I recently attended an event at this Resort and was very disappointed. Hundreds of people were forced to sit in a crowed room literally on top of one another. The room set up was horrible and difficult to maneuver. I left being sick because there was mold and/or mildew in the building that I had to inhale for 7 hours. It's a shame because the speaker was amazing but I will never return to this venue.

Advice; if you have difficulty getting around and need ramps and parking this is not a place to Visit.It snowed last night, when we arrived they plowed the parking lot but not the handicapped spots. They put up cones so we could not part if we wanted to.1) Painful access for handicapped: Our event was in in the lower, level, There was no access to get down there except to drive around to the back through snow filled trails and interrupts an event to gain access. There is no restroom for handicapped persons on the lower level2) Poor food service; There was no pride or care given to setting up or serving lunches that were pre-paid. I have not seen worse even from the Army.3) There were no announcements of signs posted where to go for the pre-paid lunches.Safety: The venue in the lower has unsafe steps for abled body attended and very unsafe for those with physical challenges.We called in advance and told them we had a walker they assured us that they are ADA compliant and that we would have access. They did NOT clear walks or drives etc. of snow and Ice.All together a bad experience

My wife, I and friends went here for the Valentines dinner. We were very disappointed, over two hours to complete the meal. Service was so slow we felt we were being ignored. We watched other diners come and go and we still hadn’t received our food. Small portions with twenty minutes to a half hour between coarses and at one point we asked for some bread and were told there wasn’t any bread to be had.Disappointed to say the least, we won’t go back.

We came here for a weekend getaway and it was so cozy. Very lowkey, close enough to town to enjoy and just out of town to be away from people :) we got to stay in a cabin, which was just lovely. Very, very clean! Only thing I would recommend is including a bigger coffee pot with mugs and additional drink ware. Bed was very comfortable and LOVED that we received complimentary breakfast (it was delicious too). Front desk staff were super friendly as well. I’d definitely recommend Coolfont!

Worst experience ever do not go. Just went in and waited over 30 minutes and no service. Several employees hanging around where we sat down and no one even acknowledged us. Will definitely not go back. Would give less than 1 star if I could. There was only about 6 other people there.

This review is ONLY about the Treeptop Restaurant at Coolfont Resort. This was out second visit following a pretty good experience about a year ago. Service before was "OK to good." Saturday 5PM with reservations. Not crowded at all, maybe four tables being served. The main issue we had was the service. Food is generally quite good to excellent. Basically, after our appetizers were served, our waitress basically DISAPPEARED or was tied up at the cash register (which was either not working, or she didn't know how to use--at one point, she literally was at the register for at least 10 minutes straight, completely ignoring her 3-4 assigned tables). THREE times one of us had to stop a waitress/server to ask for water, drinks, check, etc. after waiting for someone to come over (and "waiting" means 5-10+ minutes). Despite one our group asking specifically about how the BBQ ribs were cooked--and the waitress going back to ask the chef--she apparently FORGOT the entire order--leaving 3 people with entrees/dinner and a promise by the replacement waitress to have the entree cooked "asap." By this time, we never saw our original waitress again--gone. What should have been a 60-70 minute dinner took a bit over 2 full hours. Again, food very good, hot, recommended. Wine and beer fine, with generous wine pours. And in fairness, they took the ribs off the check. Bottom line, this isn't Ruth's Chris. It's a very rural restaurant that may have challenges getting qualified staff. If you aren't in a hurry and don't mind some mistakes, you may wish to go.

Beautiful rooms overlooking the lake, amazing food and laid back atmosphere! Couldn't ask for a more relaxing time! Stayed here after the remodel took place and loved that it was open again. I used to live about a mile down the street with my great grandmother and it brought back memories of our daily walk as a very young child ? Surprised at how nice it is after seeing it in shambles not so long ago!!Rooms: Updated and super clean!Food & drinks: The food was absolutely delectable!

I do not like to leave bad reviews for small businesses, but I am leaving this for you (a prospective customer). We had a very disappointing stay at the Coolfont Resort. The cabin itself that we stayed at was nice, but it lacked basic necessities such as enough bath towels for the amount of people stay and comforters on the beds. It was December when we stayed and chilly. We went to the front desk for additional towels and were given small pool towels. Further, before booking I specifically called and asked about the hot tub and fitness center and was assured they had both. During our stay the hot tub was closed and the treadmills/workout bikes did not work in the fitness center. Disappointment was an understatement. You are also promised a waffle bar and continental breakfast for days the restaurant is not open in the morning. This consisted of fruit cups, yogurt, and some store bought bagels shoved in a mini fridge. No waffles. Before checking out, I brought all this to the attention of the three women working the front desk to make them aware of our overall dissatisfaction and the discrepancy of what is advertised vs as is. They did nothing. They didn't even write down the constructive feedback to make improvements. I do not recommend staying here unless you are staying just for a roof over your head.

I have visited the Cacapon State Park end Lodge many times but only once last spring since the major renovations to the Lodge. This autumn we stayed overnight and the accommodations were great and we did not even have a luxury room, but had a huge big screen TV, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. I had a king size bed very comfy and the autumn view of the mountains looking out from the front of the lodge was breathtaking. Had hot chocolate out in back of the lodge and was able to sit by the outdoor fireplace there. The whole park is truly breathtaking and verifies that West Virginia is almost heaven! The staff was wonderful too!Rooms: As I said in my comments I didn't have a luxury room but it was a great room!Nearby activities: There are many things to do and see in the area, everything from antique shopping to hiking, great ice cream parlors and stands, lots of restaurants and fascinating historical places.Safety: I felt safe there.

Stayed there for my aunts bday and it was amazing !! Carrie, Lee and Jonathan were the absolute best!! Rooms were beautiful, staff was delightful, food was great. Overall an excellent experience! Will be back!
