“We came on a Saturday around 11:20am and it was completely empty, I imagine they were just opening but we were seated quickly, given tea and we already knew what we wanted so we ordered pretty quickly. The food came over very fast for just being open! Mongolian beef 4/5: a little bit of a spice but nothing major, a good kick and the beef was really tender. Green beans 5/5: I usually don't get greens but my partner has been wanting to incorporate more so we agreed on these and they were really good, maybe my fav thing we ate here! Mapo tofu 4/5: very classic but done better than a lot of the other Chinese places I've been to around the area. Chongqing spicy fried chicken 4/5: they were great, had the spice I was looking for and will be a staple when I come back.”

Each contact with all staff thereafter was joyful and courteous. We were not from the area however as we were standing in front of the restaurant a local family was exiting and shared that they frequent the establishment once a week. “Great value and good portion of food! The chef's special seafood paella was very delicious and flavorful, with lot of seafood and only $25. Deep fried fish, calamari, and cassava is the second dish I'd recommend, good portion and the onions were even also seasoned! Seafood soup was pretty good and the soup broth was not too salty. The lamb dish and the beef heart skewers were fine, but might have a bit of strong smell if you are sensitive to that. Ceviche was pretty standard. Overall very good value and nice flavor!”

“Fabulous food. Great service. The atmosphere is a bit 1860's and 1940's. Lots of dark wood with lots of windows. I could see railroad barons sipping scotch and GI's stopping in for a drink before being deployed! Was there for lunch and the Carpaccio was flavorful and the Calamari was done well. Had the wedge salad and added the filet. Very yummy. Sat around chatting after lunch and never felt rushed.”

Restaurant Gish 1998 Homestead Rd Suite 113, Santa Clara American • $$$

“I finally had the opportunity to check out Restaurant Gish! I've had the place bookmarked for a while after reading one of my friend's reviews. Due to dietary preferences (i.e. I don't eat pork), I patiently waited for a menu that didn't appear to have pork as an ingredient. The restaurant was cozy and quaint, and it's kind of in an obscure location in a strip mall. I treated myself to dinner at Restaurant Gish and had an overall wonderful experience. I made reservations for 1 at the Chef's counter. What was cool was that the other guest at the counter was also treating herself for dinner and had never been to Restaurant Gish. The hospitality of the chefs were exceptional. They were all very pleasant and personable. In addition to sharing their inspiration and ingredients for each dish, they were fun just fun to chat with. Prior to serving the first dish, one of the chefs asked about my dietary preferences. I mentioned that I don't eat pork. He pointed out how one of the sauces had a sauce base, but he said they could modify the sauce without pork in order to comply with my preference. In fact, I learned that they modify ingredients all the time for guests. I don't have to wait so long for a menu without pork next time. Restaurant Gish offered a prix fixe menu. I opted for the wine pairings, which I thought went quite well with each dish. The last two wines paired with the entree and dessert were particularly outstanding. I enjoyed everything I ate, but I especially loved the lamb.”

I had a breakfast burrito in the way to an all-day training at the Levi's stadium. The food was a bit messy, but contained, and super good. “Insanely good bread. I stopped here randomly on my way to clinic. Definitely the most expensive pastrami sandwich I ever had but it was very very good. The meat was fantastic, not too salty and not that fatty. The bread is fresh out of the oven and melts in your mouth after a gentle crunch. No squeezing out of toppings. They know sandwiches. Too expensive to return but boy was it satisfying.”

Rocko's Ice Cream Tacos 2905 Park Ave, Santa Clara Ice Cream Shop • $

“My friend and I are foodies; she is vegan and myself dairy-free we're always on the hunt for good vegan ice cream! She recommended Rocko's for dessert and I couldn't pass up on trying an ice cream taco! Right when I stepped in, I knew this was a popular spot. Artsy paintings, a neighborhood vibe, and happy customers rolling in and out are what you'll find. There's limited bar stool seating inside but most take it to-go. Lines can be long or short, but turnaround is fast. They have desserts for all--dairy, vegan, and gluten-free options galore! You're able to build your sweet treat or get one of their signatures. I chose to enjoy a Tiny Ice Cream Taco, my flavor of choice being the Vegan Matcha Oreo. For toppings, I had Dark Chocolate and Sprinkles. The tiny was the perfect size and it can get quite messy! The matcha was prevalent and not too sweet while the taco had a nice crunch to it. My friend enjoyed her Tiny Ice Cream Taco as well! For those craving ice cream and a unique way to eat it, I recommend Rocko's Ice Cream Tacos! Find them easily off Park Ave. with street parking.”

