Solstice has done an impressive job managing space in their restaurant despite COVID restrictions. Warm, lofty ambiance with lots of wooden beams and paneling. Hostess and wait staff were very kind, if a tiny bit slow.Food was tasty, though perhaps not good enough to earn the price of the meal. Unique cocktails. Large menu with moderately-sized portions. Would recommend the warm table cheese!Would I go again? Sure, if I happened to be at Stowe. But I wouldn’t make a special trip.
DO NOT RECOMMENDSo I wanted something different for Valentines Day and opted to try a resort. We knew it would cost more but for a 4 star plus hotel we figured the quality of food would match. We were wrong. The prices to food portions and flavor were WAY off.Lobster cavatelli pasta $36. It was flavorless. It was milk maybe some cheese, couldn’t taste it or tell in the texture, three leaves of spinach and maybe an oz of lobster? That’s being generous. The scallop dinner? $26 for 3 scallops that tasted like scallops nothing more. Not a full sized vegetable in sight and a soggy piece of bread that felt like it sat in water. The hostess had an awful attitude. Our waitress was nice and checked in on us but she was never the one to bring us our drinks or food. Felt like my tip should have gone to the whole staff. The hush puppies sat in the fryer too long and turned dry. There wasn’t enough sauce to save them.We didn’t even get dessert for fear of further disappointment.A $150 meal with one drink each I think is normal for a special night out but not for the poor quality of food. We actually talked about stopping at a grocery store to fill up after the meal...
Staff was kind and lovely. ESP in the morning. Food was overpriced, limited menu and just awful. I mean a $28 plate of chicken looked more like a Cornish hen leg and two tiny chunks of bok Choy. Pick a lane Mr Solstice Chef! Fancy or good?? I ordered same breakfast two days in a row and one day it close $10 and other day $22! ( one egg and toast) and even the toast was dull and cold. Coffee was good tho and free in the morning.
Food was great, drinks were great, but our server was incredibly rude and honestly just acting really odd. We’re Stowe locals and I’ve never been treated that way at any restaurant I’ve been to. Our waiter, Brandon, was blatantly acting like we weren’t ordering enough or ordering fast enough for him. He really ruined our entire experience and made it difficult to make the best of a fun night out because our table conversation turned into us wondering if we personally offended him in some way.
Honestly, the food was great and the staff was friendly! With that being said, I received the worst service I have ever witnessed in my entire life. Our waitress was extremely lovely; however, it became clear that she may have never served in her entire life. It took 20+ minutes for our mimosas to come to our table. The waitress had to ask us 2-3 times to confirm we wanted mimosas....... it’s literally just the easiest thing to bring to a customer in a restaurant. Takes like 5 minutes to make a drink. None the less, the waitress didn’t know the gluten and dairy free options. She had no idea what picco de Gallo or salsa was. All in all, it was the worst service I’ve ever witnessed; however, the waitress was a nice lady, just clearly not very well trained. So, I blame the manager. When you have new workers, train them. Have a menu test every day before you open so your staff knows what the hell they are talking about.
We really enjoyed sitting at the bar. Jason is an Bartender. He even gave us some fairly insightful information on how Kahlua is not the way to go. This gentleman deserves a raise! Ask and he will deliver. I can not recommend this place enough. Thanks again!!
I was staying at the Lodge on my honeymoon and ate at Solstice the night we arrived. Our waitress and the trainee accompanying her were so helpful and treated us to complimentary champagne to celebrate the occasion. The food was spectacular (especially the egg nog creme brulee) and the ambience was perfect.
