“I think I ate every“ wow that’s great banhmi! “ spot around lately and ;Pork banhmi = warm bread , well seasoned! ? I would put just little bit of more veggies to balance the meat and veggie ratio or add chunky peanut sauce which makes a perfect bite to swallow in every time.Egg rolls are served warm and I like that the fish sauce has the right density& salt.Ps. Don’t forget to watch rolling the king roll 101 video that I haven’t record yet lol -(yes pretty much joint rolling but better)“

“Remember the grade school taunt, "If you love something, why don't you marry it?" I totally want to marry this sandwich. In fact, I want to commit polygamy. These sandwiches are THAT amazing. The pork belly sandwich has these crispy nubs of deep fried pork skin, thoughtfully diced so that your teeth don't struggle, scattered on top of the filling of the most tender slices of pork belly imaginable. And the Le Dip? Don't get me started. The sirloin is perfectly cooked and shaved so thin that you get the mille feuille effect (Have you ever had mille feuille tonkatsu? Yeah, it's like that). The horseradish sauce is bracing, not overwhelming. And the sandwich fillings are nestled in this special Vietnamese baguette which is unlike a French baguette. It has a glassine crust that shatters the moment your teeth make contact and gives way to a pillowy interior. Eating this sandwich is the type of experience that makes you melancholy the closer you are to the end because you don't want the experience to come to an end.“

“The phở here was amazing. All of the ingredients were fresh and the broth was incredibly flavorful. The shrimp cakes were hot and fresh, the fish sauce seemed homemade and was delicious. They bring you Jasmine tea when you sit down. It was fragrant and not bitter. The restaurant was packed at 2:00 p.m. on a “

“By their own standards, this place is doing a good job. I found it a little overbearing, but I'll admit, part of what comforts me about Vietnamese restaurants is being left alone. I was not. I was even given instructions about how to order next time! One person working there seemed concerned I ate only half my bun bo hue, but I truly ate all I could and then some, it was just a lot for me. I think $20 is a lot for pho, but I was fine with that, as I was expecting it. I do wish the bun bo hue came with a pork hock, but the broth and the beef were so refined, that is not a complaint. More pork blood would be nice... but, I think they have perfected what it is that they do, which is all I ever want, personally.Would go back. They seem to foster loyalty; I can see why. They're very welcoming, and the food is comforting, as someone who grew up on SFV phoGot bun bo hue because it looked like everyone else did. Was happy with that choice. All the food looked pretty good.“

“In the area for work, Super nice and attentive. The lemonade is freshly squeezed and sweet! Would be good if they added some soda/club soda. The eggs rolls were cool, sorta tough, but good. The pho was good as well, the broth tasted well seasoned. I ordered the BBQ rib and prawn pho. I asked if it BBQ sauce on it because I am not a fan. He said no, but it tasted just like BBQ. It didn’t mesh with pho to me. So if I ever went back, I would try another option.“

“Seriously so tasty - beyond my expectations! And better than the first time we enjoyed this authentic neighborhoody spot. The flavors were both nuanced and comforting. The quality is superb, and the quantity is definitely satisfying. We had spring rolls with pork, papaya salad with crispy tofu, garlic noodles with five-spice chicken, and wonton noodle soup. All the textures were right on, and I was impressed how each protein we had tasted unique (it’s obvious they don’t just use the same marinade or seasoning blend on everything). Will be happy to go back and try more!“

“The crab was AMAZING!! I always get roast crab and garlic noodles. This particular batch of crab was so delicious and super fresh. Sometimes crab will have that metallic / strange taste (not necessarily at this restaurant but when I’ve purchased at the store or other restaurants), but mine and my moms were very fresh, cooked to perfection and finger licking delicious ?????????“

“Fellas, you don’t know how good you have it. I’m from NYC and I am confident that this is a superior joint to anything I can find. The last time I had something this good was in Toronto almost a decade ago. The bun vermicelli was the perfect thickness, and the five spice chicken so juicy. And getting taro in a spring roll these days?? Jesus go support this place!“

