And you better best know how to order when you go there. For example, know how to order "one hot dog with everything including peppers".... here's the correct way "one with." Better know what you are ordering when you reach front of line or expect a look of irritation and perhaps even some cajoling "C'mon now, let's go" from your hot dog builder if you are vascillating or unprepared to order depending on mood and current busyness of the place . It's the experience. I lived there less than a mile from the place for the first 40 years of my life (except when I attended Northwestern Univ. and lived on campus in Evanston). Then, I lived in MN for 20 and now FL in retirement, BUT will take trips to Gene & Judes when visiting relatives for Thanksgivings, Christmases, Weddings and Funerals, etc. The taste is worth the trip into River Grove from the Northwest suburbs during my stays with friends and family living g far NW or far W suburbs.“

“I loved Duks, but the renovation and refresh may put Modern Relish in the conversation for best looking hot dog stand in Chicago. Modern Relish is now sporting a modern and clean look and has added massive dog friendly patios. The food was fast and did not disappoint and the staff was incredibly nice. My Fire Burger especially was a good full sized burger. And best of all everything was halal.Everyone working here was very polite and accommodating. They let us go into the back to wash our hands before we ate.The inside seating is very limited since this is a very small place. They did have an outside seating area so in the summer time there is more seating. They had an extensive menu including delicious Mexican food.“

“Very good food and nice atmosphere“

“I've driven past this place so many times and I finally decided to try it out. Only carry-out and delivery right now with the pandemic. I ordered 2 Big Island Classic burgers, 1 smokehouse burger, and another basic burger with one small cheese fry. It took 25-30min for preparation. This seems to be a 2 man operation (dad and maybe his daughter) and it was at prime lunchtime. I didn't realize the description online said the island and smokehouse burgers were on french bread so that was a surprise but not bad. Personally, we weren't the biggest fans of how the burgers were cooked, charred and well-done, but the toppings were great and my sister said the ketchup to mayo ratio on hers was perfect! The cheddar fries are Merkt's cheddar which I now know isn't my favorite but for those that like Merkt's, there is lots of it and covers all the fries. Thanks for lunch, Little Island :-)“

I never know what to order but I usually get a beef and cheese. But their Chicago hot dogs are delicious too. Wash it down with a green river and you might not want to eat again for days.“
