“This is the cute little café stand in a food hall in New Britain Connecticut. I wanted to find a place to have a coffee and chat with some friends, and this place is located inside the assembly room food hall. You will not see the name of this café outside. Parking is street side. I had the chai vanilla drink without the espresso shot and it was still very delicious. If you're looking for a nice lounge place w sofas and numerous tables would come to the assembly room food hall! and get your food and drinks here. The note I want to say to the food hall is they need better signage and advertising. There was no way anyone would know this place existed when driving by.“

“The woman working here was very friendly and helpful. I got an aloe mango strawberry peach tea and it was so good. My son loved the baby shark drink. Great way to start our day. Very happy I found this spot and will be returning.“
“On a snowy day, recently, we took off with the intention of getting into trouble. We lamented the fact that our favorite New Britain dive bar had gone down-hill (irreparably, it appears). The place we frequented downtown closed suddenly and the promised new owners haven't yet materialized. So there we were, nothing to do, and plenty of time to do it. I wanted to buy cold cuts to eat when we went home, so I suggested we go to Broad Street and visit a Polish market that I'm fond of. We stopped at the Staropolska for a bite, and decided to drive around, and lo and behold, came upon the Dug Out Cafe! We are big fans of afternoon drinking when we have time. This is the place to do it. The bartender was a stately older gentleman whom we suspect is also the owner. He served our Budweisers ($3 ea) with grace, and even asked if we'd like a glass (I did; best buddy didn't). They were icy cold. He was so nice, I tried a mixed drink. WOW! A nice pour at a low price. As the snow fell outside the window, and we sat in the warmth of the heat, and the company, we agreed that we'd found yet another great dive bar. We've only scratched the surface of this gem!“

“An absolute gem of a place! The Zapiekanka was as good as any prepared by someone’s mom or grandmother! The coffee was fresh and strong! The atmosphere is welcoming and the owner is the kindest man!I am in town for my son’s therapy and felt normal for the 2-3 hours I was at the cafe!
