Situated in the food court area of the famous Freighthouse Square in Tacoma, WA is Little India Express. The Freighthouse has seen better days and used to be filled with tons of tiny little shops filled with imported trinkets and antiques or art. They had hobby stores and a myriad other boutique shops. On top of that, they have a food court. It has also seen better days but the food vendors are probably keeping this entire establishment afloat. Inside you'll find a burger joint, a fish and chips place, a Mexican restaurant complete with rooftop seating and a full bar, a mediterranean spot and then there's Little India. I was actually on the hunt for some Indian food this day and I found them here on Yelp. Someone's review had pleaded with readers to please check this place out and to be honest, when I saw the plethora of other choices, I almost changed my mind. Ultimately, I settled in on Little India and I was pleasantly surprised! My wife previously worked with an Indian man whose wife would prepare traditional Indian dinner every single night. He would bring leftovers to work and shared them with my wife. She brought some home and I tried it and it was amazing but from that point on, my wife would compare every Indian place to that food and nothing ever measured up. Until... Little India Express checked all of the boxes and we now have our GO TO Indian restaurant. The portions were bigger than I had expected and they don't skimp on the meat. I'm used to ordering chicken tikka masala and getting a quart of sauce with 6 small pieces of chicken. This was not the case at Little India. The food tasted fresh and was seasoned well. You can order your heat level from 1 to 5 and the flavors are all present and accounted for. Our bellies were filled up and satisfied when we finished our lunch. Our only complaint with the food was that the naan was thin and crispy instead of light and fluffy. The flavor was good but it was like having a large cracker instead of flat bread. The only other complaint was that the Mexican restaurant projects the worst music on the planet from the absolute worst speaker ever created and the entire food court has to endure the torture of the assault on their eardrums but I can't fault Little India Express for that. If you're in the Tacoma area or passing by looking for some good eats, I highly recommend stopping in for some Indian cuisine. I seriously doubt that you'll be disappointed. Pro tip: Freighthouse Square does have washrooms however, they are not clean, they are not updated and they are not maintained well at all so make sure you don't need to use the facilities before you stop in.

Omg ? yummy. Got the tomato bisque soup. It's not the creamy thick kind. It's the soup on a rainy day yummy kind. Spiced perfectly and the garlic Nan bread was the best I've had in a long time.

Most flavorful Indian food I've ever had but unfortunately no spice at all even at level 4, I've had hotter black pepper. Would otherwise be 5 stars, will still order again.

I ordered the butter chicken (mild), garlic naan bread and veggie samosas through door dash. Everything was hot, delicious, and honestly the best Indian food I've ever had. The mild (butter chicken) is very mild so I will choose spicier next time but the flavor is amazing. I really didn't mind that it wasn't spicy!! Huge portion of rice. Samosas are fantastic with a great texture. Naan bread was perfect. It's enough for two meals!! I am very happy!!!

I went there for lunch on Thursday. I had the lentil soup and garlic spinach naan. The soup and naan spoke to my soul on a cool winter day. Delicious comfort food. They mentioned that they can make any dish vegan or dairy free. The staff or owners were so kind and courteous. I will be back. Nice community of restaurants.
Wow. Every time I eat here I can't believe how good it is, how much you get and how fair the price is. Love this

I was given the wrong order and it didn’t even matter because the food was so good. Their lamb is done perfectly. I’ve been looking for a really good Indian restaurant since moving from MI over 8 years ago. I’ve found it at Little India Express.

Small but lovely little spot in the food court type area by the train station. Definitely worth a stop :)
