For dessert we had the bread pudding and asked to have some bourbon to pour on top (so good!), the lava cake (wow) and the brûlée (coffee flavored and very nice). We were the last to leave and Jessica and the rest of the staff treated us if we had all the time in the world. We so appreciated that! Our experience was so special! Thank you!”

“More than I was expecting! As you walk in the doors you are greeted by one of the friendly staff. The showroom has everything a Mitchers fan could ask for: shirts, coasters, books, and of course many of their Bourbon selections. It was a 15-20 min wait to get up to the bar. The host was very polite. When it was my time, the elevator opened as she called me and she said “your chariot has arrived” made me smile. As I came off the elevator I was greeted by Georgia and she showed me my seat at the bar. A glass of water and an assortment of snacks was waiting. The snacks were small pretzel balls, dried bananas, and crunchy quicos. The crunchy quicos (corn nuts) are a must try(see sticker).The first drink I ordered was the Falls of the O-H-I-O Fizz. It was delicious! Frothy due to the egg white, with a little touch of sweet, and gentle burn from the bourbon. The second drink I ordered was the Fort Nelson Crusta. The presentation was beautiful. There’s a whole lot of sweet in this one. The sugar brim was the icing on the cake. Georgias service was outstanding, I can’t say enough. Her and her team are experts at their craft. The setting is very warm and down home. I highly recommend this place if you’re single or on a date. Georgia and her staff will make you feel at home. I’ll be back.”

The bread is also out of this world. The wine pairings also nicely complement the food, and the desserts are definitely worth having (especially the drunken banana cake). It is one of the nicest special occasion restaurants in Louisville. One caveat of interest to certain diners is the restaurants lax policy on pets. When we dined there, another table came in with a small dog. It wasn't a service or support dog because the diners kept passing it around the table, and even that table's server petted it. The dog's presence didn't bother us (it was well-behaved and quiet), but I could see some diners not enjoying dinner with a dog at the next table.”

Delightfully refreshing and tasty.We also ordered the bison empanadas. The meat was lean and well seasoned, carefully wrapped in the shell of the empanada so that you could take your time savoring each bite and wouldn't have to worry about the contents spilling. Any morsels of meat that did fall were fought over brutally by my wife and me. The empanadas were served with a side of extremely fresh Pico which I enjoyed scooping onto my fork along with the avocado-jalapeño puree and then shove into my gob with gusto. Highly recommend.My wife also ordered the Tuna Tartare. Even as someone who doesn't care much for raw fish dishes I could enjoy a few forkfuls of the dish. I especially enjoyed the crunch of the rice pearls as I chewed into the tartare.My favorite dish of the evening by far was the Frondosa farm mushroom enchiladas. Where to even begin. The bed of Spanish rice Perfectly fit into my fork as I surgically prepared each bite to ensure an equal blend of all the different flavors fit into the plate. What stood out the most to me was the chihuahua cheese. Not sourced from actual chihuahuas as I first thought, but named more for its light texture. The cheese was by far the highlight for me but anyone who has the pleasure of ordering the dish for themselves will find each part of the dish brings its own strengths.Finally foe dessert we ordered the traditional tres leches. The macadamia nut ice cream was a good pairing with the cake. The cake itself was good, decadent and moist garnished with assorted berries. I am used to a much wetter tres leches so this variant was a pleasant experience.”

The only difference between this and the other 2 locations is that they don't have a Mozza Pi pizza here. There is the Village Anchor and a bar called the Sea Hag next to the place. Not having a Mozza Pi was a kicker. This is a very beautiful place and it feels like home in a way. Will we be back? Most likely.”

Potato salad has boiled egg in it.I'm sure you could order a salad, baked potato and maybe a steamed vegetable. Check out their menu online ahead of time.Dietary restrictions: Ask for an allergen menu that lists gluten, dairy, wheat and other items. I ordered the rib & chicken combo with green beans and potato salad.The regular menu has an obscure notice box explaining the possibility of gluten cross-contamination. I have Celiac disease & asked the waitress about extra precautions. She said she'd ask the staff to change their gloves & all my items were listed as not containing gluten, wheat or dairy.When our food came out, my dinner was brought out separately, which was great. (There was no Texas toast on top of my plate either.) But, I got glutened anyway. It's hard to know what goes on in the kitchen. The lump crab came in a tiny metal ramekin and it was salty as well and wasn't lump at all..it was shredded. Presentation on a lump crab shouldn't be served this way in such a fancy restaurant. on a positive note...the manager was very professional and they took care of the whole bill plus gave us dessert. I just want to leave this as constructive criticism for them so hopefully they improve the quality and quantity of their food for people paying high dollar. Maybe the chef was overwhelmed or having a bad night not sure. The environment was nice...gorgeous view. Just think there's a lot of changes that should be made to get a higher rating.”

There was cream completely through the donut and plenty of it so I didn’t mind paying $2.50. It was like the donuts were made in years past. I purchased a their cream filled Long John today 10/13/23 and was very disappointed. The cream was shot in each end and not much of it and none in the middle. Just like all the other bakeries do to the cream filled Long John. So Jeff’s cream filled Long John doesn’t stand out from any other donut stores cream for long John. Although their donut is a little longer it’s not any better and definitely not worth $2.50. Very disappointed won’t be returning. I’ll stick with my local bakery which is a $1.00 cheaper on a cream filled Long John. Hopefully someone in charge will see this review and go back to making them full of cream like they initially did.”

They were made fresh and were all delicious and had unique flavors. We also had some of the dessert waffles and ice cream. Who thought sweet potato ice cream would be so good?”

“I used to live in West Africa and when this restaurant opened, I was right there and not disappointed. The first bite of acheke brought back a flood of memories of sitting at a roadside restaurant and eating fish with acheke in the haze and heat and the bustling city all around. The quality is excellent, the fish is a good size (watch for bones!), and you will be filled up. Everything is cooked to order so be patient as it takes time. My only complaint? It's a little expensive. With tax and tip, it's a shade over $30. But it's worth it. I only knocked it a star due to price. Everyone, try it at least once. West Africa has so many flavors of food and she knows how to make them!”

“Food is always excellent…a little pricey but the quality & larger portions are well worth the $. They have a covered outdoor dining area as well as spacious indoor seating. They sometimes have live music from local performers which provides an exciting atmosphere. My favorite Cuban Bar & Grill perfect for a night out with dinner, drinks, & fun!”
