We went to Gertie's last night and the food and experience were amazing! Elise was incredibly knowledgeable about the wonderful wines and pairings. We ordered the cheese boards, the mushrooms in cream sauce, pasta and meatballs and the beef Wellington and all were incredible! The waitstaff was attentive and helpful and the food was top notch. This is somewhere to go if you enjoy European, high quality, fine dining. It's a small place and easy to miss the location, nestled near the movie theatre in uptown.

When visiting The Harbor, Gertie is a place that you must not miss. This is one of the best wine lists south of Seattle. The staff is simply phenominal and Kieran puts together an experience that must be experienced. Bravo Gertie!

Nice bistro atmosphere. The Octopus entree was hands down the best octopus preparation I have ever had. Tender beyond reason with an almost buttery finish. Just out of this world. The only nit pick is the Pistachio Pate. Artful presentation but a pain in the **** to assemble slices of pate and accrouments on small, torn chunks of bread. Suggestion: replace olive slices with olive tapenade. Replace currents with current jam or conserve. Serve slices of foccacia (outstanding by the way) and let diners cut or tear the own pieces to size.

I wanted to love this place because it’s less than 5 minutes from my house and appeared to be a nice spot for dinner in Gig Harbor. I have visited twice before giving this review. The place is well decorated and has all the makings for a great dining experience. However, we have had poor experiences on both visits - we felt generally unwelcome both times. The first time we visited, it took 3 staff members ~5 awkward minutes to decide where to seat us even though several tables and bar seats were available. They asked if we could sit at the bar, and gave us limited appetizer-only menus without mention of the bar not offering dinner service at that time. We left after about 20 minutes of not being served. The second visit we came on a Thursday at opening time. Again, the awkward table seating issue occurred, with only ~3 tables occupied. They asked if we could sit at the bar again, and we agreed. We were here for over an hour and a half and they had open tables upstairs and downstairs the entire time. They were out of about 1/3 of the menu including 1/2 of the entrees! I also ordered a beer, and the keg was out. The food that we ordered was good and well-cooked and the kitchen staff deserves 4 (google) stars, but it took over an hour for the food to be served. The front end staff seemed confused and untrained. In the time we were at the bar on our second visit, the record player stopped playing 3 times and the staff had to be told by guests that the music was off. We had to listen to the same Frank Sinatra album 3 times in a row!I don’t think I will give this a third try.

I did leave a review and now I don't see it, the worst dining experience in my life, a total rip off, food was not edible, charged 500 percent mark up on wine If I could give a negative review I would

25 minute wait to be served after being seated and 45 minute wait for cold food all at a premium price. In response to your reply,Does your staffing issue explain that the patrons who arrived after us were served before we were. I also hope that the fact that our table was the only table that had POC at it didn't play a role, but maybe that is a staffing issue too.

Didn't give this place 5 stars because of the price. Love the ambience, and our server was excellent. I can't remember her name, but she had long red hair. She provided exemplary service! The food was delicious! Probably the best pasta bolognese I've tasted, and my partner had the tortellini which was very tasty. The beet salad was also delicious. They didn't have Cabernet Sauvignon which surprised me, but the Pinot Noir she recommended was excellent!

Doesn't every great meal end with a cannoli?! We had a great dinner @gertieandthegiantoctopus All of it was amazing! It's located right next to the movie theater...which makes for a conveniently placed date night dinner. This place is worth the Tacoma Narrows toll bridge fee. Order everything on the menu! Looking forward to heading back tomorrow night. #gertieandthegiantoctopus #gigharbor #pnw #foodie
