“First off the service was great. They were very nice people. There are more tables than you'd expect but I imagine at busytimes might be more of a take out destination. And it seemed clean and bright inside which is good. The best food was the burger, juicy...it was a good solid burger. Kids weren't as big fans of the chicken gyro (would've gotten the real gyro but there wasn't much left, which probably means it's popular, when I got there, so would try that in the future). Fries were decent. They make the shakes from scratch (just probably need to clean the blenders (and/or ice cream scoopers) more btw uses as the plain chocolate shake had a strong minty note (also I wasn't paying attention but chocolate shakes gotta still have added choc syrup, I dunno if it did, which prolly means no). Oh and gotta use fresh bananas for banana shakes, syrup or powder, to quote the bard Mando, just isn't the way. And that might be my biggest gripe with an otherwise really solid diner-like joint.“

“I think they can be better in the speed of their service. Also availability of products. They didn't have the Taro milk boba, their boba are clumpy, they only had 2 flavors of donuts left. We were told they are making new ones but had to wait at least 30 minutes. Corn dogs are pretty good. Vibe of the place is pretty chill.“

“Try either of the hot dogs. My favorite was the Whoopskidawg. My husband liked the Superdawg better. Great place for trying authentic Chicago food and the history is great and atmosphere was so fun! We tried 2 types of beer also and they were very good with the dogs. Oh and a chocolate malt for dessert was nice to take on a walk by the river behind the restaurant.“

“I've driven past this place so many times and I finally decided to try it out. Only carry-out and delivery right now with the pandemic. I ordered 2 Big Island Classic burgers, 1 smokehouse burger, and another basic burger with one small cheese fry. It took 25-30min for preparation. This seems to be a 2 man operation (dad and maybe his daughter) and it was at prime lunchtime. I didn't realize the description online said the island and smokehouse burgers were on french bread so that was a surprise but not bad. Personally, we weren't the biggest fans of how the burgers were cooked, charred and well-done, but the toppings were great and my sister said the ketchup to mayo ratio on hers was perfect! The cheddar fries are Merkt's cheddar which I now know isn't my favorite but for those that like Merkt's, there is lots of it and covers all the fries. Thanks for lunch, Little Island :-)“

“Run over to this little spot on Bank Lane, a side street in the center of town, for a perfectly presented Chicago Style hot dog. Delicious! The seeded bun, the soft boiled dog, impeccably chosen toppings-- superb! I really loved the water canister-- a simply beautiful "thing" that delighted me! I saw a Not-So-Sloppy Joe coming out and I'm coming back for that! It's a friendly clean place. The owner said they've been around since 1963! Coming from a town in Ohio that has a famous place called The Hot Dog Shop, well, I'm not easy to please in this department-- but today I got WOWED! I'll be back for the homemade soups (the mom makes these I'm told) and today it is Wedding Soup and Tomato Soup. Lots of others good choices on the menu.“

“Let me point out one key detail to why the hotdogs are so good at u dog u. Take a really good look at the photos that I’ve posted. you see that end of that hotdog you see how it’s twisted you see how it overhangs the bun well those are all great signs. Have a wonderful delicious hotdog. Also, I would like to point out the toppings sauerkraut ,sport peppers. These are the two things that we really should have on every single Chicago style hotdog and the only ketchup you see insight is on them fries and let me say ,them fries were crispy delicious warm in the center just the way you expected crinkle cut fries to be. they have mastered the art of the Chicago style hotdog and the crinkle cut fry.Parking: It’s certain times of a day it might be a little difficult to get a prime spot so you might have to walk about 25 to 50 feet to the door but man is that walk worth it and you’re gonna need it once you leave because the food is so damn good!Wheelchair accessibility: All the tables are wheelchair height and all the chairs can be moved to accommodate anyone in a wheelchair“

“I went in the drive thru so I can't say anything about the atmosphere. What I can say is that Portillos always had good food; I get hot dogs w/ everything on them (no peppers) and cheese fries. The line moved pretty quick and the workers were friendly. I would go again“

“You know, this is a great location and the people who work there really try to be nice and friendly. However, they someone have to put up with a lot of people with horrible attitudes. I'm sure it wears them down. Takeaway? Be nice, people!“

“I went her just to grab a quick bite to eat. End up sitting here a hour. The customer service was amazing, I didn’t get the guy name with the shorty blonde hair but he made the stay even better. The food was delicious with a gracious amount and the price wasn’t bad at all. Fairly clean as well. Will be visiting again soon“

