Out of business in less than one year (landlord evicted). Owner has been breaking personal financial commitments since 1993 (27+ years). He's burned bridges in Columbus, Watertown, Johnson Creek -- and, next up: West Bend (228 Taphouse). If you're a supplier, advertiser or contractor -- get your money UP FRONT and/or COD. Do your due diligence and determine if he (and his girlfriend) are people you want to do business with. CCAP shows a line of people waiting to get paid (nearly 3 decades worth). Don't let your business be their next victim.
The restaurant is only open Thursday - Saturday and they have been closed the last 2 weekends. This weekend it appears they are closed again because the lights are dark and there is no update on their Facebook page. They have been closed with some fake excuse multiple weekends in the last 6 months and have only been in this location not even 9 months. If you do a search of fb for 228 Tap House its clear these owners are up to their old tricks again and either opening a new restaurant in addition to Taste on 26 or playing games with this location and planning on closing and moving to the new spot in West Bend because the food is the same and its the same vibe. That would be par for the course because James and Shannon never stay in the same location more than a year. It's sad that they keep playing games, leaving their business partners and landlords with owed money for bills and rent and alienating their customers so bad that they have to move and create new business entities every year or less. One would question how they keep finding new victims to scam. Back to a vacant storefront here i guess.
The place is always closed. If you look at their Facebook they have a new excuse as to why they're closed at least one weekend a month! They have good food but they're never open. How does a business survive only being open Thursday thru Sunday to begin with, then they invent fake reasons to be closed? Latest excuse is high coronavirus cases in the area. Jefferson county has some of the lowest cases in the whole state. All over their Facebook it's #eatlocal #supportlocalbusiness #cleankitchen I'm sorry but none of that matters when you care so little for the community and your customers that you can't reliably be open. #timesupbye
Taste on 26, was just awsome. Plenty of food and quality was right at the top. I would recommend it to everyone
Excellent food excellent service nice people really humble I'm recommended
The food was absolutely amazing. By far the best fries I have ever had. Everyone in my family thought it was so good. Definitely will be back!!
More like 4.5 stars. Great friendly and prompt service. Food was above average good. Prices were fair especially for the portions of food.
Ordered steaks on December 31, 2019, New Year’s Eve and they were done just as we ordered (medium-well). Everything on our plate was hot and delicious. Ordered Brandy old-fashion, mixed drinks and they were made to perfection.
Stopped in to check out the food and we ordered hamburgers..burgers had no flavor chips tasted like cold grease and Cole slaw I'm guessing is old and couldn't eat it...waitress and bartender asked how food was and we said not good and the reply was well we appreciate honesty...then they handed us the bill....will not be back ever... should of gone to Culver's across the street..
Our food was very good, fast service and got plenty of food for the cost. The atmosphere was calming and casual, enjoyable. Our waitress was awesome she checked in just enough! We will definitely be coming back with our kids to see what they think. Cant wait to try other parts of the menu.
