My husband and I went to the Sunflower on our very first date in 2009. We went back again for our first anniversary and just went back again to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary even though we've since moved out of state. We were met with the same friendly service and memorable tasting experience. Thank you for celebrating with us and being a part of our story! ?
Been here a few times over the past years and have always ordered mostly the same thing- general tsos chicken. Service was always good when I went before the pandemic. Tonight I went outside and tried something new- the Japanese bbq kabob and the fantasy rolls. Wow! Full of flavor and mouthwatering goodness. Definately worth a try. Will venture out and try more things off their menu now.
11/10!! It was our first time last night and we will definitely be coming back. Our waitress Niecy was the best, she gave us great recommendations and we took her word for it and ate some delicious food. They have so many options for any type of mood you're in so no matter what, try it out!
Recently, we made an order. Uber was supposed to deliver it. The food never came. Never again.
Our first time here and recommended by my girlfriend whose not even vegan. Great service and food. We went with our server's recommendations and were very happy. Portions are large enough to share so get a couple and try! I forgot to take pics except for the chocolate mousse cake and key lime cheesecake!
Sadly, this place is an abomination. I am vegan so this has nothing to do with this place being a vegetarian restaurant. The reality is, the food at this place is terrible, so bad in fact, I couldn’t even finish the meal. This restaurant doesn’t know what it is which is the problem. Instead of focusing on one particular Asian cuisine, they have decided to go on a model where they serve every type of Asian cuisine imaginable: Japanese, Thai, Chinese. The result is a mess since they have no idea what they’re actually doing. The Moo Shoo Vegetable was served like a burrito and with the wrong sauce. The sizzling fried rice was not sizzling and instead served as a hard block of rice with sauce poured on top. The hot and sour soup consisted of a watery broth with hot sauce poured inside. Need I go on? The only thing that was decent was the sushi roll, at least.
This is the "go to" restaurant for Vegetarians and Vegans alike on the Virginia side of the D. C. Beltway area. The food is fresh, nutrient dense, creative and wholesome for the body and mind, with an Asian flare it's pleasing to the palate and the wallet both.
I love this place. Delicious food. Excellent veggie sushi. They have a gluten free menu too.
Amazingly delicious and exquisite experience. The range of flavors is incredible. The seaweed salad is so good, not as strongly seasoned as your regular Korean or Japanese restaurant, the miso soup is not your typical packaged miso, it has a suttle umami taste with a bit of the fermentation taste. The Eggplant in miso chili basil sauce was the most flavorful dish, amazing mix that hits every taste bud in your tongue, I added my seaweed salad to the large plate, had a side veggie patty with it, and the side of rice. It was the perfect combination of flavors. I was not too impressed with the key-lime cheesecake, I don't think they make it there, but hey I cleaned the plate anyway. All staff are so nice and polite, the ambience is so relaxing, I'm here right now and don't want to leave. It's small but cozy. They deserve more than 5 stars and a sunflower, so here:
Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant is one if those gems where you can find excellent food and superb service! They don't hurry you but you don't wait for your food too long! Today I had one of their lunch specials! Very tasty and even those marked with red chillies and you ask for moderate heat, is not hot at all. Not like Thai restaurants where "hot" is a challenge not your heat preference. . I also had their chocolate mousse. Large portion enough for three to share really! Love this restaurant. This is our fourth time or so and every time it just gets better if that's at all possible!

First time diners- we will be back. Extensive menu feels luxurious when so many places have uninspired plant-based options. Our group sampled a soup (Tom yum), sushi, an udon noodle dish, and the sunshine satisfaction special. Recommend for anyone seeking veg or GF food!
Absolutely incredible eating experience. The fantasy roll was legendary, the jujube tea was amazing, they had the best general tso sauce ever and the vegan confetti cake was amazing! Service was awesome as well, Annie even quickly came outside to let us know we had left our bag of food on top of the car. I'm heading back in for more as I write this review!
I really love this place. I haven't been back in a bit because of the pandemic since I was trying to eat at home more. They have updated the decor. They just reopened two months ago. The general tso's surprise lunch special is still just as good as before just a little more expensive. I can't wait to make this a regular stop again even though I moved further away.