“We attended the 2023 Juneteenth celebration hosted by the African American Community Services Agency in Santa Clara County. The festival was well attended and had plenty of food vendors offering their authentic signature dishes.I can't remember the name of the person I was conversing with at the back of the booth for Sandi's CobblerCups but he did share what they're famous for -- Gumbo, Jambalaya, and Peach Cobbler. Of course, my curious self couldn't pass up an opportunity to try some Cajun food perfected from a family who has probably passed down the recipe from generation to generation. We ended ordering the combo which was half Gumbo and half Jambalaya. Surprisingly -- I don't think I have ever tried neither so the appreciation for the level of spices used, textures, and flavors were definitely heightened. My date and I shared the plate and when I got too full -- he finished the rest of it which is an indicator that he approved and thoroughly also enjoyed the dish. There was no skimping on the sausage vs. rice ratio either so it is something to pick up for a very filling and comforting meal.I hope to support these guys at future events, festivals, and celebrations. It looks like the primarily operate in a pop up format at larger event gatherings. I'm sure I'll run into them again somewhere in the Bay Area.Support local y'all!”

Didn't like the breading or the dipping sauce: veggie selection was good. Miso soup was ok but 3 very small squares of tofu. I prefer a more robust recipe. Ordered a very nice orange roll to go. Again salmon was yummy. Price seemed ok for lunch. Since I enjoyed the roll/ sashimi I will visit again.”

Croissante 2908 El Camino Real #100, Santa Clara Bakery • $

“Really nice bakery with a lot of tasty stuff. I'll need to come back to try more!As others mentioned, expect a line to get in. It moves fast enough (maybe 10 minutes), but it feels like it's a bit inefficient. My only real complaint is that they could probably get everyone through faster. That said, if you come earlier (like before 8am, or maybe during work hours) I suspect it'll be pretty quiet vs 9:30 on a Saturday! The nice thing about that volume of people is they keep baking, so the stuff you get is really fresh and not running out. They obviously have a lot of viennoiseries, but they've got some other beads and tarts and cakes as well. We ended up dining in (took a bit of time to find a table, and for stuff to come out of the kitchen) getting the French toast and the chicken and croffles. The croffles were 10/10 and the French toast was maybe 9/10. Ordered coffee too, which was "fine", but not the same caliber as the baked goods. We also got a bunch of baked stuff to take home, (kouign amann, croissants, chestnut apple pastry) which was also all excellent. Prices are on the high end, but the quality shows, so it's not outrageous.Anyway, definitely will be coming back here in the future!”

It's Lunch Time 3205 Edward Ave, Santa Clara Cafe • $

“This place is so good. If you work in the North San Jose/Santa Clara/Milpitas tech circle, you've gotta stop by on your lunch break. I ordered online for pick up (they close at 1:30, so be sure to go before then) and I just grabbed it off the counter when I got there. Cute little shop located around autobody and small warehouse stores, you might miss it. But you shouldn't. Parking gets a little tough, but I just pulled my car in front real quick and hopped out. Onto the food. I got the bulgogi sandwich because some other Yelper had a very appetizing photo...and I did not regret it. Seriously, it smelled so good that I had to whip the sandwich out at the stoplight on Montague Expressway to catch a glimpse. Perfectly tender, salty, sweet bulgogi with the nice sour and spicy jalapeño- it couldn't be beat. I couldn't even wait to get back to my desk at work to eat it, I finished it in my company parking lot. Everything in San Jose is expensive now and this isn't the exception, but this is definitely going on my lunch time rotation- sorry Mendocino Farms.”

“Had a mediocre experience last time but I completely changed my mind. This place cured my jjajangmyeon cravings. The noodles are perfectly chewy, the sauce is flavorful, savory, and packed with veggies. Complimentary radish. Everything inside is clean and the service is exceptional. Checked on us and gave us everything we needed without asking, brought tongs and extra radish etc. Server was extremely nice. Wait was only 15 min and we had 5 tables ahead of us. It is a small restaurant with limited parking so I like to park across the street at the neighboring plaza and just walk. The prices are so good too with generous portions as one regular size jjajangmyeon fed me for two days (brought leftovers home). Tangsuyuk is also crispy and fresh. Love this place.”

