“Vibe is great; wouldn't consider it anything super fancy, but a nice place for a normal date night. Food was SUPER good! Portions were bigger than expected and everything was bursting with flavor. Service is very accomodating to allergies. Will say, service could have been better, but I'm a tough judge to crack, so I won't put it past them. Highly recommend!“

“We appreciated the concept of using the dim sum style roving carts. The service was very efficient, helpful and personable. The ambiance and vibe was very lively and fun, but the noise level was high so, for some elders, it made conversation difficult. The variety of dishes were creative and fun to try. Since this was our first time at the restaurant, our picks from the roving carts were sort of pot luck so some dishes we loved and others, not so much. I think it would take another visit or two to figure out what to say "yes" to and what to say "no thank you" to, for our tastes.“

“After circling for parking, the reward of this delicious meal made it worth it. Pro tip: Sit at counter to watch the food being made! I personally love watching the chefs, makes it feel like an experience. Food Scallops from Maine: amazing, fresh, and sweet. The yuzu is *chefs kiss* Yuzudofu fresh with a side grated ginger, scallions, flakes were absolutely delicous. Get this. Mochi tofu pouch: super comforting. This flavor takes me to Japan. And it's so Cute! The mustard is POTENT. Clears my sinuses. Must Get this. As for grilled items, the chicken knee cartilage skewer or the chicken oysters were grilled perfectly and served hot off the yakitori grill, Amazing. Get this as well. Millefeuille katsu: this is a wonder in itself! Many layers of tender pork fried in in a tonkatsu. Beautifully cut salad on the side and so good even my friend who doesn't like salad liked it. I'd order again. Maguro yukke: I'd pass on this one. Hojicha panna cotta isn't too sweet and comes with syrup if needed (in the cutest container)! Service 5/5 amazing staff, proactive professionals without any pretentiousness! I left my credit card behind and they told me right away! Bathroom Two stalls. Designed with wooden doors and look outstanding.“

“I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I am a business owner a few doors down and I wandered in with a friend after work one night about a month ago. We were met with such incredible warmth from the staff and the environment itself, even without a reservation. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Josh, only to find out later that he is the owner. He made excellent recommendations on everything from our drinks to dessert. The bar didn’t feel isolated from the rest of the restaurant and guests, but rather was lively hub frequented by kitchen and serving staff and warmed by a smoldering wood fire. The coziest. We swooned for the poke appetizer, complete with house-made toasted, but not crisp, blue corn tortillas. The pork shoulder tacos—also to die for. I have to say though, that the star on the sidelines was the beans. I honestly didn’t know I could feel this way about beans…but I digress. Josh bounced around from table to table all night, never letting a single ball drop, making every guest feel like *his* guest. A pot de crème sealed the evening in perfect bliss. I’m back a month later with the same friend, eating different and somehow even more incredible entrees: ribeye, halibut and a rhubarb crisp for dessert. I scarcely ever take the time to write a review as I prefer to vote with my $ and my feet, but I simply couldn’t eat here again without taking the time to sing it’s praises. Eat here.“

“This is the old Palette restaurant space on Folsom. Logistically not sure how they got a Michelin star so quickly. They are on par with Californios. Sat at chef counter and had the 13 course prefix (~$450 for 2 people). Space was warm (2 hearth and open wood fired ovens) w great ambiance. Service was exceptional. Meal was fantastic - all seafood based and no pork / beef. Dishes were creative and rich / flavorful. Drinks were all $20-25 for cocktails and were probably weakest part of their experience. I would maybe get a bottle of wine next time. Out the door paid $750 for 2 people (4 drinks total) which included tax and gratuity which they include on bill. Definitely an expensive meal and night out, good for specialoccasion. Overall would definitely recommend. Great addition to neighborhood for sure, would recommend.“

I'd say this is your classic trendy "small plates meant for sharing" restaurant that has all the hype and none of the actual delivery. Prices are ridiculous for the portion sizes. “Went for Spring restaurant week. Got the steak and salmon option. Started off with their salad - yummy. Next is the pea soup - also yummy. Not as grainy as some pea soups can be. Steak made well with the aoili dipping sauce. Salmon also nicely made. Kids meal has a salt & pepper option. Dessert was a lemon pound cake which was a bit disappointing. Was dense and a bit too tart for me. Rustic setting. Definitely prefer the back near the fire place.Parking: There is a parking lot on 8th - if it is city operated, it is free after 6pm-otherwise metered. Street parking is free after 6PM and Sundays.Kid-friendliness: Has a kids menu option-more then chicken tenders and burgers which was nice. Salmon was an option with fries and seasonal veggies (currently peas).“

We enjoyed all the plates especially the pozole Roja and Baja fish tacos, both dishes so flavorful ($18/$16). I thought the prices were a little steep for two small street tacos and also the two chocolate chip cookie dessert. They were both very good - but priced too high ($8 for two cookies?) Buttermilk churros with a dark chocolate sauce were dreamy. Definitely order those to split, delicious.
