The owner, Michael, and his entire staff are incredibly professional & provide wonderful services. Everyone at our wedding commented on how amazing our cocktail hour & reception food was! Not a single item on the menu was anything less than delicious. Michael welcomed my husband & I in for a tasting early in the process which was equally delightful -- himself & his staff were again so kind & professional. Every little change that came up during the planning process leading up to wedding day was quickly included & noted by Michael & team. We appreciate how accommodating & flexible this team was on a day where there are so many little details. We cannot stress how highly we recommend Helga's for your wedding. Helga’s was incredible to work with for our wedding. We selected the barbecue, for our rehearsal dinner, and created our own menu for the reception. Michael, Chrissy and team were very flexible throughout the entire process, any time I had an adjustment it was certainly we can do that. Their service during the event was immaculate, their presentation of food was gorgeous and the taste was incredible. They were prompt in their arrivals, and went the extra mile to make sure our guests were happy. Thank you all so very much for filling our belly’s on our special day!

The food from Helga’s was great. We enjoyed every bite (and the leftovers), and all of our guests raved about it. Some even went back for seconds! However, as hard as this is for me to write because the owner was so great, the service staff the night of our wedding was atrocious. The bartenders did not seem to have the faintest idea how to make any mixed drink / cocktail. Something as simple as a gin and tonic, guests were given vodka instead. They used the wrong mixers, told guests we didn’t have a certain alcohol even though it was right in front of them, and poured incredibly heavily. We stocked our own bar and ended up returning 90% of our mixers and only 4 bottles of liquor. This may sound like the opposite of a problem to some people, but when it comes to the safety of our guests, it was very concerning when I learned about all of this. Again, the food was very tasty, but it is incredibly mortifying to have paid for what was supposed to be a high level of service to learn that my guests had to teach the bartenders how to make simple mixed drinks or to show them where the drinks were. I also provided my own silverware and plates, (which we still have a lot of leftovers) and left everything for the caterers to use while prepping dinner. A guest dropped a fork, asked for a new one, and it took 20 minutes to get it. How could it take 20 minutes to find a fork that you put away yourself? They knew where they were. All around, a terrible experience when it came to the rest of the staff. We got the Greek meal and people raved about the food! He was also very flexible when we wanted to change up the menu to incorporate some family recipes and adapt to unique layout of the venue. Michael and his team did a phenomenal job catering our wedding at Briar Patch. Michael was extremely helpful with coordinating the menu and logistics as he accommodated all the allergens and substitutions for food.We got the dinner menu with the Intermezzo, which worked out great for the kids and provided a bit of laughter around the table for our guests as they thought that they got dessert after salads.The staff who served my wife and I before the wedding helped us get an actual meal before the wedding reception, and we loved being able to try everything that we picked out AND that the food wouldn't be in any group pictures with our guests. My family told me post wedding how great the staff was as well, so I'm thankful that all aspects of our wedding, both what we saw and what we didn't were enjoyed by all our guests.

Helgas catering was such a highlight of our wedding day. Wedding planning is typically stressful, but Helgas took stress from our lives in every way imaginable. The service we received from Michael and his team is top notch. Any time I'd have a random thought or stressor, Michael would simply smile and provide a list of every way he could make our wedding perfect. He is flexible, patient, and exactly the type of person you want to work with. The value of the food that Helgas provides is unmatched. Our dinner was phenomenal, and guests enthusiastically took every opportunity for seconds. One of the most beautiful surprises was just how gorgeous our cocktail hour was. Michael described to us a spread of fruits, cheeses, vegetables, breads, and crab dip, but oh MY was it beautiful and so much more than expected. They added touches of fresh greenery to the buffet tables, and they arranged the appetizers to where it was almost too pretty to touch. They also took our cookie table tradition with stride, and took our 2,000+ homemade cookies and arranged them in a stunning display. We actually forgot to grab our small tray of leftovers from dinner after we stayed the night at our venue, and we drove over an hour back to our venue to grab them because the food was just that good! Helgas took such care of everyone, with extra attention to my husband and me as we were immediately brought a tray with every drink we could think to choose from and a plentiful spread of appetizers during cocktail hour. Despite having a buffet, Helgas served my husband and me the whole night, making sure that we were treated like royalty. Our guests can't stop talking about the food, and we are so grateful for Michael and his team for all of their help.

We recently had the pleasure of having Helga's Catering cater my husband's birthday party. We have had Helga's catering in the past, and we were happy to have them again. They were so attentive and professional and made our party hassle free. The team was extremely helpful in troubleshooting a problem we had with our tent (which they didn't even have to do, but were kind enough to help!!). They were thoughtful with organizing food, displaying it and plating it and thinking a step ahead, for example, having a cake knife ready to cut the cake before i even thought about it. The presentation of food was lovely and the food tasted great. They also did an amazing job with cleanup. We hope to see you again in the future, Chrissy, Gerald, Cesar, and Carlos!!! I organized a family event with Helga's Caterers back in early 2020 as part of a special weekend celebration at Arlington National Cemetery. The staff was extremely helpful in helping me choose from the many wonderful menu options available. Needless to say, once COVID-19 hit and things were shut down, our event at ANC was cancelled and rescheduled...not one time, but three times between April 2020 and April 2021! I was so very grateful to Helga's for sticking with me during the uncertain time. Finally, on April 10, 2021, we held a modified version of our original event. Two of Helga's best employees/servers (Gerald and Mario) came to our private rental home in Washington, DC and set up the best garden party we could have imagined! They were true experts in their fields...from serving passed hors d'oeuvres to handling the bar, to carving the beef tenderloin! But enough about the fantastic staff...it was the wonderful and delicious food that took center stage! Everyone at our party raved about all of the food. Seriously, it was THAT GOOD! The night turned out to be everything I had hoped for and more. I only hope that at some point I will need to be in the DC area again and need catering...I will definitely choose Helga's Catering! I would most definitely recommend their services to any group, small, medium or large. They will handle it professionally and you won't be sorry! Thank you!!

I’m so grateful to Michael and his excellent team. With Covid our wedding plans had to be drastically modified and Helgas was the only vendor that worked with us to find a solution that worked for everyone. The communication throughout the process was amazing and food was delivered on time and setup quickly. In addition to the amazing service and communication, the food was excellent and all of our guests loved it! This was probably the only part of our wedding plans that worked out and I’m so thankful that we have at least this piece to remember our special day.