It was my birthday. I was so exited to finally eat out and get take out. Because of covid-19 for so long I hadn't been able to satisfy and challenge my taste buds. Try new and exited food. Or experience the exhilaration and enjoyment of eating from a restaurant. So as you can assume, when my mom placed the delivery order my heart was filled with joy, and my stomached was filled with hungry butterflies. BUT, we waited and waited as my stomach rumbled the order was not there. Finally my mom called up solistice, after being on HOLD for ONE whole minuet she was informed the delivery person got LOST. HOW? are rental house was less than TWO minutes away from the hotel resturant. Eventually after waiting for the food, it arrived and to my delight actually quite warm. I ordered the shrimp tacos, they had good flavor, ALTHOUGH, becuase the tortilla sat for so long it was soggy and completly broke down. I was not able to eat it like a normall Taco and HAD to use my utensils. I ended up with a deconstructed shrimp taco. The flavor delish, but the shrimp was slighly over cooked and a tad chewy. I think if was in the resturant and the food came right away the taco would be perfect, but because of the resurants bad time magmeant and medicore service it was not perfect. We also order the brussel sprouts. They were quite crispy and the sause on them was delishous and tickled my taste buds. The sporuts also got a bit soggy but again not. due to the chefs but the resturats managemant. We also order burgers, which I heard were very good along with the french fries. I was not a huge fan of the chicken wings, but this had more to do with personal taste. Overall the food was very very good but the downfall of solstice is there mangmeant and service, a problem which I have delt with throughout the years of eating here.
Wow. Where can I start? The lodge is beautiful and amazingly located but for the price you're paying the food should at least be eadible. Shaved seasonal veggies in my salad? Cucumbers and radishes are neither shaved nor seasonal. The lettuce in the other salads were repulsive, already turning brown. They tasted like dirty lettuce, meaning actual dirt as if it wasnt washed. The lettuce wasn't even cut, and it was a slab of uncut, brown, dirty lettuce. Believe it or not they still gave it to us. The "added protein" was a steak or chicken the size of a babies palm. To top it all off, 4 salads, not delivered cost $125 and a tip was included. Tip included....for a pick up. Got a good arm workout in cutting my tiny steak with a plastic form.
We enjoyed several breakfasts & dinners here during our honeymoon, since we were staying at Spruce Peak. The salmon avocado toast for breakfast is absolutely to die for. I’m still dreaming about the cavatelli, wings, and brisket dumplings on the dinner menu. Great service every time and friendly hellos from the staff and managers reinforced how much we loved coming here. We will absolutely be back on our next trip up!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Spruce Peak. The day we arrived we went to Solstice for dinner. Our meals were excellent. We had booked the chefs table for our anniversary night prior to our arrival. Chef Justin prepared amazing dishes catering to our food preferences and the wine pairings were fabulous. We were incredibly full by the third course (five courses total), we took a lot of food back to our room. It was a great experience.
Spruce peak itself is an amazing place to stay, we loved our stay and the staff was helpful in every way. Which is why I tried this restaurant, it’s easy and we don’t have to drive around. Considering it’s so pricey I wasnt really satisfied with the quality/quantity of the food. The food had cute presentation but lacked flavor. Not worth the amount spent at all, nor was the service given that night. It’s very hit or miss I will Say, we did complementary breakfast a couple of times. First time was terrible terrible service BUT good food. Second time we finally had a great server who made us happy and a good meal as well. I cant speak for the whole menu but it’s a game of risk dining here, can’t go wrong with their breakfast! Save yourself the trouble and try out a local food spot, the ones we tried were amazing and worth the price!
Very tasty food! We ordered a bowl of the New England Clam Chowder and the Lobster Roll. Both dishes were delicious however, both dishes also came out only luke warm. The soup was just barely hot and the lobster roll was warm. Regardless we ate everything served because it tasted great. I would still return! It is mildly pricey. This restaurant is located on the second floor of the The Lodge.
The food here is terrible. Believe all of the earlier reviews that have said that. Ate here for breakfast and lunch, and the only thing that was good was the fruit plate (because you can't really mess up fruit, can you?). Also, the restaurant has many different seating areas, but the hostess placed us right next to another table filled with people--even though the rest of the room was and remained unoccupied the entire time we were there. COVID hasn't left us yet. Why seat people next to each other when there is plenty of space elsewhere? On the bright side, the wait staff is very nice.
