“Checkin was a bit weird. Although the restaurant was pretty empty, it took so much time for someone to check us in that we almost left. But from here on out, it was a pleasant experience- our waitress was great and food delicious. The ambience and the music transported me to southern states. The cheddar biscuits they served were so warm, soft inside and has a hint of cheddar- we could not stop eating them.We ordered 2 shrimps, fish and chips. Butter garlic shrimp, fish and chips tasted fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place for your seafood fix.“

“We reserved Cindy’s in advance. Showed up 8 minutes before reservation and were told we couldn’t be seated despite restaurant was empty. In the reservation, it was stated that we were celebrating my friend’s birthday yet no mention was ever made of this during our experience. Additionally, since it was a celebration we requested a table with a view but (despite restaurant being empty) we were seated by the bar which is farthest from the view. The service was good. The crab roll sandwich was tasty but not worthy of $28. My friend loved the protein bowl. It’s a beautiful location but I was disappointed with the lack of acknowledgement to our special event as well as the late seating in a less-desirable location despite being empty and reserving in advance.“

“This has got to be the best steak we have ever had. My husband wanted oysters and steak. Staff super conscientious and knowledgeable, chefs own salt rub was divine. Highly recommend !“

“Shaw's is a Chicago institution for excellent reasons - the oysters are the freshest in town, the New England Chowder is the best in town, it has a nice selection of sushi, and a good wine list - to name a few. It's the perfect place for a date or group celebration or a business dinner. There is always a mix of families, couples, business people. The service is consistently top notch. The atmosphere is old school with dark wood and white linen table cloths but not at all stuffy - it's comfortable and inviting and while there is always a buzz, you can easily converse at your table. One caution: if you tend to be chilly, bring a sweater or jacket - the main restaurant tends to be cold temperature wise.“

“First off, the vibes here are immaculate. The restaurant is located on the second floor of Soho House, and the ambiance is very intimate--perfect for a smaller party. The menu is pretty straightforward. There aren't a lot of options to choose from, but each item is very unique. What we ordered: Caliente en los Trópicos: pretty yummy! Supposed to be spicy, but the spice is not overbearing at all. An interesting cocktail. Ceviche: a great way to start the dinner. Very shareable; love the balance of sour and savory flavors. Tuna Tostada: my favorite! I've never had a tuna tostada before, and it's nothing like what I expected. Mussels: you cannot go wrong with the mussels. The bread goes so well with this. Considering the dishes seem so original and the quick service, I'd definitely recommend this spot to my friends.“

“We have wanted to try Lena Brava for a while, and I'm really happy we did! Everything we ordered was fantastic. For starters, I was impressed with the skinny margarita. It's maybe the best I've had. Our server was attentive and friendly with great suggestions. We ordered the fish, the guac, salmon, and a steak dish-all were great. We'll be back!“

“I'm a sucker for Heritage's Happy Hour Oyster for a while so had to circle back for the restaurant week. The whole experience was giving East meets West as it covers a good range of dishes/inspired cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised with how each courses was planned out, with very balanced flavor combinations, leaving me full but not uncomfortably stuffed. My favorite we're definitely the tuna crudo, braised beef and fiancier, hopefully that make the official menu one day. Overall great experience and the downstairs speakeasy space makes it so fun to eat and catch up.“

“The food and staff were amazing! Such a friendly staff who were extremely welcoming and attentive. I have never ordered ‘seconds’ at a restaurant until today! The tostadas were out of this world and the shrimp taco was delicious. A must try!“

“Stopped in for dinner and beers with colleagues. Then sat in the bar area. We started with burrata and side dishes. Both were very delicious. I loved the pita bread and hummus on the appetizer plate. I will definitely get it again. Round two, we had fried chicken, croquettes and pizza. The chicken is super delicious. It was fried very well and the sweet sauce was great. I liked the pizza, although it was closer to flatbread because the crust was very flat and thin. Nice beer list. The cocktail list could be more impressive. Service is very friendly and attentive. Five stars!“

“Few months late! Came to Penumbra for Valentine’s Day and it was such a great choice. Ambiance set was really intimate, requested the private curtain area ahead of time and it felt like we were on our own place. Felt like a family owned place. The food and service were equally as good and on our way out an employee handed us a small rose shaped soap and thanked us for dining in. We had the bocaditos quesadilla which was the best version of a quesadilla we’ve had, shadow shrimp, a flat iron steak, and surf and turf. We ate/loved everything.“

“My husband and I really enjoy great service and paired with good food; it is worth our time and money. Even though our visit was on the spur of the moment, we were able to get a great table. We arrived about 30 min to an hour before the restaurant became full. We were treated the same as those who had prior reservations and we were not rushed. The service/sever was great. Alex was very familiar with the menu, providing excellent descriptions of specials . Alex was attentive, checking to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Alex was also kind and friendly. Our meal (roasted chicken) was delicious. The chicken was cooked to perfection….very tender. If we could change one thing (minor) would be the lemon and caper jus. Flavor/taste was good, but it was just a little too much for us….the mash potatoes (which were tasty) disappeared into the jus. Loved the kale…very tender. Now, for the dessert(s); we are not sure how often the dessert menu changes, but the dessert menu on Saturday, April 12, 2024, presented a hard choice. Saving calories, we opted to share….we chose the Pound Cake filled with warm banana pudding, and drizzled with a rum sauce. This dessert was “De-Lish”, and worth every calorie. The pound cake was moist with a nice texture and the banana pudding was warm and full of flavor. Also, the sauce was so delicious, we tried to get every drop off the plate.?Again, we would recommend Chicago Firehouse!“