“This was my first visit to any Carl's Jr. I'm quite a while, I'm guessing a few years at least. The only purpose for coming here was it was the closest fast food type place from my work location. Having looked at the menu online ahead of time allowed me to familiarize myself with their most recent menu items.Since my lunch break is typically around half an hour, I didn't want to take top long as traffic around 5pm weekdays in the area can take time. I opted for the spicy angus jalapeno burger, side of jalapeno bites, and a soda for my meal. Ordered at the drive thru, there was little wait. One thing that shocked me a bit was the total cost of the previously mentioned combo meal- over $17 incl. tax! Having tried most of the major fast food places, CJ's definitely tops the list of the most expensive, when comparing it to other major burger places in the area. The food itself was very good, and exceeded expectations as far as flavor and quality is concerned. Having never tried these menu items before, I thought they were quite delicious. Was it worth around $17? Not sure, but even though the quality of the food was there, this definitely wouldn't be something I'd be getting regularly. Maybe once every other week or so.Overall this location gets a good rating for the food & service, I docked a star due to the high cost comparing to other similar establishments.”

But if you are a fan of Panda Express, this place beat Panda by a mile. First of all, the service is great. The lady at the counter (owner) helped me picking out the dishes for lunch when I couldn't decide what to order. She also told me the history of this place while I wait for my orders to be ready. Second, the price is un-real in 2024. When I first read the menu, I was like, is this an old menu from years ago? All the dishes cost maybe 2/3 of what the going rate at other restaurants. I asked the lady about the price and she assured me that is the right price, LOL. Now comes to the food. To be honest, I was skeptical about the food with this cheap price. I quickly got home to try them, they were pretty good. The salt and pepper fish was still crunchy and tasted great, broccoli beef was also good. The Singapore Fried rice noodle is a bit plain but nothing a bit of spicy sauce couldn't fix. Last but not the least the Young Chow fried rice is also good. “We were greeted, sat down immediately, and given hot tea as we decided on what to order. I thought the tea they had tasted like there was cinnamon in it. It was refreshing and delicious! I couldn't decide on which flavor I wanted the chicken soup to be so I asked the server for their suggestion. They said that their black garlic is their most popular amongst the four so here we are! Black Garlic Ginseng Chicken Soup(4/5): It comes in boiling hot so be careful when consuming! The flavor is light with the taste of ginseng. They have a mix of salt and pepper that you can add into the soup or have it on the side. I chose to put it on the side because I wanted to dip my chicken in the seasoning, and taste the soup as it is! They give you black garlic on the side so it's up to you how much you want in your soup. I tried the garlic after it's been in the soup and it tasted sweet! The soup comes with a whole chicken and inside it was a nice surprise. There was sticky rice mixed with garlic and what looks like jujubes. The soup felt very comforting and just reminded me of home. A really good dish to have on a cold day! Overall a great experience and I would come here again to enjoy their other dishes!”

“Amazing experience!•This marks the fourth time I have been here since their opening and they have yet to disappoint. I love their small combo and I always get their seafood pancake.•Service was perfect. We had Dane as our server this time and he was great. The meat was well cooked and he was always attentive with our needs.•The restaurant itself is big but it can get quite busy, especially the weekends. However, there are reservations but I came in thirty minutes early prior to when I wanted to eat for the waitlist instead. Other than that, the vibes are nice and everything is well decorated!”

“Super cute small place. Doesn't look like they can accommodate large groups bigger than 4 easily.I like their risotto and their salmon mushrooms pasta the best. Noodles are chewy and nice. Flavours are all very nice and balanced. The lunch combo I don't think is that great because the soup and salad aren't very good.I would skip the bruschetta. The only one that is fine is the iruka one; the rest seem like something you can assemble from Costco ingredients. They're small and expensive; at 4 dollars each a sampler platter is 16. Just get takoyaki.Servic was very good and servers are attentive.”

“2023 has been a strange year, somehow me and my good friend both found gainful employment. And said gainful employment is a 12 minute walk from each other. So when you and the guy you drink with happen to be work neighbors, it only makes sense to go bar hopping during your lunch breaks. They have a 8/10 burger here, plenty juicy, plenty cheesy. And the fries arent bad. the ranch is different but also not bad but might not be what you're completely used to. Service was super nice here though, but I wasnt the biggest fan of the beers, felt the one from oakland had too many hints of curry flavor which really threw me off. Feel this place would be bustling after work though. Like really packed with workers from all the nearby offices.”

