This place is the absolute best restaurant gem around! It's the pinnacle of Asian comfort food and with the amazing staff and hospitality, it is a Home Run of eateries in the midwest. Spread the word because Matsumoto is a must try for any food enthusiast, of any age.

The best ramen in the area. Not only because there isn't any real competitor in the region but the ramen here is actually great. Having move to the area from California I haven't had any Asian food thats comparable to the great options and quality from CA until I came to Matsumoto Ramen House. It's a drive from La Crosse but definitely worth it.

Tucker, the owner, warmly welcomed us on our first visit and guided us through the menu with recommendations that were sure to please. He was friendly, inquiring how we discovered the restaurant, and shared that it was through social media. Ask about getting Polaroid picture on the wall of fame after which added a cool vibe. I highly recommend a visit for top-notch Japanese based ramen food and service. Also they have forks if you aren’t a chopstick ninja, also like the soup spoons if you don’t want to gulp from bowl. Also don’t skip adding Gyoza for appetizer, you won’t be disappointed

Tried first time today and will go back. Gentleman at the counter was helpful and friendly. Tonkotsu was very good with killer broth that I would have happily taken a bath in (though next time I will ask for 1/2 the noodles as I just don’t eat that many carbs). My dumplings were ok but strangely crunchy on end piece and less flavorful than expected with the spicy beef option (honestly think I was given chicken as light translucent pink meat). The place was clean, open, and comfortable for a single person to eat without feeling odd. Going to try the vegetarian option next visit.
