“We had a very special dinner at Noodle in a Haystack. The food was all very innovative and delicious, and Clint and Yoko were so friendly and welcoming. They are true artisans and I wouldn't be surprised if they win a lot of awards. Highly recommended!“
“Noodles are perfectly chewy and loved all the toppings on my extra spicy chicken ramen (with a hint of sichuan numbing spice). The menu was a little different than what I had seen on Yelp so it probably rotates. Taking a star off since it was expensive for a bowl but regardless, great for an occasional treat.“

“Went here when we were desperately craving ramen!! Cute spot. We loved the calamari, it was great. Was a bit difficult to get water and ramen was not amazing. Expected to be blown away for the price. Spent $80 (2 peopl) with no beverages besides water and one app.“

“My husband and I missed our connection in San Francisco due to weather in Houston and crew problems. We decided to stay at the Hyatt Regency SFO and had dinner at the Quail & Crane. They were fully booked, but kindly sat us at the bar table, where we were able to see the kitchen operating at full capacity and we met the Chefs and kitchen staff. It was a VERY PLEASANT experience after a very long day of travel. The food and presentation was PHENOMENAL!The crab cakes were the BEST we ever had.A GREAT experience that we would repeat in a heartbeat and highly recommend to all.Thank you CHEF LEIF, J.R. and ALL!“

The food and vibe is hearty and made with love. No Reservations. Come over, put you name down, but you can enjoy wine or beer from a freat ludt inside or outsides as you wait. Shhh!!! Don't tell anyone else.“

“Tasty authentic ramen. Lovely staff. Serves alcohol, but it's not on the menu, so make sure you ask. Know that when you choose meat, you'll only get one type (i.e. fuku chicken karaage ramen does not come with pork from the base, which is not clear on the menu). Would come back again.“

“Came here on a Friday night and managed to get in without a reservation. I had heard about this restaurant and was really excited to try it. I got the signature pork ramen and thought it was alright. Although the flavor was good, the broth was overly salty compared to other ramens I have tried.“

“The veggie miso ramen has changed recipes and is not the same to the previous ownership. Devastated that I didn’t know the last time I had it would have been my last forever. I hope the new ownership does well here. But my search for my go to ramen spot sadly is beginning after tonight’s meal.Broth wasn’t hot enough. The entire dish tasted over salted. Positives: the new set up felt refreshing. The service was polite and welcoming.“

“What a little gem tucked in the heart of the city! After seeing two Japanese artists exhibits, we wanted to wrap up the day with some yakitori and thankfully we found this place. Really good selection of yakitori but my favorite was the pork belly one. The hubs liked the chicken. I would go back for the crème brûlée any day ?Would love to go here again to try their ramen which are promising based on the reviews as well.“

“Absolutely amazing ramen. I feel like I had a spiritual experience every time I went. Pork so tender, broth so rich, perfect egg. I have since moved out of SF, but I think about this place often. When I visit SF again, I will go to Marufuku. Eating here will elevate your quality of life. If I had to pick one last meal before I'd probably choose the hakata tonkotsu deluxe from Marufuku Ramen.“

“YOU NEED TO EAT HERE!! Sorry for yelling (lol) but great sushi gets me excited! We arrived on a Thursday evening at 7:30 with a party of 3 and were greeted and seated right away. First to the table was the soft shell crab with a citrus-based special sauce. Crispy batter. Just what you expect. Next came the karaage. My family and I always say if the karaage is good, everything else will be and that proved true here at Au Sushi. Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside served with a side of spicy mayo. And now onto the rolls! I can't even pick my favorite bc they were all absolutely delicious. Romantic roll, Double Toro roll, Hot King roll, Warriors roll, and last but not least the Diamond Heights roll. All were aesthetically beautiful and did not disappoint in the taste and texture department. The Chashu Ramen completed our meal. We will definitely be back and are very much looking forward to trying different rolls, different starters, some yakitori skewers, and one of the udons or donburi Thank you for the extremely enjoyable first experience at Au Sushi!“

“Best chicken I've ever tasted must get the fried chicken and gyoza appetizer that comes yum yum sauce?? I had a beef short rib and teriyaki salmon bento box. The other two got the millionaire tonkotsu and the miso soup. The only reason I took one star out for the atmosphere was because the music was too loud where we were sitting.“