“In a town that has it all, The Patio stands out for its great staff, amazing atmosphere, and flavorful fare! It really started with the staff. From the time we walked in the door the staff was amazing!! Our waiter Dante was absolutely phenomenal. He didn’t rush us, gathered our drink order, and checked in at just the right times to allow us to make the most of our experience. We started with the French onion soup and Caesar salad. Both were delicious. The Caesar had a bit of its own flare with a soft boiled egg and fresh grated cheese. Next we had the tuna tartare. Fresh tuna coupled with wontons, sesame, and just the right amount of sauce. Our dinner entrees finished off a great date night in the big city. The filet was cooked perfectly and the lobster Mac and cheese had large bits of lobster and a crisp crumble atop a bed of melted cheeses! We can’t recommend the Patio enough! Overall a wonderful night we won’t forget anytime soon!!“

“In town for business, went to The Capital Grille for a steak dinner. It was, oh, so much more! Ordered a cesar salad, new York steak, bone out. And the asparagus. The Cesar salad was delicious, with generous portions of shaved parmesean cheese. My steak ordered as medium rare, was absolutely perfect. The asparagus grilled with lemon wedge was a perfect complement. The dinner was perfect! I also ordered a Merlot wine by the glass, which was recommended by Blake, my server, who was excellent! She was so attentive and friendly! Almost all the wait staff stopped to ask if everything was okay and asked if I needed anything! The manager. Adam, also stopped and asked if everything was okay. The evening was perfect! I only wish my visit to Chicago was a more personal, elegant visit because this is where I would want to be! As if to show the elegance, I thought about having black napkins for guests wearing black. And then the manager, Adam, walked by with black napkins! Elegance is an exceptional quality. This should be a MUST for visitors who visit Chicago!“
“My father introduced my family to Hagen’s 50 years ago. He would go fishing on Lake Michigan and bring his fish here to have it smoked. Hagen’s was a staple at our house during Lent. So nostalgic for my family and I. No one else compares to their fried shrimp and homemade cocktail sauce. Just stopped in today to get some. Was met with great service and given the same great quality of shrimp as always.“

“Every dish was delicious. My favorites were the hanger steak and potatoes bravas. Gluten free dishes were done well for our coworker with Celiacs. Friendly and helpful service. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and knew how to pace our dishes. Ambience was dark and intimate but very lively with the buzz of conversation. They also were able to accommodate our large group of 10 on a week day evening.“

“Cafe Nova is a MUST try. Get the curry plate so you can taste as many things as possible! The parotta is crisp, flaky, filling, and perfectly toasted. The flavors of everything (lassi, samosa, curries)are complex, fresh, and fragrant. And the masala fries are addicting!!The restaurant is spacious and clean, the atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, the staff are incredibly friendly, and we were even offered tea on the house! Great value for the price too. I would absolutely come back the next time I’m in Chicago.Vegetarian options: Option to make most things vegan“

“We come here frequently and I still don't think we eat here enough. Let's just say...their crab cakes and scallops are better than most of the places that “specialize” in those things. Their bookbinder soup, I eat at least one bowl every time I go and yesterday I had two of them. We love the management and staff...they are friendly, personable and who doesn't like being remembered as a frequent patron? Their management goes from table to table and makes you feel like you're eating in their home dining area. We have family events here and have brought friends with us. Probably one of the consistently phenomenal dining my wife and I have. I'd even go there to eat even if not gambling. It's that good. Don't take my word for it, see it for yourself.“

“Located in Chicago's lively Lincoln Park, this spot is a top-tier destination for shrimp tacos – and it absolutely lives up to the hype! Hands down, the best I've ever had. The shrimp and breading reach perfection, making every bite a joy. Their $4 happy hour is a game-changer, featuring signature Baja fish and veggie tacos, along with $8 margaritas. Don't miss their quesabirria tacos – three short rib and cheese crispy tacos with a side of consommé beef broth for dipping. It's a flavor explosion that's hard to beat. Taco enthusiasts, this gem is a must-try!“

“We always ask for Giovanni to be our server, but we were told that he's on vacation in Peru (good for him!). Stephanie was our server and she was AMAZING! Giovanni had put notes in the computer system on what we like and Stephanie relayed that to us. We were so impressed!! My husband and I are both in the service industry (he's a server at Sophia Steak in Wilmette and I'm a hairstylist). We appreciate all that you guys do for us! Thank you, Stephanie, and the rest of the staff for a great experience!“

“We were a group of 8 to celebrate a big birthday. Our server, Carmen, was super good about checking on the timing of ordering the various courses. We were not rushed and the swank space contributed to making the meal very special. The lobster risotto is divine, definitely shareable after appetizers and the generous salads included with each entree. Other diners enjoyed the duck special, the whitefish, and a really good rib eye. Nice for a special occasion or any time you want to have a great meal.“