“Chicago style food is probably the one type of grub that never ever gets old on me and I'm constantly in the mood for it.I know for some folks out there that as soon as they see the big V logo sign for Vienna Beef or the Red Hot Chicago that it's "meh, just another Chicago style grill and they're all the same."This past January on a rainy Friday night, my family & I were in the area gettin' out of Lake Bluff and I was in the mood for a good gyros sandwich. My wife loves gyros as well and I figured we've never been here before so why not. I'm actually glad I stopped in being I loved the taste of the gyros, the Chicago dog and the world class fresh cut fries.Max"s is a gem in Libertyville and the local residents should be happy to have it. I can only imagine this place gets swarmed during lunch hours in the middle of the work week with contractors, car dealership employees and oodles of takeout orders. With a competitor such as Portillo's which is extremely popular in the city and suburbs which I've had my fair share of, I'd rather eat here. Not aware of any Portillo's location at least not in Lake County that serves gyros or fresh cut fries. That's something that the owner(s) of Max's can be proud of and I'm always happy to support local. I'm getting that craving just by typing this, can't wait to head back to Max's Dawg House.Small but clean dining area with friendly service servin' up awesome Chicago eats at fair prices. Hope this place stays open for decades to come!“

“The moment I walked I walked in I could tell the vibe and atmosphere was positive and very friendly. This is the cleanest establishment that I’ve have ever step foot in. The employees recognized me greeted me made sure I got everything that I needed and with a smile on their faces. I ordered very quickly. The food was prepared quickly the fries and milkshake were amazing like they always are and the bacon cheeseburger was amazing. I definitely recommend you try it if you haven’t.Parking: There are literally hundreds of parking spots available. You have nothing to worry about when it comes to parking.Kid-friendliness: This is an extremely kid friendly place they provide you with as many free peanuts as you want so the children can play you know throw peanuts at each play games with the peanuts and just have overall good childhood fun and that is something that is unique to Five Guys.“

“Family-owned, old school Chicago lunch spot. Don't be fooled by the location in a strip mall. The owners take your order on a pad of paper and ring you up on a 1990s cash register. Menu is everything you'd expect from a Chicago burger/dog/italian beef spot. Greasy and delicious. If you're in the mood, this place hits the spot. A shame they are only open for lunch!“

“Ask yourself something: should you trust reviews from people who put ketchup on a hot dog? I thought not.Irving's is an institution. It's an unpretentious spot in an overly pretentious town. There literally isn't a bad choice on the menu. If you're undecided, the cheesesteak is excellent.“

“I had the 2 hot dog meal. The dogs were great! I gave 4 star on the food only because the fries weren’t all that good for me personally but overall I love the atmosphere & the service was very fast. I’ll come back & try other options on the menu for sure!“

“I've enjoyed Dear Franks a number of times over the years, but I don't go as often as other similar restaurants in the area that are a little bit closer or more convenient for me. That said, I've never had a bad meal here, and I'm finally able to explore their menu a little more (I'm in Deerfield more often this season).Their Chicago-style hot dogs are very good, their gyros are excellent, I enjoyed their burgers & sandwiches, and I'm a big fan of their banana milkshake. They weren't my favorite fries originally, but they've improved a ton recently (consistently crispier and not overly salted). I can pretty much always count on a quality lunch every time I hit Dear Franks.Their parking lot is behind the store, which easily accessible from Northbound Waukegan at either the entrance with the US Bank sign (the lots connect to the south) or the entrance near the American Legion (across from the Town Hall entrance) which has a turn lane for Southbound Waukegan traffic. It can get a little crowded at lunchtime, but they seem to manage the lunch rush fast enough. After a little league game or event at the High School, though, you might want to go somewhere else unless you don't mind waiting a bit. They're fast, but sometimes there's a line out the door after games. It's a small place, so you might have to grab your food to go (I love getting food at Dear Franks and then eating at Jewett Park's picnic area or a little further west at Maplewood Park). My personal favorites are their burgers (my partner LOVES their mushroom swiss burger), the teriyaki vegetable stir fry on a pita, and their grilled chicken on a pita with either teriyaki or tzatziki sauce. Their breaded fried mushrooms are my partner and my favorite mushrooms in the neighborhood (even better than Bill's Pizza). Great stuff!“
