“We appreciated the concept of using the dim sum style roving carts. The service was very efficient, helpful and personable. The ambiance and vibe was very lively and fun, but the noise level was high so, for some elders, it made conversation difficult. The variety of dishes were creative and fun to try. Since this was our first time at the restaurant, our picks from the roving carts were sort of pot luck so some dishes we loved and others, not so much. I think it would take another visit or two to figure out what to say "yes" to and what to say "no thank you" to, for our tastes.“

“Was seated surprisingly super quickly on a sunny Saturday lunch on the sidewalk. Took about 15 minutes for a party of 4. The menu is small, but everything that we ordered was big portioned and fantastic. From the grilled cheese to the mushroom toast to the scone (with cream!) to the veggie grain bowl, everything was hearty, flavorful, and delicious.“

“I had a great time during my last visit to The Progress while my parents were in town visiting. We tried: dumplings, artichoke toast, seaweed noodles, lamb and the classic duck. The dumplings were our least favorite - it was a bit heavy and not as flavorful at the same time. I'm generally just okay on artichoke, but I surprisingly really enjoyed the artichoke toast. The lamb was tender and flavorful. I also loved the umami flavors in the seaweed noodles and thought the springy texture of the noodles were just right! Our duck was great as well, which is their signature dish - highly recommended! For drinks we tried the one punch man and spiritual state. We like both drinks! I am a sucker for trying milk washed cocktails and am also a sucker for pandan, so I loved my one punch man drink - the pandan was strong as well! We accidentally spilled the whole one punch man when we were first trying out the drink and our server was so kind to replace our drink. Lastly, because we were celebrating an occasion, we were each given a shot of complimentary peanut milk! It was a bit sweet though - not something I would order on my own. Anyway, a great experience overall!“

“As a vegetarian, I was disappointed by the food. The tangine was odd in flavour, while the vegetarian pasta was super bland, with lots of sweet peas and very little pasta and sauce. The artichokes and cauliflower were also surprisingly bland. I was looking forward to trying this institution and left nonplussed.“

I love their rotating menu and delicious cocktails. I look forward to the next special occasion that we choose to spend at The Morris.“

“While overall it was a great meal, we did think the desserts we had, panna cotta and the crostata, could have been better. Everything else was great, particularly the Chicken Arrosta, the tagliatelle, supli, and salumi. Look forward to our next visit.“

“I had one of the best restaurant meals ever in San Francisco last night at Sorrel. The pictured dish is described as maitake / potato / dashi, the first course of seven and my favourite. The wine pairing was very good, and the service outstanding. Great celiac accommodation for me. Instead of the pasta based crab dish I got a stunningly excellent sun-choke risotto. Highly recommended for a special occasion.Dietary restrictions: I had excellent accommodation for my celiac affliction. Instead of the pasta based crab dish I got a stunningly excellent sun-choke risotto.“

“I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I am a business owner a few doors down and I wandered in with a friend after work one night about a month ago. We were met with such incredible warmth from the staff and the environment itself, even without a reservation. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Josh, only to find out later that he is the owner. He made excellent recommendations on everything from our drinks to dessert. The bar didn’t feel isolated from the rest of the restaurant and guests, but rather was lively hub frequented by kitchen and serving staff and warmed by a smoldering wood fire. The coziest. We swooned for the poke appetizer, complete with house-made toasted, but not crisp, blue corn tortillas. The pork shoulder tacos—also to die for. I have to say though, that the star on the sidelines was the beans. I honestly didn’t know I could feel this way about beans…but I digress. Josh bounced around from table to table all night, never letting a single ball drop, making every guest feel like *his* guest. A pot de crème sealed the evening in perfect bliss. I’m back a month later with the same friend, eating different and somehow even more incredible entrees: ribeye, halibut and a rhubarb crisp for dessert. I scarcely ever take the time to write a review as I prefer to vote with my $ and my feet, but I simply couldn’t eat here again without taking the time to sing it’s praises. Eat here.“

“Kiln is an incredibly unique experience with highlights across both seafood (lobster and scallop) as well as meat courses (squab was a particular highlight). Overall, this should be high on the list of most innovative and exceptional places to eat in SF.“

“Absolute perfection. My husband and I will remember this evening for the rest of our lives. The food was divine. Flavors, inspired. Service, attentive, delightful, and not intrusive. Each dish was presented with a brief but detailed description so that we could appreciate the food even more. You’ll want this to be your next dining experience. They take it all to the next level of sublime.“

“Went for Spring restaurant week. Got the steak and salmon option. Started off with their salad - yummy. Next is the pea soup - also yummy. Not as grainy as some pea soups can be. Steak made well with the aoili dipping sauce. Salmon also nicely made. Kids meal has a salt & pepper option. Dessert was a lemon pound cake which was a bit disappointing. Was dense and a bit too tart for me. Rustic setting. Definitely prefer the back near the fire place.Parking: There is a parking lot on 8th - if it is city operated, it is free after 6pm-otherwise metered. Street parking is free after 6PM and Sundays.Kid-friendliness: Has a kids menu option-more then chicken tenders and burgers which was nice. Salmon was an option with fries and seasonal veggies (currently peas).“

