Once upon a time customer service was taken seriously but not so much when you have incompetent managers who lack empathy. So look- I eat here all the time but I had an older lady pick up my food for the first time. I called back the representative and said make sure you hand her the limeade she's an older lady and not aware- ok. Yes so I received my food with no limeade. I called and spoke to a manager and suggested a solution for having this lady come all the way back for an over priced drink by him gesturing a complimentary plantains/ future credit/ something. The manager said no with no care. That careless insult brings me here. Jamaica house you know what that says right?!= you value a $2 cost, over a lifetime customer & your brand/reputation. Such a dumb decision that will now have consequences more than $2. I make decisions like this everyday with my customers. I'm talking hundreds of dollars decisions, because relationships matter over money. Money comes, money goes & your establishment/ managers needs to learn what's valuable. Employees can mess up like this but never managers. This was an easy fix and I was assisting him on finding a solution in a calm tone, ha- to no avail. Meanwhile- I will take my business elsewhere for a while! ✌🏾

There's a running joke that the worse the customer service is at a Caribbean restaurant, the better the food will be. That is not the case here. Because the service I received today was horrid and the food was average. What's worse is: I asked for extra gravy with my ox tails and didn't get it. This is the second time this has happened. It will also be the last because I ain't going back.
The woman working the register had an attitude with a customer placing an order over the phone and then she copped an attitude with me. What was the reason? I tell you this: negative energy like that will leave a bad taste in your mouth and that's no good when you run a restaurant.

If Jamaica House is going to offer the option to order online, it should also provide the option to dine in, rather than forcing patrons to take out. I had asked to dine in after submitting my order, and the management would not concede. The manager told my party of 4 we could sit at the high counter, which clearly had 2 high chairs present, not enough for four individuals. Or we could sit outside, while in the midst of heavy rainfall. This is the same manager that other reviewers are complaining about; he will be the downfall of this business if not properly trained or removed. I will not be purchasing from this establishment again. Jamaican food is a dime a dozen around Richmond.
Sooooo good and huge portions for the price!!

Was on my way there calling to place order and they answered the phone and hung up just 5 minutes ago. I turned around and going somewhere else.

The food here is very close to being authentic, I’m not sure if there are different chefs on different days but sometimes it’s a hit and a next time it’s kind of bland.
My other issue is that because it is nestled in the heart of the downtown area, parking is a tad bit hard to get.
Nonetheless, this is my go to spot when I’m in the area.

The quality of food used to be better. I'm not sure what happened if they changed the cook or what, but that Jamaican flavor is no longer there, catering to the crowd or the right crowd because of the money food bland, akee where is the salt fish... and the Red snapper is fishy, for it to be a carribean resturnant the fish too fishy,, if I wanted american food where they dont clean the fish properly then thats what I would have gotten that...little lime juice and proper seasoning wouldnt hurt...It is a Jamaican restaurant 🤔

Total spent $49. 2 large Curry chicken, one chicken patty, 2 coco breads. 3 lemonades.
We stopped by this evening expecting a good meal. Sadly I was extremely disappointed. The young lady who took our order was kind and polite. The Latino man who delivered our food was NOT. He brought me a beef patty instead of chicken to which I didn’t realize it until after I had already took a bite and ate it. I have a beef allergy and immediately called this to his attention. He absolutely showed NO concern and condescendingly replied “oh so what do you want, a chicken patty”. What an A hole!
The cabbage was severely undercooked I could barely chew it. I am not a horse or donkey and my bite strength just couldn’t handle the toughness. The curry was not hot at all, Just warm. Overall, we sat for about ten minutes and then asked for two boxes and the same Latino man had the audacity to act as if he was doing us a favor and damn near didn’t even want to give us boxes. We ate about 10% of what was on our plates and he tried to give us a little teeny box.
Atmosphere was sketchy! Homeless people right outside the door pandering and two people sitting inside across from us doped up out of their minds!
I really use to love this place but I will not be back. They just lost a customer who has been coming here since before they moved and for well over a decade! I wish I could get my money and time back! What a waste