“Great option for ramen on the outskirts of Chinatown located along the cable car line. I came here with a friend and their friend on a rainy night. It was pretty full but we were seated quickly. I love the flowers inside! We shared the Crab Wonton to start and things started on a high note. I liked my tonkotsu ramen and my friend said they'd get the spicy miso ramen again. The broth flavor was rich and thick, and I liked the creaminess of the egg and all the toppings.“

“Quickest 5 start review I’ve given. I was so excited to find a place that specializes in beef broth ramen because I don’t eat pork and this did not disappoint. The broth was so rich and creamy I drank every last drop. Also the bone marrow was delicious and they’re very generous with it. The bone marrow piece I got was small so the staff brought out another complimentary one for me without asking. I’m excited to came again and try the spice ramen!“

“Very small restaurant with a large menu, we got the 3 item dinner box and it was an immense amount of food for $20/box. The tonkatsu and chicken katsu were good, salmon teriyaki was flavorful, and the veggie tempura were very good. Each set also comes with a small salad and miso soup. The only disappointment were the kaki fry, the oysters weren't very good but I didn't expect much. We got takeout but I can tell the inside can seat 4-6 people, and the service was nothing special. We would come back for a cheap lunch / dinner in the future.“

“Ramen dishes and Octopus appetizers were excellent, and rice dish with chicken curry was quite good. Server was very attentive, quick, and genuinely polite. Not a luxurious establishment, but the quality of food, preparation, and service at these prices will keep us coming back.Parking: We dined very late, so after the street parking fee limit.“

“I came here on a Saturday night (~8PM) with a party of 5 and was able to be seated immediately. The restaurant has a cozy feel and can a little packed at times. Everything was ordered on our phones and our food came out shortly after. Tan-tan Spicy Miso ($19.50)- 4/5 One thing I love about Nojo is the broth! This broth was rich and packed with flavor! There is also extra chili oil on top you can mix in for an extra kick as well. The noodles were chewy and had plenty of cilantro on top. For the price, however, I would have expected more toppings on this ramen. Overall, a solid spot for ramen and would come back to try their signature chicken leg ramen.“

“I was actually jonesing for some good Japanese curry when we were searching for a place to eat.. I decided on Fumi because the Japanese curry before the ramen lol must be good if it’s first right? It was perfect and the ramen was really good too. I definitely recommend this place for doing “simply” delicious.“

“Kio - a nice spot! Super easy going vibe. Great service. Some tasty izekaya selections to meet all and any beer snacking needs one might have. On my visit - tried the soft shell crab sando and the okonomiyaki. The sandwich was super tasty, okonomiyaki was delicious but not my preferred style. Looking forward to coming back and trying more items from the extensive menu.“

“I actually don't care for their tonkotsu ramen...way too greasy. The chicken broth is much better. That said, despite "ramen" in their name, the yakitori is what steals the show. Love them all! The waitress takes her job seriously and goes above and beyond. Tip her extra!“

“Waraku: A Hidden Gem for Authentic Japanese Cuisine As a couple who appreciates genuine Japanese food, my wife and I were delighted to discover Waraku. From the moment we stepped inside, the ambiance transported us to a cozy corner of Japan. Here's why we were totally impressed: Authenticity: Waraku doesn't compromise on authenticity. The flavors, presentation, and attention to detail in each dish reflect true Japanese culinary traditions. Whether it's sushi, ramen, or tempura, you can trust that it's prepared with care. Great Ambiance: The restaurant's interior is a harmonious blend of modern aesthetics and traditional elements. Soft lighting, wooden accents, and comfortable seating create an inviting atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can unwind and savor your meal. Exceptional Service: Our server, Scott, deserves special mention. His knowledge of the menu, friendly demeanor, and prompt service elevated our dining experience. He went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome and well taken care of. In summary, Waraku is more than just a restaurant--it's a culinary journey to Japan. If you're seeking real Japanese flavors and a warm ambiance, this hidden gem is worth a visit.“

“Pretty fast service, no frills interior. Good ramen, not great. Shared the spicy tonkotsu and miso broth ramens. Noodles were good, but nothing special. The broths and toppings were flavorful and well executed. The karaage however was not--overcooked and hard, the best thing about them was that you won't have to worry about getting salmonella.“

