Least expensive hot dog ....anywhere, period. All dogs come with fries. They make it up on volume. Always a line, but plenty of staff works in a conveyor belt style. And you better best know how to order when you go there. For example, know how to order "one hot dog with everything including peppers".... here's the correct way "one with." Better know what you are ordering when you reach front of line or expect a look of irritation and perhaps even some cajoling "C'mon now, let's go" from your hot dog builder if you are vascillating or unprepared to order depending on mood and current busyness of the place . It's the experience. I lived there less than a mile from the place for the first 40 years of my life (except when I attended Northwestern Univ. and lived on campus in Evanston). Then, I lived in MN for 20 and now FL in retirement, BUT will take trips to Gene & Judes when visiting relatives for Thanksgivings, Christmases, Weddings and Funerals, etc. The taste is worth the trip into River Grove from the Northwest suburbs during my stays with friends and family living g far NW or far W suburbs.“

For SLIGHTLY more than the cost of fast food you could eat a real burger and fries. It’s not gonna be a fancy “artisan” burger or hot dog. You pay a cheap price for food that was made with classic Chicago charm and no pretentious intent. I mean like a real homemade burger with grilled onion, cheese, and two well-seasoned burger patties. 9.3. The burger came out hot n fresh plus the cheese melted making this a messy, gooey, rich burger. “This is a no nonsense Chicago spot. The signage was probably put up when my grandpa was a kid walking down Taylor street flipping a quarter. Anyway, the combo sandwich was excellent. “I loved Duks, but the renovation and refresh may put Modern Relish in the conversation for best looking hot dog stand in Chicago. Modern Relish is now sporting a modern and clean look and has added massive dog friendly patios. The food was fast and did not disappoint and the staff was incredibly nice. The new owner was there when we grabbed lunch and clearly working hard. I'm incredibly excited to see this transformation and would encourage everyone to check it out!“

“Great dessert shop! It's certainly pricey but the chew of the pastry and wide variety of alternating flavors are a nice treat on occasion. Maybe some flavors may not be as good as other flavors but I think that's subjective. Overall, they're tasty treats. Recently, they introduced their version of the viral Korean egg sandwiches. The bread was buttery and fried. Egg was fluffy. Really good. Their jasmine milk tea was fragrant and nice. Staff are always nice. Decent amount of seating for small groups.“

“I am a very huge fan of smaller scale restaurants that can be found hiding in the city. Family-owned businesses are typically the ones that have the best food because they do not necessarily look into mainstreaming menus and recipes. with smaller restaurants, you can typically find amazing price opportunities as well as some unique food that has not been released to the broad market. It almost makes locations like this become a treasure if you come across them. Huge shout-out for Lola's. Amazing dogs, burgers, shakes! give them a try when you get the chance. For me, it was worth every penny!“

“My Wife and I were blown away at how tasty the food was. Everything was very flavorful and well seasoned. And the prices were great for the portion sizes which were generous. My Fire Burger especially was a good full sized burger. And best of all everything was halal.Everyone working here was very polite and accommodating. They let us go into the back to wash our hands before we ate.The inside seating is very limited since this is a very small place. They did have an outside seating area so in the summer time there is more seating. They had an extensive menu including delicious Mexican food.“

“Stopped here for a late night bite. I got a single cheeseburger with everything on it and my boyfriend got the Big Daddy Burger. My burger was good, but nothing special. The big daddy burger was given a 10/10 and I personally tried the gyro meet and it was pretty tasty. We shared an order of fries and they were super crispy.“

“I've driven past this place so many times and I finally decided to try it out. Only carry-out and delivery right now with the pandemic. I ordered 2 Big Island Classic burgers, 1 smokehouse burger, and another basic burger with one small cheese fry. It took 25-30min for preparation. This seems to be a 2 man operation (dad and maybe his daughter) and it was at prime lunchtime. I didn't realize the description online said the island and smokehouse burgers were on french bread so that was a surprise but not bad. Personally, we weren't the biggest fans of how the burgers were cooked, charred and well-done, but the toppings were great and my sister said the ketchup to mayo ratio on hers was perfect! The cheddar fries are Merkt's cheddar which I now know isn't my favorite but for those that like Merkt's, there is lots of it and covers all the fries. Thanks for lunch, Little Island :-)“
