our own waters. When I discussed her behavior with the manager Sarah (sp?), she said that our server had been talked to before about her attitude and disposition but that she had just had a baby and was working a long shift today. In addition, it was CNU’s family night and they weren’t prepared for the busyness. The manager apologized and told us to come back and just ask for her by name.

I’m not sure what my group could’ve done differently because we didn’t just walk in as a large party, we weren’t rowdy or disrespectful, and we didn’t make a scene. I’m not sure why we were treated this way. I’ve been pregnant and worked in food service before, and in no way did I EVER make a guest feel how that young lady made us feel.

My husband wants to come back and give it another try because of the fact that this restaurant was recommended so highly I’d rather DoorDash.

This establishment has pretty decent food. However, from my experience the the servers are not too privy to people of a darker persuasion. Some things you just have to leave to the lighter community.

I have came many times to this restaurant and had pizzas. The servers were very friendly and helpful. The taste and the atmosphere of the place were excellent. The prices were also very affordable. I definitely recommend visiting!

Best Italian on the peninsula

My only regret is not having dined here sooner! I ordered the Shrimp Parmesan and it tasted exactly like the comfort food you’re craving from a family-owned Italian restaurant. The portions are generous for the price point. We have a new family favorite!

Our first time there and we were completely blown away. The food was excellent and the prices were even better. Our only knock on our visit was our server. Don't know if she was just having an off day but we got minimal service and it was like she couldn't even make eye contact with us. That aside we will definitely be back.

We heard great things about this restaurant but not so much for me. My husband had the Lasagna, and said it was ok., I had a over lemony, Chicken Piccata. So over powering with lemon the capers couldn't compete. We like to go to late lunches when we try new restaurants, maybe that's why the service was lack luster.
