We had a really nice dinner here. Atmosphere, service, and food were all above average. We started with wings for an appetizer. Good size wings with bold flavor and the perfect level of spice. My wife got the chicken with Vermont cheddar and I got the curry dish. Both were very good and in my opinion, adequately portioned. I really liked the atmosphere of this place. Nice leather booths, exposed wooden beams, and some old style, trendy light fixtures. Our waiter, Jake, was also terrific. I'd love to come back for another meal the next time we are in Stowe.
We ordered dinner to go tonight. We shared the steak au poivre and a Caesar salad and I ordered a blood orange margarita. Everything was so delicious! We try to get away to the Green Mountain Inn for my birthday every year and have been coming up here for at least 9 years. We always eat at the Whip and it never disappoints!
Everything was great!. Very old building with tons of old pictures that told the history of the building and the town. Dinning room had dark wood covered walls and good ambient lighting which were very relaxing. The service and food were top notch. Everything from the bread to the desert were Awesome. I like fine dining steak restaurants so when i ordered the filet i figured it be good but it was great! As for the mashed potatoes they were so good i ordered a second helping. Finally The desert called the Sac de Bon Bon was maybe the best desert i have ever had in my 25+ years going out to nice restaurants. Amazing!
Pleasantly surprised. The quality of food has picked up dramatically and now has become a recommended place for us to eat and recommend to friends.
Nice cozy spot with some great food. The mussels special was great and the calamari was excellent.
My experience here was wonderful it is my first time in Vermont they follow the covid rule, staff are friendly my waitress name is Linda she was so awesome very friendly and was always smiling i can still even with her mask on.
Food was amazing, good portions, our waitor Jake was super friendly, energetic and overall very pleasant. Will certainly be returning !
We went there once for lunch more or less by accident. We liked the traditional look of the Green Mountain Inn. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we made it a point to wander back down into town for another lunch later in the week. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Small but good selection of craft beer on draft. No leftovers!
Absolutely amazing great service, great portions and great atmosphere! Oh and the food absolutely delightful
Quintessential NE pub ish restaurant, prices might be a little steep for quality, but it is in stowe after all.
I can use only one word to describe this place and food - Amazing !! It's our 3rd time here in the Stowe and Whip is out to go place !! Staying in Rochester VT over the Christmas holidays enjoying daily trips and our most recent one to Stowe where we stumbled upon The Green Mountain Inn. Hungry we decided to try the Whip Bar for a late lunch and we were delighted with our choice. Cozy atmosphere, excellent drinks and our food was yummy. We each ordered something different and we were not disappointed. My only disappointment; no cookbook available although they did provide us with their recipe for Maple dressing and Caesar dressing. Their signature corn chowder was perfect and I did manage to find a recipe online.
Went for lunch. Highly recommend. Ordered the maple wings. Very good. Ordered the half turkey sandwich with cup of corn chowder. Came with a small salad that had a maple balsamic dressing which was fantastic. The sandwich was a “10”. The bacon on the sandwich was perfect. My wife ordered half BLT and the cup chowder. She loved her meal too. Would definitely go back.
The Whip Bar and Grill has been one of my favorites over the years. Hadn't been there for over 20 years, but while the bar and restaurant has changed over time, it still has the same feeling to me. Reminisced about days gone by, and even greater ones to come. The corn chowder soup was great as well as the perfectly prepared burger. Highlight to me was the roasted lamb sandwich. Perfectly cooked, nice sauce an just the correct amount of lettuce and tomato on a perfectly grilled chibatta roll. I'm drooling. Will be back sooner.
Last night I had dinner at The Whip. I ordered the pan roasted chicken breast with an apple cider reduction. It was topped with sharp cheddar cheese and crusted herbs. It was wonderful. The whipped potatoes and veggie medley on the side was just there. I rarely find these types of sidings to be much other than taking up the plate. My waitress was Leigh. We saw her on Thanksgiving and she was just as delightful! I was also impressed she remembered me as I was dining solo so as to work. Due to the 6 foot rule, they removed some tables. It made it look too open but there is not a great deal that can be done about this. Some a the leather seating was torn and I was worried I would get scratched. My thought would be that they take the best seats and make each spot a private oasis. When COVID is in our rearview mirror, I would like to go back to this restaurant and see the bar and the kitchen operate as it did. It would be worth the trip to watch the kitchen in action from the open stone bar.
