A friend from the area liked this local favorite so we got here around 12:30 on a Thursday and grabbed the last outdoor table. Beautiful garden area with the Town Run (waterway) adding to the unique setting. We started with the Crab Dip appetizer. Parm cheese topping was a twist and we enjoyed it. For lunch it was the French Dip and Triple B Burger. French Dip was tasty and the Burger had house ground beef (char broiled taste) with Brie and Bacon bringing it all together. Although we didn't try any, they have a good selection of local/craft brews. Not much room for dessert but couldn't pass on the Peanut Butter Mousse pie. House made and had just the right amount of PB taste in the Mousse. Chocolate graham crust was tasty but could have been thicker. We saw a few dogs in the outdoor area as they are dog friendly. Service was engaged and attentive. Kaye took great care of us answering our questions and made some solid recommendations. Great spot for a laid back and relaxing lunch!
Great service and great food. Had a bacon cheese burger with Brie and fries. No complaints. The waitress, Bree, was attentive and friendly. Would go back.
I ate dinner at the Blue Moon Cafe and the food was delicious. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was satisfied with my meal. Very friendly welcoming staff. I enjoy going because the food is really terrific and usually end up taking some home for another meal at home. Great value and top quality food. Love this place very relaxing place in the garden area.
Absolutely loved the fried crab cakes and the the pilgrim on the ciabatta roll. We got to sit out on the back patio by the culvert which was perfect for family lunch with my mom visiting.
We ate yesterday after hiking along the river at the Blue Moon, one of our very favorite restaurants. We love the fact that we can take our little dog to the outside seating area. The food is usually outstanding, and the wait staff are very considerate and good. Yesterday, I made a big mistake and ordered a crab cake. Horrible. It is the only bad thing we have ever eaten at the Blue Moon. If was hard, very little crab in it. I should have sent it back, but I did not. I would recommend anything else but the crab cake.
What a lovely little spot! Was in Shepherdstown for a family thing, went to Blue Moon for lunch, and was delighted by the setting the food, the whole vibe. Definitely recommend for good food - particularly strong salad performance - and a very chill atmosphere to gather with friends for lunch or dinner.
Been coming here for decades. Food and service have gone way down hill. 4th table sat when they opened, meal took an hour. Crab cake was burnt to a crisp on the bottom. Bowl of black beans (literally three ingredients) was out of one of the ingredients (pickled jalapeños) tried to sub chopped raw jalapeños. Server didn’t check back to see if food was good till well after we would have finished and we weren’t gunna wait another hour for anything to be remade. Just a bad experience.
Food is great! Service is well meaning but slow and. inefficient. However, we keep coming back whenever we are in shepherdstown.
Beautiful wooded outdoor seating area, with the "town run" brook bisecting it. (There is also indoor seating.) Service was great. Food very good. Cheesecake was bland.
I loved this place! the outside seating area is absolutely beautiful i recommend eating out there if you decide to visit this beautiful cafe!! food is excellent and servers are friendly! definitely recommend
It is a great spot, very reasonable, food so, so.. but if you sit outside a stream runs right through..
Amazing little restaurant that has a wonderful atmosphere. Great food! Customer service was outstanding! Our waitress was simply the best!
We made 2:00 reservations and were seated right away. However, we waited over an hour for our food. Others that arrived after us received their food before us. We had to ask where our food was because we had other obligations to be at. This was the second time in a year we waited over an hour for food. The staff is young and not apologetic whatsoever. We had to then wait for napkins and utensils once our food arrived. My burger was cold. Great atmosphere but unless you have an hour plus to wait for cold food, skip the trip.
If I could leave no stars, I would. Didn't have high hopes upon walking in. I don't understand the incredibly positive reviews- I had a terrible experience with my family. The hostess upon entry immediately assumed we would want to sit outside (we didn't), and didn't ask our preference until after she asked if we wanted to go on the wait. After being sat inside, our server greeted us and asked what we'd like to drink. My table ordered 2 waters, a tea, and a sprite. Everyone else received their drinks- minus a sprite, which took 15 minutes, because our waitress forgot. We were right by the drink station. Our appetizer, the cucumber bruschetta, took 27 minutes to grace the presence of our table. Our entrees took 50. Upon trying to ask the server about our food because the table behind us, who'd been sat 10 minutes AFTER us, received their food before us, the server became snippy and rude to us. She was not kind and was snippy. She even went so far as to "promise" our food would be out in just a minute, although she took another table their food before us. In short, I was incredibly displeased and will not be returning.
The Mac 'n Cheese, the Champion Shower draft beer, the 'shroom samich and white wines!
