“I stop in here from time to time for late breakfast or lunch while at work and each time I leave with exactly what I ordered. Very consistent and affordable spot that used to take only cash and now takes card - which is nice. Some limited outside seating is available but this place is mainly a takeout location. Menu has all the standard breakfast items and they are available all day. The biscuits and gravy are basic but hit that homestyle taste for a bargain. I've never ventured outside of their breakfast food but I have no reason to doubt it's quality. If you need a quick and affordable breakfast/lunch this is your spot just south of DuPont Circle and by the Farragut Red Line Metro.“

“I just ordered through DoorDash and my goodness is it good. I got the platter with chicken, fries, and the side village salad as well as the spanakopita (spinach pie). Everything was warm, delicious, and flavorful. I especially loved the spinach pie and the spicy feta dip. The side village salad wasn’t overly flavored with onion, which as someone who doesn’t love onions, I was thankful for the minimal amount.“

“Ordered the salmon wrap and our was really good. I wasn't sure about the feta sauce that came with it but it was actually so rich. They put plenty of salmon on it so it was hearty and filling. The hot sauce went perfect on it! One thing I would ask is that the vegetables are fresher, would been nice to have bitten into a fresh, cold, crunchy.I also ordered the broccoli crunch salad which was also delicious. I tried the housemate humus and it was alright, little clumpy and not potently flavorsome enough for me. Needed more lemon, spice, or something. They have lots of other sides and options though.Service was excellent. The place is like an old house with outdoor seating.Highly recommend for lunch. Priced ok, could be slightly more affordable.“

“Marx Cafe is a Mount Pleasant gem. I often pop in for a quick dinner and always leave happy. (Tip: Get the avgolemono soup and ask for black pepper!) The menu is reasonably priced, and the staff are all great. Yes, the space is small and often crowded, especially when the live jazz band performs, but that's part of the charm. It feels a lot more authentic than a lot of pricier options in the area.If you're looking for a place that can be your local bar, then this more than fits the bill. I'm moving out of the neighborhood in a few months; I'll miss having such an awesome place be only a five-minute walk from my apartment!“

“It’s not going to blow your mind but it’s a pretty solid option if you don’t feel like cooking. I grab the gyro maybe once a month when I don’t feel like making dinner on a weeknight. We also get the tzatziki or the falafel every once in a while, they’re both good. The place looks clean and the staff is nice, I think it’s a great value for the price and it leans more towards the healthier side than other pick up spots in the area.“
