“Best pizza in New Haven hands down. Great sauce to cheese ratio with the crisp burnt edges to round out a high quality pizza. One recommendation is to call in an order earlier in the day for evening pick up, otherwise you may be ordering elsewhere as the number of orders piles up quickly!!”

“I feel like a lot of people don’t know that there really is an embarrassment of riches of restaurants in New Haven County. If you love good food all you have to do is look around here. Dad is the one who made the reservation at Fair Haven Oyster Club (I’m pretty sure you must make a reservation, the spot is small and if the weather is bad the only seating is the bar and a row of two tops behind the bar). I looked up the menu and it looked pretty SPECTACULAR. Reminder: I don’t eat beef, pork or poultry. Lots of times my choices are somewhat limited when we dine out, not at Fair Haven. WOW. Now, if you don’t eat seafood I’m pretty sure you’re out of luck. I don’t think there was anything vegetarian, let alone vegan. Note: Dad reserved “in the bar” on Resy. Turns out that is stools AT the bar. “Dining room” is the two tops that are right behind the bar. So choose wisely. Outdoor seating I think is weather dependent and we got the most spectacular evening last night. We arrived very early for our reservation because we were out and about anyway and it worked out because they sat us out on the deck overlooking the water and the boats. Hands Down now of the very best settings I have ever dined in (and I have dined all over this country and world). Weather was perfection, beautiful blue sky, big, fluffy clouds;s tide was going out, water was crystal clear; across the Quinnipiac River you could see old homes and an old church; off in the distance I could see the cars and trucks on 91. I LOVED THAT. I was a little worried when they gave us tiny water glasses. I drink water. Plenty of it. But they kept those little glasses full. Which is no mean feat when the place just got progressively busier and also, keeping water glasses filled is a common “weak point” when I eat out. The service here was ON POINT. While Dad was griping about the QR code menu I ordered a Hendrick’s and Tonic. Just because they looked like their cocktail game was strong. FYI, most places make terrible, undrinkable gin and tonics. Not Fair Haven Oyster Club! They served me the perfect G&T, even in the correct highball glass (!!) with super fizzy tonic water (!!!). That G&T set the tone for the rest of the meal…knocked directly out of the park. The menu is broken into Raw (they have an impressive oyster selection and caviar service, if that’s your thing), soups and salads, small plates and large plates. My plan was to eat my way through salads and small plates. I did order Scallop Crudo (olive oil, lemon, salt, herbs) and Tuna Crudo (over foie gras mousse on a brioche cracker) for the table. But then I ate them… Dad ordered Gildas to share (tiny skewers of anchovies, piparra peppers, castelvetrano olives & Mahon cheese). Super fun bar type snack. Things I ate: Fair Haven Clam Chowder. Which really tasted like a very good escarole (it was actually kelp) soup with clams. Baby Butter Lettuces (w/fried oysters, green goddess, bonito). This is EVERYTHING a salad should be. Delicious, filling, fresh, UMAMI. The fried oysters make it a legit meal. Heirloom Tomatoes (w/bottarga): beautiful, delicious tomatoes served in the most Umami-forward way possible. Uni Toast (w/ white shoyu, sesame & chive). I eat A LOT of Uni. Because I eat A LOT of Omakase and Kaiseki in NYC. So, for me? There are better ways to savor Uni. But, again! UMAMI BOMB. And I am always here for the Umami. Mom and Dad ordered the Grilled Black Cod (over cucumber & snap pea salad w/ kelp ponzu & shiso). SNAPS to them for stretching outside their culinary comfort zones after I explained o them that Black Cod is one of the most delicious fish out there and ponzu us right up their alley! This dish is just glorious: Perfectly grilled fish adrift in a sea of incredibly fresh and delicious vegetables. The snap of those snap peas was perfection. For dessert we ordered Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with honey fennel pollen & wild fennel. I. LOVE. Fennel and will eat it in any form. This really did not taste of fennel. But! This was one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever h”

“they have the best people! a lot of stores close quite a few minutes before the stated closing time, but olmo still took my order one minute before their closing time! i saw a family of five with little children who wanted to visit the shop a few minutes after the closing time and they still let them order. i thought it was super kind and thoughtful of them. plus, they have such gooooood bagels!”

“Olea, is a top tier restaurant, creative and exciting yet grounded in the Spanish way. The drinks were very good I had the signature Manhattan. For appetizer the ceviche mixto was amazing, originally thrown off my the red sauce but WOW it was such a compliment to the lemon and seafood. My main meal was the fish of the day (Black Sea bass) and it was cooked to perfection and placed on butter beans and a mild yet appealing salsa verde. Food was on par for a great restaurant in any major city. We are so happy to have one of this caliber so close to home.”

