“Ate here for the first time thanks to the great Yelp reviews! There's not that many spots in the mall that have decent food honestly, so I was looking forward to trying a different spot. It wasn't busy at all (lunch on a Thursday though) but the place was clean and efficient. I ordered a 49er roll and a spider roll, came out to just over 20 bucks with tax which is a pretty good deal for sushi. The rolls were excellent and a decent size. The soft shell crab was fried to order so it was crunchy which I love. No complaints here, I would go back again for yummy sushi at a decent price.“

“Pleasantly surprised! For whatever reason I had never tried Akira before. I'm so glad I finally have. I met up with a couple of friends and we enjoyed drinks and shared a bunch of sushi. There are lots of options on the menu and everything we tried was tasty and super fresh! We were chatting so much that we closed the place down. This might seem random, but I was so impressed by the extensive cleaning they did at the end of the night. This alone will have me frequenting Akira from now on.“

The sunshine roll with mango, tempura jalapeño, sun dried tomato and avocado was also great. The vegan baked spicey scallop with baked king mushrooms and avocado was also great. “It’s a contemporary Japanese restaurant with an extensive menu. Decor is bright and cheery. Bonus points for big screens showing a winning Warriors game on the night we dined there! ? Personally I had the cheesy katsu on a sizzling hot plate which was quite a sight and tastes pretty good. My party had sushi and ramen which are ok but the broth is not complex flavor-wise. The draft beer in frosted mugs is refreshing and goes very well with the katsu. Service is friendly and lots of drink options from sake to soju to ramunes. “Torarenbou Sushi Bistro is in the Valley Center Shopping Center. I had been in this plaza several times, but I had never noticed this sushi spot. Small spot in a small plaza with a shared parking lot, but there was plenty of parking here. Not much service - I ordered ahead on the phone for a to go order, so my food was ready to go when I arrived within 15 minutes. A bit inconvenient because I did not know that they do not take Apple Pay, so thankfully I had my actual card on me. I ordered a sake maki, sake nigiri, and salmon handroll. The portions for the sake maki and sake nigiri were generous, while the salmon handroll was average sizing and I only paid about $20 for all 3. Salmon tasted pretty fresh, but the nigiri had a fatty salmon taste to it and the handroll also had a slight aftertaste to it.“

“This is probably my favorite restaurant. I go here almost every week for past 7-8 years. They give you complementary cucumber salad at the beginning and pineapple juice at the end of your dinner . Everyone is super friendly and helpful . Parking is always available . Restaurant is located at the very small plaza right next to 7/11. They also do very good job with to go orders . Try it , you won't regret !“

“Wow!!! I ordered the salmon avocado roll and the dragon roll. Compared to MJ sushi which is a block away, they give you so much more for a similar price. Good quality sushi and they also give you complimentary miso soup and salad which has a lot more ingredients than your average sushi place. Highly recommend this place is my new go to sushi place!“

I'd have to say that the freshness of the ingredients played a crucial role in the overall flavor and enjoyment of the dish. Also the vibe of the place is nice and simple, good place to eat dinner. We got crab cheese puffs, miso soup, and a roll each for dinner. Crab cheese puffs: 5/5 - very tasty! A go-to appetizer because they're simple and tasty. These were great, fried well and had a delicious flavor. Totally get these if you don't know what appetizer to start with! Miso soup: 4/5 - this soup was good but a little bit too salty. I like that they had real shaved bonito in the soup, added a lot of flavor but it may have made it slightly too salty. Wish there was a little more tofu but overall really good too! Spicy Tuna Roll: 4/5 - really good! Quality was great and the tuna was very flavorful. Rice was not dry and the roll was balanced. I do wish it was a little bit bigger but it's ok since we ordered other food too! Tempura Roll: 5/5 - this is the roll my friend god, she really liked it! Shrimp was tasty and fried well and she said it was very satisfying and that she would order it again. Overall our experience at golden palace was great! We definitely want to return when I visit her again. The menu had a lot of Chinese dishes so that will be what we tackle next! “Came back as its been awhile. Still consistent whether bento box or sushi. My fav bento is chicken teriyaki, tempura and CA roll. That was satisfying. The sushi roll was good. Just be ready to be patient as they are short staffed. Sushi chefs busy as the two older ladies are hosting, taking orders, etc. Service is pretty much order as soon as they come as one other woman she just walked by when we arrived. And the other ladies are hustling.“

“This sushi place is very near to my office. I have gotten lunch and dinner there off and on for many years now. The fish is good quality, and everyone there is so very nice. I almost always get takeout, but their restaurant is very pleasant for indoor seating, and the service is warm and friendly.Dietary restrictions: I am celiac, and they are always very accommodating with gluten-free soy sauce. They are also happy to adapt rolls for you if you ask. I usually enjoy sashimi the most so it’s not a huge issue for me.“

“We've been going to Toyo Sushi for over 16 years, many times weekly. This is our goto sushi restaurant for many reasons- The staff is friendly. The fish is fresh. The menu has plenty of options for non-raw-fish eaters. It can get very busy especially on Friday nights so if you order to-go, as a regular, I suggest that you budget 20 more minutes on top of the time they say it will be ready. But its so worth it. The food is great! For the dine-in crowd, they have indoor and outdoor seating and do their best to accommodate larger parties.“

Massive menu, plus there was a happy hour that cut appetizers and roll prices by a few bucks. The value was pretty good compared to other sushi restaurants in the Bay Area The tastes of the rolls and food varied. For the cooked items, they were all fairly reliable. The udon was loaded, to katsuo well fried, and tempura not bad (although odd choice of the veggies included in the mix tempura, including bell pepper). The cooked rolls were a bit heavy handed of sauces (and cheese, perhaps, on the Bob roll), and weren't too my taste, but the dragon and CA roll were good. Anything involving raw started to get inconsistent. The John roll was fantastic, but the tuna tataki had a odd sear that made the taste off-putting. Overall, the food is about average, but with the great value during happy hour and the positive staff service, I can justify coming back here again, especially for late night eats.“

Often uncrowded, the employees are so attentive and happy to welcome you in. They have a great sake selection and their fish is always fresh and well prepared. Not only that, but the hot-menu items from appetizers to main are delicious. My brother always gets karaage while my dad enjoys gyu-kaku and chicken teriyaki. “04/20/24- Tried Mama Sushi based on Yelp reviews. Place is small but service is friendly. Ordering can be challenging as the menu print is too small. I find myself taking a photo and then zooming it to see the picture and read the menu! I saw the other customer did the same thing, look in the menu, took a snap and zoom it. The ordering system is like in Japan as there is a clean paper with names of the items and you circle it and how many you wanted. I got a chance to meet Mama and Papa Sushi! There's no other server but just the two of them, cooking and serving. Very few tables. Tasty and fresh sushi. Ordered beef ramen, spider roll, jalapeno da bomb and Mama Roll! They also provide cute complimentary bottle of water for each customer. This is a good idea that they don't need to use glass and pour water. More sanitary in sealed bottled water! It is located in a small, slow area but once people knows about it, they'll go there no matter where it is hidden! My suggestion is to revise the menu into a bigger, more readable menu, even if pages needs to be added. Other than that, no other complaints!“
