We were nervous about dining out to celebrate my birthday as we had not had the best experience doing so in the area. Upon arrival, the hostess was welcoming and friendly, and the staff members who walked by as we waited for our table kindly greeted us. Our table was beautifully set and the handwritten birthday card and rose petals were astounding. Our server, Gregory, was superb. He was gracious and well-versed in the menu, particularly with my gluten-free needs due to Celiac Disease. His recommendations were helpful and appreciated. Gregory was immensely attentive throughout our meal, from starters to dessert, while still allowing us to enjoy the night and time together. He honestly made our decision to dine out a memorable one.Staff members were kind and polite as they thanked us for coming in and wished me a happy birthday on the way out. The valet attendant was just as lovely and courteous. El Gaucho Tacoma truly made my 40th birthday a special one and my husband and I are grateful for a rare gratifying night out. Thank you for making us feel welcomed and appreciated. It means more than you know.

Last night was my first time at El Goucho. I was fully impressed. The service from our awesome server, Sheena, was exceptional. She made my dinner there a wonderfully memorable experience. I also want to recognize David, who helped table our food, including both our steak dinners and fiery bananas foster. He exuded class and charm, adding to my extremely positive impression of this upscale restaurant.Not to mention that the food was incredibly tasty, and the atmosphere is like something out of a 40s film with dim lighting, high ceilings, and live piano music from a very talented performer.

First off service was amazing ! No complaints there. We did have a random tweaker sit at the table next to us they had to escort them out so that was interesting . Good salad , Mac and cheese needed more flavor . Steak came out so bloody and then after being sent back was still so raw . Mashed potatoes needed more flavor also and the asparagus was raw I could only eat little bit off the top .

Went for my birthday dinner for the first time. Atmosphere was beautiful, live music was absolutely amazing. Our waiter, Pepe, was so wonderful and made our experience so memorable. 10/10 service. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Ok so I have been going to this place since about 2008, and while their food tasted great and the service was great, I was a bit disappointed by my $84 bone in rib eye steak. It was only about an inch thick, and I just did not see the value in it. For this price I would have expected a thick - like two inch thick steak dry aged and cooked to perfection. This steak was not that. - the environment was great and the atmosphere is unbeatable, but I think for a steak house, they need to offer something a little more substantial.
