“I want to share my family's experience at Big Biscuit Olathe on Tuesday, 3/19/24.My dad has Alzheimer's, and we recently moved him into full time care in Olathe. It's been an adjustment.My sister was in town from Colorado, and we decided to check Dad out for a few hours for brunch. We never know how public experiences will go. Sometimes Dad responds well. Others he gets agitated or overwhelmed. Sometimes servers and other patrons don't know quite how to respond to him. We all just kind of wanted, for an hour or so, to pretend that everything was normal, that we were just another family going out for a meal.This is where Matt comes in. Matt was our server, and he literally made our entire day. I may just be getting old, but Matt looked about 17. He was thin as a rail. He had glasses and a mullet. I won't lie, when he first walked up, I kinda steeled myself. Sometimes younger folk don't have the life experience to deal with older folk. Particularly when the older folk tell you the same joke over and over again or get confused by your questions. But I needn't have worried.Matt started out by introducing himself and making friendly banter. He quickly picked up on the fact that we aren't the type of family to stand too firmly on strict propriety, and seemed to let his hair down a little bit more.Now, my mom typically orders for my dad, as he can get overwhelmed by the options. So, most servers just sort of ignore Dad and talk directly to Mom. Not Matt. He started jokingly asking my dad directly what he wanted, if he was okay, and to "blink twice" if he needed to be rescued. Dad's sense of humor is very intact and laughter has always been a coping mechanism for us. It worked beautifully.Throughout the meal, Matt was delightfully and teasingly irreverent, but never inappropriately so. It's three days later, and I'm still grinning at the memory.Thank you so much, Matt! You made that outing something we'll talk about for a long time. We needed that badly.“

“We attended a private event for approximately 50 guests at Austin's on Lone Elm this weekend. The taco bar was quite tasty, and stocked repeatedly for our group as needed. While the party was fun, it was ever more memorable due to our two servers, Mikaela and Jeremy. These two were so fun, exuberant and hard working professionals. Their constant smiles while keeping up with the drink orders with precision was fantastic! They were go getters from the start and made an already fun day even better. Great employees, good food, thank you Austin's Lone Elm for a great experience!“

“Our visit here was absolutely wonderful. The food took a little while to come out, but it was absolutely amazing. They were also understaffed, but our server Pati was very nice and worked very hard to accommodate for the many people in the restaurant. She was very nice and patient to all of us, and even took special orders that weren’t on the menu. It was also kind of quiet, but peaceful. Overall, our experience was great and I recommend to all!“

“By far best Pizza I had. Pitta with pesto is good to try. Apart from good food best service in town. Staff is very courteous and understand your requirements. All Pizzas are good, nicely done good cheese and surprisingly not chewy if it gets old and you eat little late. Five star for the staff. Manager Steve and Morgan who served us last was phenomenal.“

“I have been going to this restaurant for many years, making many new friend during this time, recently a situtation occured at this restaurant that really concerned me, I always tease with and get teased as well with the staff there and Its always been a lot of fun, I know of this one waitress that has worked there for a long time, when I come In a lot of times we will share a hug out of gratitude and friendship, we have known one another for years and supported her when she opened a restaurant in Ottawa, ks. anyway I came in one day recently and the hostess the daughter of this waitress I know quite well was laughing and made a comment saying you always hug my mom but never me, so I In a playful way gave her a hug and left thinking nothing more of this incounter, well a few days ago the wife of the owner sit down and said I need to speak with you about something, and went on to say I need to not be touching any employees In there establishment, I told her at this time about the earlier situtation and It was all In fun, apparently that hostess took it upon herself to only tell her part of the story here, so I want to say I would never want to hurt or embarrass anyone or do anything Inappropriate in any way to anyone at any time, this really hurt me and after so many years of support for this restaurant I have nothing negative to say about anyone here , thats not how I handle unpleasant situtations but I probably wont be going back and that saddens me !“

“This was my initial visit to this business. The menu offered a wide variety of bar food staples and a number of other which I had never before seen on a bar menu. My appetizer was breaded and fried mushrooms. Not only did they arrive piping hot, they were exquisitely prepared with with a consistently golden brown crust and delightful crispiness. The entree I chose was the Long Branch burger. This item was indeed a "mouthful". Stacked high on a bun with layers of obviously fresh and quality lettuce and tomatoes, my choice of cheese, onion and appropriate condiments (and drenched with unique house dressing), this baby was a culinary delight. The patti was was characterized by its thickness and enticing color and flavor, and it was cooked exactly to my request (medium well). Capped off with a cold draught beer, this meal left me well satisfied and content. The service I received from my waiter was really professional in every respect: attentive and helpful, but not pushy. The facility itself was massive, but well designed, clean and exude it's own relaxing ambiance. In summary, The Other Place really surprised me by offering bar food and relaxation, but with a little class and a level of overall quality I have rarely encountered in my bar experiences. To each his own, but The Other Place is absolutely a clear cut above its competition, and I highly recommend it to all.“

“The steak tacos was delish. Service for group parties was ok. They had difficulty keeping the food stocked for 60 people. Several times my people asked me while in line for food about things being empty and I would have to find a server to refill. The games and activities were fun!“

Food was a little disappointing, I guess they changed the fries over the last 10 years (not exactly unexpected), but the old fries had a great seasoning with some Parmesan cheese and the world's best honey mustard. Wasn't as good as it used to be. Burger was good but a little dry. Not often we can go back down memory lane but hopefully the next time will be better, and not so much time in between.“

“My daughter and I meet at The Bar Olathe every Wednesday night for dinner while my youngest is at her youth group at church. Tonight, we did something different. My daughter picked up her sister and brought her back to The Bar so we could listen to the karaoke singers. They also play "up and coming" music that my daughters know and will occasionally dance to. Its great fun!“

“First time at this place and I was pleasantly surprised... the hostess was nice. My waiter was awesome... food was good. Pan pizza Chicago 7 was really good, date had the chicken tender sandwich, she said it was good with the Garlic aoli.... she really enjoyed the pickles on the sandwich as well. Had a mule, it was decent, and the beer, which I can't remember the name, was good a well. Date had the orange cranberry cider, she enjoyed immensely. Great first date place.“
