This sushi place is actually very conveniently located near point defiance off of Ruston in Tacoma... The service was great, the staff was great, and the atmosphere is actually really nice and clean. But the food was kind of mediocre in terms of how fresh it tasted. A spider roll should never taste fishy. Mine tasted fishy.

I'm gluten free and love sushi, so I'm always ecstatic to find a sushi place that understands gf! They had gf soy sauce on request, and the menu had a blurb at the bottom that said all the sauces are made gf. I was so excited, I ordered the unagi (eel), which I love but never get to order because of the sauce. Turns out, their eel sauce wasn't gf either, but the staff did bring the roll with the sauce on the side (which my friend could eat). So, not quite what I was hoping for, but at least they caught it while I was ordering and there was no awkward sending the food away. On the plus side, they had classic sushi options and some very tasty rolls I haven't seen before! The staff was helpful and very good about refilling our water often. I love that the menus are laminated and you write in what you want with a dry-erase marker, including comments! Great way to make sure everything is right. Overall, definitely coming back if I'm in the area!

It's average to below average sushi. We got assorted tempura and it tasted meh. We got four different rolls, half premium and half regular. The sauces they use are amazing but the fish was lukewarm. If this review changes from 2 stars to 1 star, it is because I definitely got food poisoning from here. There was also an eyelash and a piece of plastic on my rainbow roll. The price did not match the quality of the rolls. The service was okay. The atmosphere was quiet and there wasn't loud music. The server seemed angry when I declined to tip on the card but perked up when I took out cash, then got angry again when they saw it was not as much as they wanted. I would not recommend it, and I will not come back here.

Loved the place. Fresh great tasting sushi.Removed a star due to the terrible parking validation system. It's actually gotten even worse over the years if that is possible.Parking: Terrible validation system.

It’s a little cluttered in there and the staff can be forgetful but the food is great. A little pricey but makes sense for being in Point

An ideal location for a small but delicious sushi bar. Very interested chef special rolls and good sauces. The chef came out and spoke with us. Very friendly. A place I will return to when I’m out this way again.

Mio Sushi, nestled in the heart of Ruston, presents an intimate and cozy dining environment that may be characterized by its modest size, but what it might lack in expansiveness, it compensates for in sheer comfort and warmth. The culinary offerings, particularly the sushi, are nothing short of exquisite—each bite a testament to the craftsmanship and passion that goes into their creation.Beyond the delightful gustatory experiences, what truly accentuates the Mio Sushi experience is its exemplary staff. Each member exudes genuine warmth and professionalism, ensuring patrons feel valued and attended to. Furthermore, despite the intricate nature of their dishes, the service speed is remarkably swift, ensuring that diners are both satisfied and efficient in their dining experience.Mio Sushi in Ruston is undeniably a testament to the harmonious blend of quality, service, and ambiance, making it a must-visit for both sushi enthusiasts and casual diners alike.

Sushi was ok, the poke salad was AMAZING…the environment was ok… my biggest frustration was the service and literally the cell service. Our babysitter kept trying to call and the call kept failing so I asked for the wifi and they said “we don’t have wifi for customers and this is a dead zone for phone service. If it’s an emergency you can use our landline” (they have wifi for the restaurant though)…like if you KNOW there’s no service, get wifi for your customers. We had to cut our dinner early because we were so worried about not being able to be in touch with our babysitter!

Was looking for something to have after watching a movie at the theater and found this place! They give A LOT OF RICE with the Chirashi bowl and I found the fish quality not as good as a lot of the other places in the area -- it was slightly tougher and stringier. The variety of fish also wasn't as much as other places I've been to, especially for the price which was a lot higher than most places. I would not order this again. They have specials and I got to try the chicken katsu dinner as well. It was good but nothing too special.Overall I would probably go elsewhere for sushi/dinner, but don't think I could go wrong if I got a bento or a kitchen entree.

The service is very bad. A writess is rude, she didn't give us water, no soy sauce dish, and gave us a pair of broken chopsticks, no worth to pay any tip although we still paid 18% in lunch, it wastes money. The food is okay. We were not very happy and I definitely wouldn't recommend Mio Sushi.

So far we only did take out and feel the food is not bad. Yesterday (7/8 afternoon) we had guess visiting so it's the first time we did dine in here. The service is the worst I ever had in Japanese restaurant. The old Asian lady who took us to the table is very impatient. She didn't give us water and very impolite. We had a 2 years old and she didn't even bother to ask if we need highchair and we end up bringing the highchair and water by ourselves after waiting for a while. After that, one of chopsticks is broken and there is no apology for the careless and we don't have small plate for soyal source as well. Food is okay but the service is very bad and unpleasant unprofessional. I still pay for tip as we only order 2 Bento and 1 ramen for group of 3 adults and 1 kid and 1 baby (as we know the volume and not much appetize due to hot weather) but the waitress deserves 0 tip and needs to be re-trained for the basics to work in restaurants

Picking up a order for a customer on Friday around 11am when I walked in the guy working the front did not acknowledge me at all!!! I never felt more disrespected or sadness by the way he made me feel. It took 10 minutes before I had to say something to him . As I called before I arrived to see if order was ready it only states the name as customer until I arrive at store so I told him what customer orderd.. but this kid is in the wrong line of work
