“Smitty's ale house is at the location of the old stores, the spirits bar not the strip club. They really did not change much from the outside. The new owners updated the bathrooms, looks like they expanded the kitchen and removed the dj booth. All probably good moves, based off of the history. The aaa staff was nice and engaging. The crowd for a bears Sunday was a lot lighter than the places previously iteration . That may be due to the bears sucking this year though. There was also less staff but enough for the limited crowd. For an ale works they had pretty standard beers on tap. Looked like only one rotating tap out of the 10 on the taps. Not a very deep option for beer needs. I do think any bar named Smitty's should have guineas on tap . I had the steak quesadillas. They were solid bar food. Overall thisplace is worth the stop but needs a bit more to stand out.“

“I'm a sucker for Heritage's Happy Hour Oyster for a while so had to circle back for the restaurant week. The whole experience was giving East meets West as it covers a good range of dishes/inspired cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised with how each courses was planned out, with very balanced flavor combinations, leaving me full but not uncomfortably stuffed. My favorite we're definitely the tuna crudo, braised beef and fiancier, hopefully that make the official menu one day. Overall great experience and the downstairs speakeasy space makes it so fun to eat and catch up.“

Ordered Fois gras too which had a bust of flavours in mouth and a must try. Got Ribeye for the mains and ofcourse had to get the burger. With just two ingredients this burger definitely is a front runner up for Chicago best burger. Lastly ended our dinner with dessert which met and matched the food expectations as other food.“

“It was cool. Met some friends on St. Paddy's Day for a happy hour drink. My beer was $6, and her ranch water was $9 (not sure what the happy hour special was), but it was a one and done with no issues. It's super dark inside even on a bright day, so if you are a day drinker, this might be your vibe. Not so much for me.“

“This place was super cute. We came on a Wednesday without reservation and got seated right away. Happy surprise, Wednesday was smash burger night! The hospitality was great all around and they had a really fun drink menu! If you like old fashions, try their old fashioned pancake. They did run out of a few things on the menu so we’ll have to go back to try those items. There was a bit of a wait time between courses but the food was really good!“

“The pretzel was very good! Light and fluffy on the inside. The brisket taccos were pretty good they have a decent kick of spice to them. Beer is good, staff is friendly. A 1 star deduction for getting my fiancé her flight but then forgetting my pint, and no napkins or silverware when the food was brought out. (This is a bit arguable as we were at the bar.)“

“The coolest bar in Rogers Park! They have a small but fun cocktail selection, great beer & cider selection, super super friendly staff and the best vibes. They have no food but you are allowed to bring any takeout you want or you can directly order to your table from any restaurant you want. Such chill vibes honestly. We were here as a huge group last week for our friends birthday party (about 40 of us) and our waiter has been a saint with taking sssoooo many orders and hand delivering them to the correct person, and with the most fun attitude too! “Man I love this place. The pinball is well maintained. Great rotating selection of games. Classic and modern (pretty much just Stern in the modern camp). The beer selection is always great. Love the ability to get food and it is freaking rad. If I had one critique it’s the hours. I preferred the pre Covid hours. I get it it’s got to be tough these days to open earlier during the week. I’ll only wish for those early happy hour days to come back and won’t hold it against them.Vegetarian options: The food menu is killer. Lots of great vegetarian options.Parking: City of Chicago Street parking. Never had an issue getting a spot within a block or two.“

“An absolute gem.I reserved the back lounge room for my birthday and it was the best decision ever! It was easy to communicate via their Instagram, and the room was reserved and ready to go. They even let me bring a cake and hire a caricature artist to come! We played bingo, had delicious cocktails, and admired the decor and items for sale (I now own a rainbow pin striped shirt!). I would HIGHLY highly recommend this place for a birthday, an event, or just to swing by for drinks!My highlight of the night Mark and Jana who smiled the whole night, made us delicious cocktails, and made our group feel at home. The three cheese Gnocchi was fantastic with a delectable tangy sauce. The Burrata for appetizer was very fresh and succulent. Our son had grilled chicken. He said it was delicious and sumptuous. Overall a great experience.Vegetarian options: A decent selection of vegetarian. The portions are a bit smaller but for good enough if not sharing.“

My Bosnian partner looked up a couple of places and I'm so glad we found this one.The cevapi was perfectly spiced on the soft warm pita. That was the best Bosnian coffee I've had too! The Burek was so fresh, it took about 20-30 to make but was so worth it.It's a quiet, humble restaurant with a mom n pop duo making the food!