“Excellent Vietnamese sandwiches in SSF with reasonable prices. Ordered Crispy Duck Sandwiches ($11) and Combo Pork ($8)- wonderful balance of pickled veggies and protein. Devoured sandwiches instantly and was a hit for everyone. Crispy duck sandwich rates 10/10.“
“Pretty solid place for banh mi in FiDi. Got the 5 spice chicken and the meat is fattier. Sandwich was $10.16.Sauce adds more flavor and there’s a small kick to it. The pho smelled really good and would probably try that next. Viet coffee seemed a bit pricey—$5.75. Two spring rolls for $8.75“

“If you find yourself looking for a breakfast/brunch spot, come here! My dad has been coming here for awhile and I was in town visiting him so we we went to grab some brunch. Located just a little ways from fisherman's wharf it's a quick walk to get here. Ambiance and service: We were greeted by David the owner and his son Darren and chose to sit inside. They've got some seating inside and some outside for when the weather is nice. Everything is nice and clean and you can see into the kitchen so you know the food is made fresh to order. Our order was taken quickly and food came out quickly! Food: Their menu ranges from classic American breakfast, Chinese and Vietnamese food, and sandwiches. I ordered pho and a Vietnamese coffee and my dad ordered french toast with eggs and bacon. I've had a lot of pho in different parts of the US so I'm picky about my pho and this is hands down one of the most flavorful pho broths I've ever had. Good size portion with all the regular pho fixings. My dad always orders one of two things: french toast or chicken fried steak and according to him, both are delicious but I had the pleasure of of trying the french toast this time. It was cooked to perfection and not overdone in the batter or flavors. Overall, I'm glad I got to eat here. From the service, to the food, I enjoyed every bit of it. I can't wait to bring friends here and enjoy more meals with my dad!“

“It's quite busy here. The service is fast but you can order online in advance.Lemongrass chicken vermicelli (bun ga xa) was flavorful with sweet fish sauce.Turmeric catfish (cha ca la vong) was ok, not a lot of fish. It normally comes with fermented shrimp paste, which I believe is smelly so I ordered it with fish sauce instead.“

“Thought I had reviewed this long ago because this is our go-to Vietnamese place in the city! The food is consistently good and the family that runs it is just absolutely wonderful. We've been coming here maybe at least once a month since 2020 and we're still not tired of it. Anytime we come back from a hiking trip or travel, our first meal home is here. I'm vegetarian and the owners are mostly vegetarian too! It explains why their vegetarian Bún bò Huế is sooo good. It's spicy, it has this delicious, complex umami broth, there are always tons of fresh vegetables (still crunchy and sweet), and I love the amount of variety in tofu and soy protein they put in! A lot of places serving veggie pho and the like are petty lazy and just cut up some soft tofu slices at most, but at Thanh Thanh, they give you fried bean curd strips, fried tofu slices, some soy beef slices, faux shrimp...etc. This is one of the only places I've been as a vegetarian where I didn't feel like my food is second class or an afterthought. My husband likes getting their beef combo pho and also their BBH. Their banh mi is also delicious! French bread is always soft and warm on the inside, but nice crisp crust when you bite in. Pickled veggies are done right, and they pack it with your preferred filling (veggie ham or curry tofu for me). We also like the Vietnamese coffee a lot. The restaurant is pretty no-frills, just really simple, and why do you need more? The food is good, the people are wonderful, and you feel like you're eating with family. Prices have increased by $5 on average per dish since 2020, but we are more than happy to support this business as long as we can. I'll remember to take more photos next time and not immediately devour everything lol.“

“Great casual pho place. Very speedy. Lots of seating once you walk past the front, there's more tables upstairs. You get tea for your table too so that's a pleasant surprise. Plenty of sauces at the table for you to create your own concoction. I realllllyyyyy enjoyed the cha gio. The meat itself was salty but balanced well when you added the lettuce, cucumber, and sauce. 100% getting that again. Pho was delicious too and tasted "clean". I got the large and the portion was more than enough. Meat was delish. I got the wide noodles (you have options here!!) and I loved having a wider noodle in my pho compared to regular pho. Soup was good too. Would come back when I'm craving Pho!“