Naan's and Butter Chicken were good. Non-Veg Appetizers are Okayish. Biriyani's during weekdays, chicken pieces weren't fresh and was hard to chew.Ordered Mirapakaya bajji through Uber eats - it was stale, full of besan flour and guess the chilli was almost 100 days old.

“Came here with my dad and I to grab something quick to eat for dinner before going up to SF. We ordered the stir fried fish (清炒鱼片) and the beef noodle stew. Really filling and hearty, family style dish but we did see lots of couples around us that ordered one to three dishes so YMMV (depends on your appetite!). I really enjoyed the broth in the beef noodle stew, it was not too salty and came with a good amount of vegetables. Noodles were QQ, the stir fried fish was delicious and aromatic. The tender texture paired with the crunchy leafy greens was well balanced! Overall, authentic Eastern Chinese fare in the Rivermark Plaza- a well maintained and nicely groomed area nestled in the middle of corporate Silicon Valley. No complaints about the surroundings, but when you go inside it's as real as you can get. Service is good and the interior is clean, lots of seating and the waiters are friendly!”

“Always dine in there. The dim sum is so authentic and, very important to me, handmade. (I personally dislike machine-made dumplings from supermarkets because they are too soft instead of chewy.) The ratio of vegetables versus meat in each dumpling is very reasonable and I’d like to learn their recipe.Besides their dim sum, I also like the cumin lamb, Hunan Spicy Pork, Salt & Pepper chicken wings, Fish Filet in Hot Chili Sauce and Seafood Spicy Hot Pot. “First time coming here since I'm not a big coffee person. My brother recommended this spot, so we went after lunch to get caffeinated. I like that they have the big screens that you can order from since I suffer from social interactions when it comes to ordering. It also helps when you don't know what you want, so you don't feel rushed to order. I ended up getting a caramel frappe since it was hot outside when we came here. The one thing that made me like this place a lot is that they even gave me the leftovers from the caramel frappe I ordered instead of trashing it. They put it into another small cup and gave it for free. While waiting for our drinks, I looked around and the whole coffee shop was packed with people inside. I also got to see food that was coming out and my god, it looked delicious. I don't really like coffee, but I would come back just to enjoy some food and good conversation. I think they do have other drinks besides coffee here, but still. :)”

“If you're craving a burger this is definitely the place to come to!! SO much variety and they make their own chips and provide free pickles which are very refreshing to add to your burger!! Went here for a dinner with friends before a comedy show and I love that they're open all day so we could head over for an early meal before our 7pm show in Santa Clara! The person taking the order was so friendly and the process is so easy with the huge menus - easy to read and with SO MANY choices - burgers, salads, sandwiches, wraps, tons of sides to pick from in different sizes. And their drink selections are great - I LOVE diet dr. pepper which many places don't serve so I was super happy!!! The drinks are a self serve which is super helpful. They don't leave out napkins but servers walking around are happy to provide extra for you when you ask. So you order - get a number - find a table (which there are many options with high tops, regular seating, bar seating, outdoor seating... The food comes out fairly quickly and it's DELICOUS!! We got the ABC Burger which has avocado, bacon and cheddar cheese! My friends got it and devoured it. They said it was really good... They also enjoyed their sweet potato fries! Love the waffle shape and they had different dips they provided which were delicious. I got the Havarti Shroom! SO GOOD - especially when you add in the pickles! Hubby got the Seared Ahi Tuna Sandwich which he also devoured - having the skinny crispy fried onions provided a lot of texture and flavor. I may have to get that myself next time. And we shared a side of onion rings - crispy - wasn't oily tasty with a super light batter. For a "side" they give you a lot... I also added pics from our first visit there when they first opened. I got the short rib grilled cheese sandwich! OMG DECADENT... I LOVED that sandwich and SO filling! Hubby went completely opposite and went healthy and got the falafel wrap which he enjoyed - was light and tons of veggies with the falafel. LOVE this place - service is great - friendly and fast. and FOOD and options! hands down the BEST!! I love they give you so many options - decadent to healthy!!
