“Decided to give this place a shot for the first time yesterday. (Recommend to me by a friend) Not only did it smell delicious when I walked through the door, but my food tasted just as delicious! The gentleman that prepared/rang up my order was very welcoming, polite, and just overall had a great energy about him. To sum it all up…I was certainly satisfied with my first experience here, I will most definitely return again, and I also recommend giving this place a try!“

“Overall, it's pretty good, but there are a few issues: 1) It calls itself Evansville's first taqueria, but that's a flat lie. El Paisano's was here for years (200 block of N. Green River Rd - now 300 block with the dedicated restaurant building). 2) The "Chicago Dog" isn't even close to being a "Chicago Dog" - by miles. I have a pet peeve about restaurants naming foods that aren't actually the foods they're serving and this is one of the most egregious I've seen. It may be a good dog, but it is flatly NOT a Chicago Dog. 3) The "dressed" burger is anemic, at best. The burger itself is not bad, but the stuff on it is . . . weak. I've seen better dressed burgers at McDonalds. 4) The staff *barely* understands English. I wouldn't care if they spoke only Spanish - it's not an America uber Alles thing. But if they're going to do business with Americans they should be at least minimally fluent (or maybe have a point-and-grunt board for common things). They're friendly enough, but L-rd, they're not capable of much at all in English. It's like day one in an ESL class in there (I know - I've taught them before). The chili nachos are amazing. I've tried the "Mexican Fries" which were a hot mess of slop but edible and different. I've had a very large quesadilla there that was good. I tried their "Mexican Hot Dog" (apparently "Mexican" means "smothered in mayonnaise" - both the fries and the hot dog were and that was about the only thing they had in common). I'm working my way through the menu, slowly, and the negatives definitely outweigh positives, but the place is far from perfect. Not being able to correctly spell "chili" was a little odd. At some point you'd think they'd just run their menu through Google Translate or something to spell check it.“

“The food was great. It was hot when served. American sized portions. Swear tea was great. Pepsi products available. The service was great as well. Never waited long on anything. Napkins go well when hitting the salsa but none on the table. The music is questionable. To each their own. I found the playlist to be annoying. Wasn't your normal Mexican music that was playing. Go try it out and get the table guacamole.“

“This is called Pozole Rojo. Pozole is a Traditional Mexican celebratory soup that mostly gets made during birthdays, holidays, ect. It was created by the ancient Aztecs in Mexico and has gotten better since. No more sacrificing to the Gods. The broth is the best part. Growing up in LA this was a special meal and you would get super excited to hear there was going to be Pozole at your friends place for thanksgiving. I decided to check out Nachos Grill on South Green River Road. (under new management). I haven’t been to that restaurant since it was still La Cabana. The outside needs cleaned and updated but the inside of the restaurant was new and very clean. Service was also great since I was the only one there. Lol. The Pozole was delicious… flavorful and how I had it back home in Los Angeles. I can image their tacos and tortas are just as good too. Super rich and delicious… great for hangovers. Pozole is a hominy stew. This particular one is pork butt or shoulder. Ancho chilly peppers are blended with garlic and lime and a whole bunch of spices and things. Base is chicken broth most of the time. Not spicy but you can always add more heat. Literally one of the greatest soups you’ll ever taste. I always squeeze a few lemons into my bowl. Then you have your side garnishes to put in the soup. Chopped onions, cilantro, sliced radish, pico de gallo, limes, avocado, chopped lettuce or cabbage. Most of the time you eat this with a tostada. You dip it… put all the fun things on the tostada shell then what ever falls into the soap you eat that too. You can also use grilled tortilla’s and tortilla chips. I make my own Pozole from home for holidays but sometimes you don’t wanna cook 6+ hours. Lol. I give their Pozole a 10/10. Also I prefer my salsa chunky as it should be… added pico de gallo to my salsa. Give them a try. -The Taco Snob“