“Food: 5 This is THE BRUNCH to try in SF. Consistent perfection in every part of the dish - crispy potatoes, flavorful & soft eggs and meat, and fresh pastries/pancakes. If you ever get to sit at the bar, you can watch your meal being prepared in front of you. Service & Ambiance: 4 Understandably, wait times can be a little wild, and be prepared for the cold if you're seated outside (blankets provided). But even on crowded days, the staff are so kind! Wishing there was a queue system to receive a call-back rather than waiting in crowds outside the restaurant waiting to hear your name.“

“The food tastes amazing and the delivery driver was punctual although having said that, wax paper would keep the cheese from ripping up patches of cardboard after it slightly cools in transit and the butter for the pancakes was off to the corner mostly absorbed into the container and started to revert back to a solid.it would have been more efficient to package it in a sauce cup.the whole bottom layer of eggs ended up being inedible and the 7.50 delivery charge made the drivers tip uneconomical on a $20 dollar order.“

“It’s been 4 years since we last ate at Heirloom and it’s just as good if not better than before. This little charming place with its tall ceilings and old timey aesthetics reminds me of New Orleans. The menu is constantly changing to reflect the season and has something for everyone. The wine menu also has many wines by the glass and are generous pours. The presentation and preparation of the food was a delight and delicious. Service was also great and was quick to offer tastes of wines when I wasn’t sure about which one to order. The 3 course tasting was $100 with excellent wine pairing and could be ordered even if others were ordering a la cart. I’m always surprised Heirloom doesn’t receive more accolades, but sometimes it’s nice to have a gem like this keep its neighborhood feel.“

“We had dinner here last night for the first time. It began with the starters. The Gilda was delicious with white anchovy and olive. Then the smoked mussels and tartare. We have had good tartare before, never with hazelnuts. This was a nice twist with a delicate crunch. Main course, the table had the pork chop, halibut and hen. All were done very well. The beer list was great! They had beers from France, Quebec and a local variety. Finished the night with some very airy and fluffy beignets. They were amazing. I need to finish will how professional and great the staff was. Top notch! Excited to visit this place again to experience another wonderful meal.“

“Small wine bar in the heart of Russian Hill. Perfect spot for 2-3 people, since most of the seating is bar seating or communal tables. All the servers are knowledgeable about the wine selection and always have great recommendations. I love their orange wines and all the food is amazing. They make beautiful cheese plates and pair the cheeses perfectly with jams and honey. If you can't decide what cheeses to order, tell them what you like/dislike and they will curate the perfect board for you!“

“Had an overall enjoyable experience and would give this a 4.5/5. Great food selection but some minor areas of improvement. They had a well curated 5-course tasting menu available for Tues-Thurs midweek special. Reservations can be made online using Tock or for my large group I was able to email and coordinate. My favorite items were the Thai yellow curry crab pappardelle and filet mignon! Recommend these and would order again. Full tasting menu review: 1 - Fried oyster was nice and salty. Two pieces were fried well but not oily. Supplement - A5 wagyu dumpling tasted fine but was not special and the sprouts were awkwardly long. Had more acidic vinegar flavor sauce and I would have appreciated more fat/umami. 2 Instead of the soup I ordered Spaghetti squash fritter tasted overly fried in some bites 3 Thai yellow curry crab papardelle was nutty and warm with such soft pasta. 4 Filet mignon was so tender and perfectly cooked to a medium rare on their grill. Definitely some of my favorite items. Well flavored and balanced. 5 Dessert of hojicha coconut panna cotta while smooth was overly set and thick, and the granola was out of place with too strong flavors where you couldn't taste any hojicha. The service was excellent where the staff was very friendly and attentive, particularly to our large group. Water carafes kept cycling through our table seamles Note if you do make a reservation online you have to prepay the entire tasting menu. Parking around the neighborhood was pretty easy.“

“Love the vibe here! The decor and moody lighting make this is a great spot for a night cap or date. We had the burrata which came with bread, tomatoes, and sautéed green beans. “Delicious, seasonal food and great, fast service. We really appreciated our evening. The quality vs. price ratio is really great for San Francisco with the $75 prix fixe menu (before wine). Menu changes weekly but we loved the yellowtail crudo, wild boar (marinated for 14 hours!) and profiterole.“

“This is a fabulous restaurant within The Intercontinental on Howard. Bistro 888 is staffed by wonderful staff of The Intercontinental. The food shares a kitchen with the Michelin starred Luce. The staff tend to stay and remember returning guests. You can eat at the bar as an option, where you may meet both locals and travelers. The food is always delicious and reasonably priced, especially considering it's within a hotel, which often means overpriced meals. Our burger was a 10 of 10! Everything was great! We'll be back!!!“

“We went here on a Saturday night for a quick dinner before attending a private party in their patio area. We got there around 8:15 and were seated immediately. Service was excellent. Cocktails were tasty. We ordered a Cobb salad, two pork belly entrées, and some truffle fries. Everything was delicious. The pork belly came with a buttery polenta. After dinner we moved to the middle patio for a private party and service was awesome. I wasn't sure what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised. We chose tipsy pig because it was convenient and the same place as our party. I highly recommend this Gastropub.“

“Vibe is great; wouldn't consider it anything super fancy, but a nice place for a normal date night. Food was SUPER good! Portions were bigger than expected and everything was bursting with flavor. Service is very accomodating to allergies. Will say, service could have been better, but I'm a tough judge to crack, so I won't put it past them. Highly recommend!“
