I made a reservation a month ago and received many emails from opentable. The day of, the restaurant told me my reservation never existed and double booked. I had raved about this place to my friends and family for my graduation dinner, only to be disappointed day of. Would not recommend this place.

I had this reservation since early April. When I showed up, they claimed that they never knew of this reservation and booked out the entire place. I had received many emails about my reservation saying it was confirmed. The service was terrible. They were not empathetic and just claimed I was wrong. I even had evidence of the email to show that I did have a reservation. Don't trust this place for any important occasion. You will be disappointed.

Almost all our food (4 people, several courses) was excellent. One entrée was fine, not wonderful. Service was very attentive and friendly. It was too cold to eat outside, but it's a lovely setting and that would have been fun. The interior has tons of character, though.

One of the best prime rib I've ever had. Great bartender. Great vibe.

Ate there this evening, very good food, excellent service, very reasonable price. From MA, 495 area, this would cost twice as much and be half as good. Highly recommend.

The Prime Rib was by far the best that I have had in a restaurant. I don’t usually eat green beans, these were cooked with sautéed onions and were delicious. Excellent service.

We made a reservation for this restaurant as it is very busy due to limited opening times. But our meals were top notch and the service was good. There is limited space to eat so reservations are a must. We have been a couple times and cannot wait go again on our next special occasion.

We drove all the way for a dinner to find they instead had a private holiday party without realizing to block it off on your OpenTable app. Very big oversight indeed. This was our first time we attempted to dine at this restaurant.

We had a fantastic dinner at Tessie's. I had the special maple seared scallops and pork belly with fingerling potatoes. I loved every bit. Couldn't eat it all, too much food but my leftovers reheated perfectly. I got two dinners for the price of one. My husband had the squash raviolis. He was tempted to finish his entire dinner because it too was exceptionally cooked but he decided to bring his home as well. His food also reheated nicely. A well served, well cooked dinner in a tavern like setting which was not overly loud. Can't ask for more than that.

Met a friend here on a weeknight as a good halfway destination for each of us. It was TOO quiet for such a good, comfortable spot, so I promised to talk Tessie's up. Here it is.The bar looked enticing but we passed it up to sit at a window table in the spacious dining room(s). We both picked meatloaf and mashed potatoes and sprouts from the specials.Yum all around! It is lovely and the menu had many tempting items. Good draft beer list leaning to Lawson's, which was good by both of us.Anyway, Bethel folks! Out of towners! Woodstock and Barnard and Pomfret and SoRo and Randolph! People meeting between Montpelier and WRJ... come check out Tessie's. It sounds like it gets busier on the weekends, but it was SO relaxing midweek to not cook and be treated so well with good comfort food in front of us this time of year.

Upscale American comfort food at an affordable price.

Attitude and service is terrible. Meals don’t come out right, missing sides. The owner has no business running a restaurant! Will not be going back.

Not what it used to be.I always loved going to Tessie's Tavern because it is a local restaraunt in my area. Unfortunately since changing owners I feel they have gone down hill. The time I went there I got Horseradish crusted salmon with a lentil balsamic reduction and my husband got pork medallions in an alfredo type sauce with spaghetti, we also tried the mushroom ravioli. First I'll start with the salmon, it was cooked fine, however the "horseradish crust" was more like stuffing to me - kinda mushy and just didn't have the bold flavor I expected from the horseradish. The lentils were suppose to have a balsamic reduction however they were in a thin soupy mess of what tasted like balsamic vinegar. No good flavors. My husband pork dish was even worse. The medallions were like small hockey pucks, no flavor or seasoning and very very dry. The mushroom ravioli also lacked in flavor on the inside filling as well as the red sauce that accompanied it. Maybe their just trying to figure out their menu but I am a bit disappointed as we don't have many food places local to the area... Seems like a good place to grab a drink tho!

This place is amazing from the staff to the food..such a beautiful place to eat indoor or outdoor. The prices are fair and well worth the trip.

UPDATE - JULY 2022: We had a wonderfully relaxing dinner at Tessie's after a two day drive home from vacation. The staff cheerfully and hospitably accommodated a special request from us. The Gravlax appetizer was amazing and the French dip sandwich and Tessie burger hit the spot. But, the highlight of the meal was the creme brulee, a favorite of ours. We're so glad to have Tessie's Tavern back! Great food, wonderful service, and a pleasant atmosphere.(from 2017)We thoroughly enjoyed an early Sunday dinner at Tessie's. The service was prompt and not intrusive. Food was very good. Though the restaurant is newly opened the "Legendary" Buffalo wings lived up to their name, and came with the correct accompaniment of blue cheese dressing. Meatballs and Bolognese sauce was too big for a single sitting and will be an excellent lunch tomorrow. Salmon was very nice seasoned and served with a delicious and properly prepared vegetable medley. We went because there was creme brulee on the dessert menu and it also excellent. We will go back, soon.
