The most important thing in a restaurant is how good the food is. The food was awful. That was one of the worst burgers I have ever had, and the worst one I’ve had sold to me. They don’t know how to use spices/herbs and they don’t know how to properly cook. Apparently they do know how to make coffee. They also like to make sure that the tip comes in after tax, sneakily increasing the tip.

I’ve never seen my wife finish her entire meal until we ate here. It wasn’t because of a small portion; it was just that good.

I love the Commune in Norfolk. I had been consistently visiting there since 2019 until Covid shut things down and robbed everyone of the pleasure. I love the food and was excited to take my mother and aunt to this spot that I love when I found out that they were open again. We dined there on 12/23 and it was as good as I remembered. Hadn't missed a step. My ladies were very pleased with their food and are excited to make it a part of their future breakfasts together. I moved from the area in '19 but always make it a point to visit everytime I am in town.Keep going strong guys and I'll keep coming back. Thank you

My sister recently threw me a baby sprinkle here and everything was absolutely perfect! The event space was private yet lively as it opened to the rest of the restaurant which was fun and the service was spectacular. The food & beverages were perfectly curated and delicious. Thanks Commune!

While in the Neon District, I stopped off at the Commune to grab a quick lunch. This was my first time visiting and loved the menu options. I ordered the chicken and dumpling soup and the big Backyard salad. The portion size of the salad was more than I could eat. The chicken and dumpling was pretty good had to add some pepper and wish I had more dumplings. The backyard salad was amazing everything was fresh and seasoned well. I love the presentation of the food and colors. The ginger soda was tasty as well.

Was in town looking for a good spot for dinner and heard about Commune. My party and I went during business hours, paid for parking, brought our empty bellies only to be disappointed. When we got to the door there was a cute little handwritten sign stating that they left early today. Wow!

Idk…..I didn’t hate it but I also did NOT LOVE IT!I would have appreciated the small things like coke products and regular hot sauce I mean come on it’s the south. The place was really cute, calm, and cozy and our waitress was the sweetest and gave recommendations. I probably wouldn’t come back tho unfortunately! Not worth the price at all.

Cute cozy rustic restaurant. Feels like farm to table already..seating area open to the kitchen counter . Large sofas are in the corner with a TV streaming fireplace for great ambiance. I was seated right away. Took about 7 minutes for waitress to come over , she apologized for the wait which was cool and sign of awareness. I ordered the fried rice bowl since I wanted great combination of greens, protein and yes, carbs! Asked the waitress if it’s good and she commented how delicious it is - cross fingers, of which I got complimented for my nice nail color lol!!There seems to be a good mix of locals and tourists. Great for large group or intimate or romantic (however romantic you can get over brunch and cocktail selections! It’s taken 15 minutes for my order but at least my water was being refilled. I hear the chef ring the bell, hope that’s my order! And sure it was! This was the most flavorful fried rice bowl I’ve tasted in Hampton roads area! Even better than the place that rhymes with Locktrot!Too bad the tips are shared amongst all waiters staff, I had wanted to give my waitress 100% tip , I even asked if she would entertain pocketing it, what an honest one! 10 stars for character.

The space has plenty of space for seating. There’s a cute lounge area, a semi private long table behind an open wall, and a kids play kitchen to keep the kids busy while you lounge on the leather tufted couch. Quick service, the lavender burnt honey is well made (I did ask for moire lavender which made it perfect) and the food was good, the potatoes came out burnt but was quickly remade and crispy. The collard greens were ok (added some in house hot sauce and a little salt). Service is always quick and friendly. It’s a great local restaurant with a nice ambiance, parking out front and throughout the neighborhood (depending on the day front parking is available. Steps away from the door)Vegetarian options: Cheese board, oyster mushroom, grits, & moreDietary restrictions: They are very accommodating with many restrictions. Just askParking: Depending on the day and time. Both times we came into the street we headed directly to a parking spot.Kid-friendliness: Play kitchen available. High chairs also available.Wheelchair accessibility: No steps.
