“We are from the NY / CT area and vacationing in New Orleans. Tonight we decided to try Stella Maris as it was close to where we are staying. What an amazing treat! We were greeted by an incredibly gracious waitstaff. We followed her menu recommendations and we could not have been more pleased. The Stella Maris Special appetizer (baba ganuj, hummus, falafel, roasted eggplant, stuffed grape leaves, tabouleh), the lebanese spinach cheese roll, and the baklava were among the best that we have eaten … and we have tried middle eastern cuisine in many cities and states over many years. During our stay in New Orleans, we ate at several highly rated places in foodie articles … and Stella Maris ranks among the best meal that we had. Our only regret is our scarce opportunity to return to this place again. If you have an opportunity to dine here, do not let it pass by!”

“A True Hidden Gem ! I spent time there in 2014 while temporarily living in Arabi, although I'm sure not much has changed. The music is fabulous, and it's a hidden treasure of a dive pub.”

“I like this spot! They have marvelous food, their menu is nice, The cook in that restaurant is a real pro, I like a lot eating all their food. The dishes are always of high class, the attitude towards the clients is nice. I often go to this restaurant and I was never unhappy. I highly recommend it.”

“We love this restaurant! I had the crab and corn bisque, and she had the duck gumbo to start, and it was incredible. I then had the best duck, without question, I have ever had and she had the most amazing rizzoto you can imagine. Five stars is not enough to rate this restaurant. Also, if you go near lunchtime, try the oyster BLT, unbelievable!”

“Stopped by because I noticed a new sign out front. I had the shrimp tacos and the papusas. Both will have me returning regularly. The owner was there both cooking and serving and she was super kind.As for the beer, they serve in chilled glass steins, which is super rare nowadays! I'd stop in for drinks even if not hungry (although its worth taking something home)Definitely worth a stop if youre in the area or even in the bywater.”

“This place is great! I’ve been going here for years. Their food never gets old. Pizza Hut says that no one can put pizza the hut but in my opinion this place can. If I could I would eat their food every day.”

“Checked out SisterHearts for the first time today after driving by it 100 times. I was pleasantly surprised with some of the items I found. I left with a denim skirt that was $5 and some change. I really enjoy their mission and would rather support here than goodwill. They have A LOT of dishes, other housewares, luggage, gowns, and clothes. I wouldn't say there was much home wall decor though which I'm always on the hunt for. The prices are there with goodwill, however some items were definitely overpriced. As for the store itself, It is very cluttered as others have said. I also noticed a lot of the items were just piled on top of each other so it's very hard to dig through the items without throwing stuff around. There are also no fitting rooms but I was able to try stuff on in the bathroom but I'm not sure if that's a regular thing for customers. I think this shop has a lot of potential but they should consider a larger space / being more choosy with some of their inventory. I will definitely return because the staff was friendly and I like their mission.”

“5 for your employees. You yourself should be ashamed and not have only 1 person working the walkins and online orders. This seems like a corporate issue; guess I will take it to there. Fyi the reason you have lowering ratings. Stop thinking you can play the system and stuff your pockets.”

“Lunch and service from Rosie was very wonderful. The only thing that I did not like was a surcharge If you use a credit card ! it's not posted anywhere in the restaurant and I think that's disrespectful to their customers, beware!”

“The sandwich was not as fresh as it could be. The bun was a little soggy to me. The digital ordering process was good although it could be faster on it's response time. The overall look and feel is worn and outdated with even damage to the building that has been unrepaired for some time.”

“I forgot to finish my review and post it. My husband and I were in NOLA for the first time, we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, in August 2023. I have a gluten allergy and it was difficult to find authentic NOLA food that was gluten free. I am so glad I found Atchafalaya Restaurant!! The food was absolutely fantastic and they had several gluten free options! Our waitress was amazing. The restaurant was very cute inside and had a lot more seating than it looked like from the outside.”

“Bob Boudreau and I were in NOLA for 9 nights. Three of the nights we had reservations at other places with family. Our 1st night we looked up and found Jewel of the South. We loved it so much. we asked our nephew, his medical school advisor and his wife to join us. All three lived in NOLA and had never been here. All 5 of us would definitely go back in a heart beat. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great drinks. Great staff. GREAT ALL AROUND! FIVE STARS for Jewel of the South.”

“The food was so tasty, as always! Bosco had a very cheerful and cheeky personality that made ordering a fun moment. The service was wonderful; my water glass was never empty. The music was also so lovely and we came at a time where it wasn’t too crowded. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience!”

“Truly one of the best and most unique dining experiences I’ve ever had in my life. A wonderful tribute to Senegalese and Creole food. The staff was absolutely incredible — so friendly and knowledgeable. Explained Senegalese transitions and even started the meal with a table side hand wash. They weren’t stuffy either, which can be common at restaurants at this caliber. They really made our experience top notch, and the food was absolutely delicious. All locally sourced and in season ingredients. Will absolutely tell anyone visiting to go to Dakar.”

The facility is clean and the staff is so friendly. When traveling I’m always excited to locate a tasty vegan restaurant and this place is my spot when in New Orleans!
