“Superb panaderia, far better than any I went to when I lived in Arizona. "La tapatia" means "woman from Guadalajara," and it turns out Guadalajara is renowned as a foodie spot. Rightly so -- this little bakery has a huge variety of huge pastries, reflecting the variety of Mexican baking, including its French influences. For $8.50, I came home with four gigantic pastries, including bigote con crema, broca with chocolate and coconut, and something that looks similar to ricotta pie. This morning they definitely had bisquets, besos, abanicos, a raisin sweetbread, cubiletes, the usual muffins and conchas, and lots more that doesn't stick in my memory but looked promising. Trays aren't labeled, so I just picked whatever looked most intriguing in the moment -- it's all fresh and high quality. (I know from experience that I like every flavor conventionally used for fillings in pan dulce, though.) In true panaderia style. you take a tray and a set of tongs, and you serve yourself. The nice person at the counter wraps your pastries and takes your payment. I'm eyeing Google Maps for a comfortable walking route, so I can justify going here more often.“

“The shashukka is out of this world good. The little mushroom pastries are incredible. Their garlic knots are FANTASTIC. BUT I also had the gluten free pizza and wasn't impressed. The stuff on top of the crust was divine the crust itself was kind of a miss. It wasn't bad just uneven thickness and therefore it cooked unevenly and some parts were great and some were meh. Anyway get anything else and I'm sure you'll be happy!“

“I used to come here when I lived in New Haven! What a joy. Haven’t lived in CT in several years but this market just popped into my mind. Brought a smile to my face just remembering the really really early stages of my health journey. Thank you for being a place of not only fresh food but mind expansion. I would spend hours in there just reading about the vitamins, supplements, health foods, etc.! Really a wonderful time!“

“This market / cafe is a wonderful place for niche grocery items and baked goods. The interior is clean and cute, but there is very little indoor seating. There are lots of outdoor tables, and the food comes out quickly! It's mostly self serve and you can pick up disposable cutlery if you are eating there. BLT: The bread was toasted to perfection, and I really enjoyed the sauce. I wished there could be a bit more bacon. It was really tasty overall but underwhelming for the price.“

“My husband surprised me with a Princess cake. I mentioned I’d love to try one after seeing it in a baking show. He searched online and Marjolaine’s was the only place he could find. He drove over an hour to pick it up and it was well worth the drive! We just picked up a Dacquoise. This one was a request from our daughter. We tried a smaller version that was in the case. It was absolutely delicious! So light and airy and the flavor was divine! We are driving this cake all the way to NC and are 100% certain that our daughter will be thrilled ! We are heading back in the beginning of April for a Marjolaine for our daughter in law. It is well worth the trip!!!“

“This was my very first time in this one particular and I was very much impressed with its cleanliness, elegance, and a majority of the presentation of their baked goods. 4 out of 5!!!! I’m terribly sorry that you lost a star but that matcha brownie tasted absolutely disgusting. Never again will I buy it!!! Sorry sweetheart but it’s lacking sugar. However I do love the sweet cream filled bread you sold me. Thank you very much for helping me figure out what I want for breakfast tomorrow. Lastly, the cream green tea cake was absolutely divine. All this from being served by an incredibly gorgeous and really cashier/manager who I had to tip handsomely. I’ll definitely stop by on payday to give their specialty caffeinated drinks a try.“
