Nothing even close to Yama in Morgantown. Most authentic Japanese food by 100 miles. Food and staff are superior. My go to for 3 years when in school. Unbeatable

We got Filet Mignon Trio, Crab, Spinach & Artichoke Dip, and Prime Cheeseburgers. We also got Martinis and wine. It's an affordable way to eat at one of Morgantown finest.

We were there celebrating a friend's birthday. With a special occasion, you want the food to be special as well--this place did not disappoint! Everyone in our party (11) really enjoyed their selections, but I will only comment on my husband's and mine: he said his pot roast was flavorful & "fork cutting" tender. My chicken pot pie was delicious, with a flaky crust. The restaurant has a nice "Yama Japanese Restaurant" vibe with excellent service. My review (actually would be a "4 1/2") is less a star because some food selections, and most wine selections, are a little pricey, compared to other similar restaurants.

We LOVE Yama!! Shoyu Ramen and Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowls are our favorites.

Best Japanese in town, beats most Japanese I had even while living on the West Coast in cities (with lots of choices for Japanese food) for nearly 7 years. It has always been and as long as it is open will always be the best place for authentic, fresh Japanese food. Love the awesome, friendly, talented long time Owner/Chef. It is what defines the term hidden gem as far as people who aren't local might skip it due to this and miss out so hopefully they look at the reviews when moving here or coming here for school. They've always had different hours than most places but it's part of what makes Yama, well Yama! Chef will cater to any dietary preferences/restrictions. I had awesome an Vegan meal there a few months ago.

This place is so charming and wonderful! It honestly feels like you are invited into Yama and his family's home! They are super inviting and newcomer friendly and are probably one of my favorite places to eat. Please give this place a try! Wonderful culture and awesome family!

I know nothing of Japanese cuisine so I’m not going to try and compare this to any other place I’ve ever been. All I know is I’ve been eating here about once a month or more for... I’m guessing 15 years or maybe longer. I love it!! It’s not very big but it has a lot of repeat customers. I see a lot of the same faces. That tells you something about the place. I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad experience at Yamas. It’s not the place I’d take mom and dad when they are in town because they wouldn’t get it. But it’s the first place me and my friends speak of when we decide to go out to eat.

Wonderful food every time I've been there, and the employees always have smiles on their faces. Best restaurant in the area for the price, no contest

Such a delightful experience ordering from this restaurant. Yama is so kind & loving— always preparing delicious food. Tonight I am grateful for shoyu ramen as a surprise from my loving sis!
