“My Fraternity Brother Anthony Williams and partner Byron Diggs when not bringing great joy as a part of the Our Lady of Our Lady of Africa Parish, Chicago Eucharistic Ensemble have a great Cafe in Maywood right off of I 290. It is called Meal of the Day and has some great southern cuisine in an establishment on the 4th floor of a business complex overlooking I 290. It is appointed with some great art from notable black artists . There is also a banner from Hales Franciscan Class of 1979 , not sure what that’ s all about .. lol! They also do on site catering and have fed the masses after masses at their home church . Check them out ! My fraternity brother has been telling me for years to make the drive and wifey and I finally did and it was so worth it ! .“

“Pumpkin's Place is in the heart of Maywood. The atmosphere is what is expected of a carry-out neighborhood "joint". However, the food is great! The Turkey Tips, Rib Tips and chicken wings are so quite delicious. The meat is seasoned well, then the amazing BBQ sauce makes this one of the best places for BBQ. I've never tried the sides because they don't look appetizing, but I did have the cobbler once. Surprisingly it was good. I say that because restaurant cobbler is usually unremarkable. The only downside is that it closes at 5 p.m. and the tips are usually sold out early. The great thing is it's open on Sundays so I can get my meats right after church.“

Our waitress taylor was incredible and the manager (so sorry but we never got his name because he was just being so nice to us) was incredible as well. “i am so grateful for such a wonderful evening at lula cafe! i went with a friend last night and the service, the food, and the atmosphere truly were all five stars. the staff were just so lovely, it felt as if i'd been coming for years and was a cherished regular. we started with the baked feta and it actually came with more than enough delicious sourdough to enjoy it with. you ever notice how a lot of places will give you something delicious to dip, but you run out of something to eat it with? haha clearly lula cafe wants you to just eat and have fun - they take care of the rest. my main was delicious and the ricotta ice cream with chocolate and cherries? i could have eaten a litre. thanks again!!“

Menu is full of unique dishes… elevated dumpling and noodles are a signature. Beautifully plated and generous- but not overly. Cocktail menu is fun, with zero proof options that are spot on. Save room for baked Alaska. Oh, and ambiance is chic but allows the focus to be where it belongs. On the food. Upscale West Loop experience in modest Portage Park for a lot less and no pretense.“

“First off, the service was excellent. Michael did an amazing job. He knew the menu from front to back. He spoke loud enough so everyone at the table could here him even in a noisy, crowded restaurant. He deserves a big shout out! The food came out quickly and was presented in a very nice manner, congrats to the food runners. The food was absolutely delicious, congrats to the kitchen staff. Over all it was a great Mothers Day choice and we will certainly be back and not just for a special occasion.“

“We made a reservation, arrived on time, were told our table would not be ready for 15 min. There is no where to wait at the restaurant (no room at the bar and we had someone under 21 with us and there is no place else to wait where you are not in the way. We chose to wait outside. Why bother making reservation if the table is not ready? There were several open tables, too and upon return 15 min later those same tables were open! It's just very frustrating and this is the second time something like this has happened. If it happens again I am not so sure I will be as open to returning.“

She was mad because the customers were done eating but hadn't gotten up from the table! Complaining about she's tired and ready to go home. I thought it was unprofessional! And!!!!! She didn't even get our order correct. I enjoy the restaurant, but I definitely don't want her to serve me anymore!“

“Everything about Topaz was delightful when we celebrated our friend's birthday there. The cocktails were great and the wine list always has old favorites as well as new things to try. The Hummus and Focaccia were excellent starters. Sliders, Steak Frites, and Whitefish were all delicious. Flourless chocolate cake and cappuccino topped off the celebration. We even tried a new dish that consisted of delicious link style sausage with pita and a red pepper sauce that will definitely become a go to appetizer for us. Absolutely could not be better. “Parsons is my absolute favorite place to go in the summer to sit outside with the dog, have some great frozen drinks and some yummy food. Sitting outside is like a huge barbecue, the awkward family reunion type. Super chill vibe, lots of people just having a good time and enjoying the sun. The fried chicken sandwich, fish sandwich, and hush puppies are amazing. If you have better restraint than I do and can eat your food slowly like a normal human being, he won’t leave feeling like you need a nap. Highly recommend the hush puppies she just wishes he could sit on the bench and drool closer to us“

“Located in the Rose Hotel, same proximity as Dave and Buster’s and Trulucks. If the parking is full, just park in the huge parking lot across the street by Dave and Buster’s. When you walk into the hotel, the Thorn restaurant is to your right. The vibe is semi classy and intimate. It can also be a casual place to hang out, eat, and watch tv. Service was fantastic, they really take care of you over here. Prices are reasonable given the atmosphere. I had shrimp tacos, hemp hummus, and the Westcoast smasher burger. Pro tip: when you check in on Yelp, you get the hemp hummus for free. It was big enough to share with two other people.-shrimp tacos 5 - these are good sized tacos. Easily shareable. The shrimp pieces were fresh and juicy. Shells were soft. Avocado pieces were large chunks. The corn tortilla chips were crunchy and did not break easily.-hemp hummus 5 - fresh ingredients and warm naan. Very light appetizer.-Westcoast smasher 5 - ordered it medium and it came out perfect. It’s a very clean burger. Your hands don’t get oily or greasy. Meat practically melts in every bite. Special sauce amplifies the flavor. French fries were crispy and they’re on the thinner side. Well seasoned.“

Katherine and I collectively have been to Vistro (Prime) a few times . . . and the food, craft cocktails, and atmosphere make for an excellent social and culinary experience. It was wonderful to see Patrick doing the Mixology while the other restaurant is in process of opening apparently this spring.This time around, Katherine and I stopped by for a craft cocktail, and we ended up enjoying the happy hour oysters that were very good.I have never offered a single suggested critique of Vie or Vistro.The only request I have is for the manager of Vistro Prime is to check the barstools at the bar.My barstool was wobbly, and it likely/ simply needs to be tightened up. I’m a handy person and have constructed and repaired barstools; so possibly, the hardware for some of your barstools needs to be tightened up and or repaired.They are beautiful barstools!Other than that, I completely recommend Vistro Prime to every and anyone that receives this review and all my friends and family as always!“

“Local bar that we walked to to get a few drinks on st Patrick's day. The specials were nice but we ended up getting some Guinness and car bombs. I got to try malort for the first time (not really a fan) prices were fine. The bartender was friendly and attentive. Wasn't too crowded. Had video poker inside which is something I'm not used to due to not being from the Midwest. I'd swing by and get some drinks here again“

“Elm restaurant in LaGrange is an upscale "to be seen " restaurant and cocktail lounge. You can dine on the ground level or the upper level, which offers a covered outside environment. The food is exceptional, as is the service and modern decor. They have a partially viewable kitchen in which I observed no less than 11 people working the cook line. I also saw an upstairs and downstairs casual seating conversation area, which was quite unique. A stairway or elevator access is available to the second floor for outdoor dining and banquet room. The menu offers full size entrees, which are very generous or small plates. Best to make reservations.“

The Unnecessary- I did notice the "supplemental fee" for credit card usage. Those fees are just silly because that is the cost of doing business that should be factored into a business budget. We know you're paying to accept credit cards - negotiate with your CC companies instead of adding "fees" to your bills and surprising customers.“

“I love Madison’s! Once I entered the restaurant, I immediately felt at home - people, food, atmosphere and everything is so well thought and curated! I love the dishes I ordered! Fish tacos are great and the steak bites are our favorite! Out of this world tender juicy with sauces and condiments that complete all dishes perfectly.