“Tavern never disappoints. I recommend reserving ahead of time or even just calling ahead as, while their location is cute and cozy, it is a bit small. We’ve been several times since we moved down the street last year. Their menu is often changing and the octopus is definitely our favorite. I always recommend this place to visitors.”

“I am an active duty Navy Chaplain currently at Naval Station Newport, and I recently ordered a Shabbat meal from Ladle and Loaf. Benny and his team did a phenomenal job getting our order ready. They were more than happy to prepare us a meal so we could celebrate Shabbat with our fellow Jewish Chaplain. Not only was the food delicious, but Benny went above and beyond to make sure that all Kosher rules were followed so our Chaplain could eat the meal. Not only that, Benny sent the order over two hours away by driver to our base, at no cost to us. This kind of service is truly exceptional. He messaged me to make sure that the meal arrived, and was so kind. We are truly grateful for this amazing service, and hospitality so we could enjoy a Shabbat meal on base in fellowship with one another. “One of my favorite pizza places. Their sausage is fresh and they give healthy portions of it on their pizza. I describe their pizza as heavy in that you can't finish a whole one alone. I frequent this spot especially when I don't feel like driving across town.”

“The standard by which all mixology establishments should be judged. I would give Ordinary a 10 but apparently my screen only has room for 5. I have been coming here for years and they keep surprising me with incredible gastronomic adventures in both liquid and solid form! Try a double-patty Doodle Burger with one of Ben's Old Fashioneds. The staff - well, they got the "Enlightened Hospitality" thing before Danny Meyer invented it (I think ?). You always feel welcome, warm, and cared-for. The atmosphere is richly enveloping, dark woods, a moosehead, Bearskin hat, and fireplace complete with simulated fire! I think they should add beds so we could just stay there. Well, maybe that's a little scary.”

“Service is variable. Last time I went to Barcelona in NH I arrived a little after my friend who just stepped off the train. I guess she thought the olive oil plate was for her olive pits, and since bread didn’t land on the table before her food got there when our bread finally arrived the server just poured oil onto the olive oil plate with the pits in it and told us to dip around the pits instead of replacing the olive oil plate. We actually thought it was very silly and funny but if we weren’t so close it would not be aceptable. Other than that weird interaction the drinks were good the food was good and the main server was attentive and pleasant. I worked through grad school at the west Hartford restaurant and will be having my bridal shower at the Fairfield location so I’m rooting for a little more attention to detail to become a priority again!”

From the first bite, it was clear they made the burgers from scratch. The burger meat itself was flavorful, not just bland. The fries were also so good, perfect blend of crunch and smoosh. My husband got a shake and really enjoyed it. We also got a cupcake for our daughter, which she said was absolutely delicious. “Outstanding food in the heart of New Haven. It's a small, clean place with huge portion sizes. The service was attentive and the staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the different dishes. I had the lomo saltado (classic Peruvian stir-fried beef dish with fries) and my dining partner had a Peruvian rotisserie chicken sandwich. The food is flavorful and an assortment of sauces were provided to add different flavor profiles - spicy, sweet, tangy, etc. We sampled some sauces, which tasted great, but the food was well-seasoned, so we did not need to add any sauces. We both left happy and full. On another date, I also ordered an arroz con mariscos (rice with seafood). There was many pieces of seafood (mussels, crab, shrimp, squid) and it reminded me of the times I had paella in Spain. Icaru is an excellent addition to the New Haven food scene and is a must try for people interested in exploring the diversity of dining in New Haven!”

The bread was incredible, i would order just the rolls if that was an option. We placed an order on Friday night through UberEats to be delivered after seeing an up to 60% off promo code emailed to us in addition to a Buy 1 Get 1 free Chicken Sandwich promotion. The bread was incredible, i would order just the rolls if that was an option. I was hoping for some side options as your typical italian delis offer (pasta salad, potato salad, etc.) but that didn't seem to be an option. I will be back to try something else. “Don’t understand the mixed reviews, I’ve been ordering takeout from this place very often for three years and the sushi is always of great quality and very fresh. I’ve gotten salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and shrimp tempura sushi and it’s always been well prepared, neat, and tastes amazing. The food comes out real quick too, and you can get a good amount of sushi for a fairly good value. Can’t speak to anything other than the sushi here, but would definitely recommend to a friend.”

“We got a table at Harvest for New Haven restaurant week. The options were so plentiful, and it was a great value for the price. I wish there was more than one dessert option and that the juices were available to order, but the crepes were yummy as were the mocktails. The atmosphere is very unique, given the downstairs location. Definitely will be visiting again!”
