Unfortunately this place permanently closed recently. It was an absolute staple of the area, and just an awesome place all around. Like many of Seattle's iconic hole in the wall type places, this one goes by the wayside.

Awesome neighborhood spot with pinball, shuffleboard, and frequent karaoke. Feels like a classic Seattle spot that hasn't learned about $20 cocktails

First spot I went to in the neighborhood and don't regret it one back. Super friendly staff and karaoke on Thursdays. By far my favorite spot for ending my day.

Great place to sit with a good friend or relative. Low key. Not a party place, just sit back and watch whatever game is on. Booth seating as well as bar seating. I liked this chill place. Definitely would come back.

Went in for drinks, stayed for the shuffleboard. They have board games as well.Nice low-key neighborhood spot. Which I prefer to the atmosphere at the brewhouse next door. The parking lot can get kind of nuts, but you most likely live in the area, so walk or take the 7, the stops are close by. Everyone is better off not driving to a bar.I hope to be back soon, I had a good time.Kid-friendliness: Bar, no kids

I went here many times. The absolute strength of this place were the servers--friendly, fun and top-notch. The ambience is interesting, depending the day and time you're there it's either a wasp-y sports bar (more likely to have MLS soccer or NHL than NBA hoops on the TV...you get the feeling they'll put lacrosse on, if it was available) or a full-on, dive bar for the neighborhood (which, is, if you know Columbia City, very diverse). The overall mix of people is great. There is the occasional difficult patron...one old lady screamed angrily at me for no reason as I entered, one time. But, you got the impression that she was somebody's crazy aunt or something. She seems to be a regular. The Thursday karaoke night is interesting. The sound system is terrible (and sometimes made worse by the guy running the board, trying to tweak things while you're singing) and the deejays are not particularly helpful or friendly. They don't stick to the list of people who sign up--either booting you from the list, or even inserting you ahead in line of where you just were, even though you'd already sang several songs and you were, say, #4 on the list a few minutes ago. It can get pretty weird that way.Keeps you on your toes, I suppose. But, as I said before, the overall mix/crowd is great; and, some karaoke nights, that really makes it. You will hear several karaoke tunes from each of the last six decades. Still, I wish the place invested in a single, 'pro' DJ (esp. since it's only one night/wk) and used something inexpensive like Karafun--to really devote itself to being a first-rate karaoke spot. Because it could be. And those are increasingly rare. Finally, the food, unfortunately, isn't consistently good. We had sandwiches that ran the gamut from good to pretty darn bad. They got the A/C fixed, so that's a plus. And indoor shuffleboard and some fine pinball machines (with board games in the corner) complete the scene. So, this place is okay--with huge potential.

My favorite neighborhood joint. All I'm looking for is pinball and shuffle board and they have it.

It's a great local place. Older building, sort of divey, but a great atmosphere. Go for Karaoke nights. They're fun!

I had a great time at their weekly kareoki Thursday night. I will go again. They have a very good Spinach \u0026 Artichoke dip, smaller portion than I am accustomed to for this appetizer. Also they had a delicious Mexican chocolate stout. Delicious. I hope it's there next time! Service was good, note it's not a waitress attended table, you go ask what you want from the the one bartender working that night, or at least it's how it was for us that night. Nothing special about the place says atmosphere but it felt good because it's a bar and there's karaoke with a lot of interaction between the people running the karaoke, the audience and the singers.

This is my go-to in Columbia City lately. People talk to one another at the bar, usually. I just can't do bars where everyone has their nose in a cellphone. I'm here to socialize. If I wanted to drink alone, it's cheaper at home. But Hummingbird is friendly and sociable.
