We had a phenomenal experience at the French Goat this past Sunday evening for dinner while staying at the Greenbrier. For half the price, the service and quality of food blew the Greenbrier's main dining room out of the water - the French Goat was leagues ahead, and was what the Greenbrier should have been.We were the first to arrive, so we were greeted at the door, and our coats were taken and hung for us by the manager. Our waitress was immediately with us, and was super kind and very knowledgeable of the drinks and dishes. We shared the escargot, both ordered the French onion soup, and had different entrees for dinner. I had the house made rotini, which was excellent and al dente. My parter had the duck confit, which was absolutely delicious. We shared the creme brulee, which was perfectly done. We both had the Twist cocktail, which we both loved. We could not have been happier with our experience, and if we do choose to return to the Greenbrier one day, we will absolutely be returning to The French Goat. Maybe one day the Greenbrier's main dining room will be on par with The French Goat.

First of all, I’m very very picky for my food.Had filet and frites from the menu and steak chunk stew from specialty menu, both dishes and truffle fries were very salty. Tito and tonic drink was disappointing ?‍♀️. If you like truffle, you might like the truffle fries (with less sodium), or you might hate itFive stars for the service.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My husband and I had a reservation for Saturday. I went into early labor late Friday night and had to have an emergency c-section. When called about the reservation we explained the situation only to be told that we should have called and left a message. So sorry that canceling a reservation wasn’t the first thing on our minds. They still charged us a $40 no-show fee. I will never return and never recommend this place to anyone. They don’t care about their customers at all.

Amazing place with great brunch, walked in without a reservation and was warmly greeted and able to join in brunch. Delicious food. Had the special Halibut cakes, my husband the croque madame. Amazing cocktails. Trey was an awesome server as well! Chocolate mousse was to die for. . . Definitely visiting again when we're up here.

The French Goat was recommended to us for Sunday Brunch after a weekend at the Greenbrier. We could not have been more pleased!! First, the restaurant was clean and inviting, while classically decorated for Christmas. Our server was Trey and he was so pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable and really enhanced our experience! We ordered the basket of French pastries to start and they were light, flakey and amazing!! French press coffee went perfectly with them. The menu sounded so amazing, that we ordered 3 entrees for 2 people. Everything was seasoned to perfection and absolutely divine! 10/10 would eat there again!

Always a wonderful atmosphere, wonderful friendly service, and delicious food! Reservations are preferred. The French onion soul, escargot, and cheese plate are all wonderful appetizers. The old fashioned is great!I requested my filet pink with no blood, i receiveda well done steak. It was still delicious despite it being overcooked. I added a picture of the medium rare filet my partner ordered.Parking: Parking is plentiful across the street!

Positive things first, the ambiance is nice even though we were seated in the first room by the door. Reservations are required and must be secured with a credit card. Their no show policy is a charge of $20 per person. That policy to me, sets the expectations high for a nice experience. Unfortunately ours was far from nice. The waitress was kind, but was obviously inexperienced as she stumbled through reading of the specials as if she didn’t understand much about the food. Not her fault she may have just been new and needs some more training. For our appetizer we ordered escargot which came out in a reasonable amount of time. The serving dish was hot but the escargot themselves were cold. We sent it back. When the dish returned the color of the sauce was quite a bit darker than the first and there was a dark crust on the edges. It was hot but had no flavor at all. It was obviously just placed under the broiler to heat it up and not remade. Disappointed we were hoping the entrees were going to be better. Unfortunately they were not. One of us had the Arctic Char which was raw on one end and burnt on the other. It simply was not edible. The waitress offered to have it cooked more but after the escargot reheating experience we declined. The Duck Confit was dry and didn’t have much flavor. A man came to our table to ask what was wrong with the fish. I showed him the raw fish and explained our concerns. He did not introduce himself nor offer any apologies. We found out later from the waitress that he is one of the owners. I understand things happen in a kitchen but some kind of apology or appearance of concern would have gone a long way to enhance our experience. We were celebrating our birthdays and had planned on a nice meal with dessert and the works. I’m not a trained chef but when I can make a better meal at home it’s annoying to spend good money for below average food. I really don’t like writing bad reviews but this restaurant promotes themselves as fine dining and just fell short in our opinion. Unfortunate because the ambiance and concept of good French food is quite attractive amidst many run of the mill restaurants in the area.