“Very good food in a charming place.I enjoyed all the food that was served to me from the starters to the main dishes.Even small regular starters like the Edamame were really really good and tasty. I also loved the fried chicken starter, served with a nice mayonnaise dressing on the side. The ramen itself was also very good.Everything was served in big portions, which we weren’t able to finish. The service was good, as the waiters were particularly helpful with our requests to replace ingredients with others that were not on the menu.“

“An excellent place to eat Japanese food in Union Square, it also has other branches nearby in the financial area and China town near Kearny. The delicious ramen, there is a variety, the last one I tried was the tofu one, very delicious. Variety of accompaniments. Very attentive staff. But it fills up and sometimes you have to wait outside and in the cold that it is in San Francisco. Highly recommended ramen.“
“First visit after many deliveries for the fantastically rich tonkatsu during pandemic (I always got XXXtra spicy with fried shallots and extra egg). I did not know they had in-table barbecue - I was later informed that they merged with Camp from next door so basically we get best of both and a little more flexibility with the menu. I hosted some local relatives there who are mostly used to going to the usual areas of town for entertaining dining experiences so this was a nice departure from what can become a routine. The interactivity of doing your own grilling was such a hit and is probably best to do with 4+ people. Otherwise the Ramen is killer...“

“This is such a cute restaurant in the city!! Definitely one of best Thai food spots I've been to in a while. The ambiance is visually beautiful and great for date nights or small gatherings. A little understaffed during busy dinner time, but we also came at the same time as many other tables. Here's what I tried:+ Panang Curry with Pork (5/5): SO GOOD! Great portions. If you love your curry with a strong coconut creaminess, this is THE DISH you need to try. Great flavor, not spicy at all - and the pork in this was amazing! Tender, flavorful, and sliced thinly. A must try!+ Khao Mun Gai (2/5): Pretty disappointed by this one. The chicken thighs were SO DRY! Even with the sauce (which was great), the chicken was dry. Even the chicken rice was clumpy and not very flavorful either.+ Aloha Fried Rice (5/5): No complaints here! A good balance between all the flavors. Pineapple wasn't too overpowering and the shrimp were huge! I liked the cashews and raisins surprisingly, and the presentation was very cute.“

“Thai and Japanese restaurant, although I would say the menu leans more to Thai, with ramen being the Japanese highlight.Plenty of seating, we visited on a Sunday evening and it was not overly busy.Food:We ordered the Lunar wings, crispy chicken wings with a spicy sauce. I could definitely taste the fish sauce in this dish. Was a tad salty for me, could definitely eat it with some rice on the side. Wings were all flats, which honestly was a bonus for me.Then, as recommended by the reviews we ordered the pa lo stew which is braised pork belly and it comes with a braised garbled hardboiled egg and rice on the side. The pork belly was tender and fatty, the sauce brought notes of clove/cinnamon. Definitely a salty rice-chaser dish, again, a bit salty for me.Lastly was the pad see you, thick stir fried noodles, you can choose your protein but we ordered ours with beef. I liked that it came with a decent amount of greens too. Deliciously flavored, the texture of the noodles is quite good. Solid dish.Prices are fair. Service is a bit lacking, seemed like there were only 1.5 servers for 6+ tables.Still I would return and recommend, a great place for Asian food in this area. There are lots of other dishes I’m interested in trying like the curry and the ramen.Seating:Plenty of seating to accommodate big parties and small ones.Dietary restrictions: They're flexible on ingredients but probably still not nut safeParking: Parking on the street, mostly paid parking in the area.Kid-friendliness: Lots of room in this restaurant, venue and food are kid friendly I would sayWheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is on the second floor, you have to go up a flight of stairs, however right in front there is a wheelchair elevator.“

“Came on a Sunday around 5pm and there was a bit of a line - if you're a party of one, you're more likely to expedite your wait time - waited about 20 mins and was sat...ordered about 5 mins after that. The seating is all mostly communal tables, but have privacy barriers. Got the A5 Wagyu Ramen (meat was def super fatty and tender and has a wow factor since it's draped raw across the bowl) and the Signature Tori Paitan (spicy). Both were good and had rich broth, but I would say I prefer the signature ramen for its mix of pork and duck chashu. Noodles are very chewy because of the mochi/wheat mix, maybe a little too chewy for my taste but overall nice spot to try ramen in the city.“
