Came here with a friend and were seated immediately!Good:- Great ambiance for catching up, a little dim inside- The Pad Thai was amazing, a ton of flavor and the shrimp inside was jumbo sized- The crispy tofu came with a really tasty sauce- The rice salad was great too! It had a lot of crunchy flavor and it was fun to eatBad- Took a bit of time for the food to arrive to our table- A little hard to flag down the serversOverall the food was excellent and thought that the only downside was the service.

I love their food even though some ppl might think their food is too flavorful. I'm Thai and their food reminds me of my mom food. If you look for authentic Thai food, this place it is.

Great Thai food, authentic ingredients, fresh! The Breakfast Pork was crazy tender. Papaya salad like Bangkok street food good. We also had the Wholesome Noodles, sweet-sour-spicy comfort! Check it out.

Great ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food. I recommend the breakfast pork shoulder, crispy rice salad, and wholesome noodle. Everything is tasty!

Tried out this place based on the reviews but I was not a fan. The pad Thai was way too sweet and chewy - though the prawn was good. The crispy rice was good but not outstanding. I also felt the restaurant wasn't well ventilated. It had a very strong fish sauce smell inside from all the cooking and all my clothes smelled like Thai food coming out of this place

Gave this spot a shot since I heard they had the best pad Thai. Did it live up to the $20 hype? Not really. The 2 pieces of unpeeled shrimp were a bit of a letdown. It had a slimy texture and a funky shrimp smell that totally killed the flavor. Spice level was pretty spicy. Portion? Kinda on the smaller side. Overall, not exactly what I was hoping for.

It's a causal spot on the edge of the Valencia corridor. The food isn't cheap here, but it's good. Space can get really loud. The service is friendly and attentive.

Great food and a warm and friendly atmosphere. Limited menu but incredibly flavorful and well worth the effort.

Unique Thai restaurant with funky decorations but found the food a bit underwhelming for the price. Tried the motherland curry with tofu and crispy rice salad. Both were good but not great. I liked the flavors in the red curry but I think there's other Thai restaurants in SF with better value for the price. The menu has only a few options for entrees and they were out of vermicelli noodles for the motherland curry so we opted to try it with rice instead. However, the service was great and our food came out quickly.

This place was not it. Food was poor / smaller portions, service was horrible with barely any checking in on tables, and incredibly slow. Try another spot.

SOOOO funky! I'm surprised that this place has a low rating overall -- I thought that the food and the service were both amazing. I've been to the original location in Berkeley and noted that the SF one is more upscale and has a larger menu. Very different vibe from Barzotto, whose space they took over :) For food, we got the signature pad Thai (5/5) and crispy egg salad (4/5). The pad Thai was the best I've ever had -- so flavorful, spicy, and a myriad of textures. The egg salad was also really delicious, but there was an overpowering flavor of dill, which we were undecided on. I will say, this place is not for the faint of heart. The music is loud and flavors are very punchy! Overall, Funky Elephant is probably one of the best Thai restaurants in the Bay Area (not just coz of the disco ball in the restroom).

Just as good as the Berkeley location. Some of the best Thai food I’ve had in the US. Perfect heat. 10/10
