I was going to eat here Sunday April 7th but they were closed. Then I saw a sign that said they were going to be closed for a week. Today Tuesday April 16, 2024, now over a week since I saw that sign, it was still closed. This time there was a sign that said something to the effect to all our loyal customers, after 20 years it has come to an end. I didn't get out of my car and I was not that close so I didn't read everything. But from what I thought I saw and read on the sign on their door, I guess this place is closed. I think I didn't want to get out of my car and read it carefully, because I want to think it is not closing. Then as I was on Hesperian driving away, there was a banner on the side of restaurant facing Hesperian and it was advertising a buffet during lunch so I was not sure if they had buffets during lunch as I had not dined there for lunch and I don't remember seeing it when I went for dinner a few weeks ago. The drawing of the food on the sign looked like Asian Food. I am bummed, it was my go to sushi place, so I will miss it. Well I came back again today to read the sign .

The sushi is not badI could say it's deliciousBut the way they treat you doesn't seem right to me.I think, but I don't say for sure, that maybe it's the fact that I'm Latina and the majority there were Asian.They passed and passed, and looked at us ugly.The truth is it is not the best service and if you have to pick up, pick it up because the service is not worth it.Save yourself the trouble.

The service was immaculate though it was really busy in the establishment. I gotta say I asked for a medium well done steak and I got a medium rare steak... was upset about it but remained humble do to how busy it was. (I know it's a sushi place) My partner loved her cooked sushi rolls(again I don't know what they were but she went in!) I will say definitely a go to when you are in the area if you love bento boxes and sushi!

Beware , they now automatically take their own gratuity tip for any size party. If you are two persons dining in , they automatically add gratuity to your bill . Isn’t usually for when it’s party of 6 or more? . Sushi ? is not fresh, and some waitresses are VERY rude. This place is not good like it used to be few years ago .??

Noticed they had a lunch special so gave it a try. Service was mediocre. Ambiance was blah. What's worse is that you can smell sewage as you sit there waiting for the food to come. The food wasn't good - ordered a teriyaki chicken (dry and hard) and fried fish (ok). Miso soup was salty. Won't be returning.

Ordered online to pick up an order for me and my girlfriend for Valentine's Day. Order didn't get printed out then had to wait another 1.5 hours to get my food. I also had 3 other people next to me say they been waiting for 1hr plus! Don't order online/ call in for pickup. You'll just be sitting at the bar talking to all the other people that did the same thing!

Just a clarification on the last review. The $60 was for two dinner bento boxes and it was unagi for me and lamb for my friend.

Tomodachi Sushi is a spot that my family gets sushi from occasionally. They have a decent sized parking lot, but it does not seem the safest at night. We had dined in several times, but we usually get to go from here, which I prefer because the parking lot outside at night is pretty dark and sketchy, while the inside has bad lightning in the dining area and dirty bathrooms. My family usually order a variety of sushi rolls, but I usually like the rolls with salmon in it. Most of the time, it tastes fresh, but on a few occasions, it tasted a bit fishy and off. My grandma does not like raw fish, so she goes for their Lion King roll and she likes how generous they are here with the fish roe on top, unlike other sushi spots. I like that their rolls are decently big as well.

Food was mediocre and service was ok and slow. Best item was beef udon. California rolls made with surimi. Not authentic.

This is my spot for sushi in Hayward. The rolls I get are consistent and they have a salad that is huge, a good bang for your buck. They have seating at the sushi bar, booths and tables. They have their private parking lot and offer beer and sake. Service is good and it's a good spot for a date, a girls' night or family outing. I will def be back. Review #95 of 100 in 2023.

Love this place!!! Their sashimi are sliced thick and their service is excellent! This is now my family's new favorite Japanese spot.
