“My wife and I had the pleasure of working with Hahdough bakery to supply the cakes for our wedding. They were wonderful to work with and helped us to pick out the right 4 different cakes. Delivery was seamless and they worked with the venue for a timely drop-off. Our guests could not stop talking about how delicious the cakes were! It was a great way to offer our guests multiple options while being super affordable compared to traditional wedding cakes. Not to mention that the cakes were beautiful (see photos).“

Hahdough German Bakery Bakery • $
509 Laguna St, San Francisco

“A great place that doesn't really need another 5-star review. I visited both locations and was impressed with both, I met the owner at the Hahdough Kitchen on Laguna, she waited on me personally. At Laguna you transact your business via a storefront window. Fell street is set up like a regular bakery where you go in and select from items in a glass case. Wife sampled both the Black Forest and Gentleman's cake, opted for the latter. I was more for the Black Forest myself. I also tried the Berliner and Cinnamon pastry because I deserved a reward for my efforts. All were great. One heads-up: they close at 3p which is a rude realization when they call you at 2:40pm while you are en route via Muni and 40 minutes away, the day before wife's birthday. A quick disembarkation and Lyft ride later, all good.“

Wetzel's Pretzels Pretzel Store • $
865 Market St Space No. 9008, San Francisco

“I endure making my way through the busy mall, to indulge in a sweet treat, occasionally. My go to is the Cinnamon Sugar pretzel at Wetzel’s. I get the Sweet Glaze to dip it into. Very delicious.Thick, creamy, and so rich.I noticed that the price points have risen immensely, in the last year or so. Must be due to inflation. Still worth every cent, as far as I’m concerned. Their items are stellar. Terrific drinks and exceptional pretzels.“

“This location is inside of Stonestown Shopping Town. The parking lot is free but always packed! Wetzel is located where Target and the mall connect. There’s never a line, the customer service is not great. It always seems like having a customer is such an inconvenience, like we’re interrupting them being in their phone or something. ? Last time I ordered pretzel bites and they gave me unsalted ?. This time I ordered pretzel bites again and the cashier ASKED if I wanted salted or unsalted. They did NOT disappoint. The pretzel bites were warm and delicious. I want to try the cinnamon ones because yum!“

Old Tyme Treats Pretzel Store • $
1728-1798 The Embarcadero, San Francisco

“I rode my kick scooter to Pier 39 yesterday to take advantage of the cooler weather after we had just suffered from our recent heat wave here in the City. I went to the Old Tyme Treats kiosk because I was in the mood for a Corn Dog. The Corn Dog was very good and reasonably priced. This place also sells other treats, such as Cotton Candy, Churros, Popcorn and Pretzels; all at reasonable prices, considering that this place is located in the tourist areas near Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf.“

“Don't be deterred by the mediocre reviews! This place is a great place for a coffee, juice, quick lunch spot, snack, you name it. We got pretzel with cheese and a pretzel dog, for $14. Quick and nice service, clean facilities. They have a little condiment bar to the side with condiments, relish, onion, and slaw for the hot dogs. I was surprised to see how clean and well stocked the condiments were with plastic coverings for the condiments to keep it hygienic. There are also some bar stools and counter for seating along the side that provides a quiet, shady, and less windy spot on the pier. The food tasted good quality and not like the usual sickly fast food you'd expect. Pretzel was a little salty but you can ask for no salt or just brush some salt off. Would come here again for sure!“

“I live off these pretzels. I'm not joking, I have one a day, usually in place of lunch or as a midnight snack. Not exactly a health food, but far better than takeout or potato chips or something. By their own admission, these aren't quite German pretzels, but they're definitely not the flabby, buttered mall pretzels either. They aren't even the Super Pretzels you get at the game (though those are probably the closest analog). These are a very solid, dependable pretzel you can eat and love anytime. They have all sorts of inventive flavors, but I'm a plain salted classic man myself. Can't go wrong with the original; it's classic for a reason. Though I always ask for ones with more salt on them, since that's what separates a good pretzel from twisted bread to me. The real play here is to get their frozen pretzels. They're day-olds that they freeze at the end of the day, so you can feel good about combating food waste. But the real benefit for you is that they're half the price as the fresh ones, and taste even better than fresh if you pop them on your toaster oven for 15 minutes. Like, if you gave me the choice of one of their normal classics in the shop, or a frozen fresh out of my toaster oven, I'd choose the frozen. The only drawback is all the salt falls off in the packaging and freezing process, but you can just spray it with some water before baking and sprinkle on some course salt. This also allows you to control the salt level to your taste ("make it rain" is my philosophy) and the water spray helps the texture during reheating, so that the outside isn't tough and the inside is soft (this also works for any stale bread--spray the outside with water and reheat in a hot oven for 5-10 minutes for a fresh baked taste!).“