“I was hungry and didn't have time to wait and this was a perfect place to go if u in the Castro. Ordered Ham and Egg Bagel, Earl Grey Tea, 5 Potstickers and a Lemongrass Chicken Sandwich.... WOW I guess I need to expand my choices when in the Castro on where to eat. I am glad I came across this place and I am not gonna lie, food was out within 10min, but also, I went in on a Wed at 11.30am. Lunch rush picked up while I was here, but it will be interesting to see how busy they become on weekends. I am giving them a 5star on the first visit which is usually not me, but I will definitely check them out again soon.Wheelchair accessibility: It's wheelchair accessible and tables are accommodating“

“We loved Golden Era! I work in the TL nearby and went here with a coworker after he recommended it, and was delighted to see a healthy option with tons of interesting and delicious sounding dishes nearby. We got the Lemongrass "Chicken" Deluxe and the Fried Cauliflower, with a side of white rice. The Fried Cauliflower had a really nice thin, almost tempura like batter, giving it a perfect crispiness without being super oily or heavy. It also was served with broccoli, lettuce, and jalapenos, and had a delicious spicy sauce that I spooned over it and the rice. The Lemongrass "Chicken" Deluxe was my favorite of the two, with the soy protein cooked to a nice crisp with a pleasant chew as well, as if you really were eating chicken. My only minor critique was that the dishes were not as spicy as I was expecting (both were marked as being spicy), but the chili sauce on the table more than made up for the slight lack of spice. I will be back for more lunches!“

“I’m from Chicago, so I can’t say I’m used to having the greatest Vietnamese food on the planet. But this was one of the best banh mis I’ve ever had! It’s a small newsstand-looking spot, but somehow churned out nothing but good stuff. Vietnamese coffee was also great. And the woman behind the counter (perhaps the owner?) is just lovely. Excellent service. Definitely give this place a shot over the other coffee spots in the area.“

“Hai Ky is located in the heart of the Tenderloin, which for some is a no-go territory, but as I have started exploring more and more of it, you find so many terrific restaurants despite the rough surroundings I ordered a pork kidney noodle soup, #14 on the menu. The broth itself is very flavorful. The texture of the noodles are just right. The protein, the pork kidneys, are not pungent at all and have great texture as well. If you are craving teo chew noodles, this is definitely a top pick and I can't wait to come back and try the other dishes and noodles they have“

“We've eaten here a few years back, but this is the first time leaving a review. We wanted something a little different and not just pho, so we opted for this spot. We got there around noon and there were a a bunch of empty tables. Most of the booth tables were taken though. Just so you know, they give complimentary soy milk served hot or cold, but you have to ask for it. I think only old timers/regulars know about this. My bf got a hot soy milk and I chose hot tea. We both ordered noodle soup. #3. NG HIEP KY WONTON HO FUN SOUP: Flavorful soup with seafood, liver and wonton dumplings with medium flat rice noodles. The noodles are not the typical Chinese ho fun that is really wide. It's like linguini sized rice noodles. They give an average amount, but good enough to fill you. I don't care for liver, so I didn't eat it. But everything else was good! They also have a shrimp on top that's been fried with batter. I grabbed that first since I'd rather have it crispy than soggy. 4/5 #12. BRAISED DUCK LEG HO FUN AND EGG NOODLE SOUP: BF had this and enjoyed it. Tasty duck and having both kinds of noodles bring an interesting taste and texture. Not many places have this dish or in this area of SF. 4/5 All around a decent spot for a quick lunch!“

“Great service, cheap and delicious food, and fast. This is a takeout place that is great for a quick grab for lunch. I have tried their rice plates, spring rolls and Vietnamese sandwiches. Everything I had was really tasty. Best part is they accept credit cards and Apple Pay! Yes--you heard me right. If you want to avoid the lunch rush then get there 10-15 mins before noon.
