“Bacchanal was recommended by our Lyft driver. We went the last night of Jazz Fest. Our driver was right it was fabulous. The place doesn't look like much when you pull up to the front, but what a surprise when you walk in. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is the perfect New Orleans style place with an amazing vibe. We ate upstairs after picking out a bottle of wine. We had the Gambas(Shrimp), the Patatas Fritas and the Pork Chop. All were wonderful, especially the Pork Chop. It was cooked/grilled to perfection. Maybe the best Pork Chop we have ever had at a restaurant. We were able to hear the band that was playing in the courtyard but it wasn't so loud that you couldn't carry on a conversation. And the prices are very reasonable. We will be back next time we are in New Orleans.“

“All of my senses were OVERWHELMED with pleasure at Criollo's Jazz Brunch! The service and food was superb Michelin level quality. The live jazz band kept me entertained as I was coursed out. The chef elevated the fried green tomatoes and chicken biscuit to an award winning level. The chicken biscuit was smothered in jalapeño's, scallions and the best rue I have ever tasted so I sent my compliments to the chef. Every delectable bite forced my eyes shut so I could deeply enjoy the freshness, flavor and texture. While I was enjoying coffee the chef sent complimentary Rosemary & Lemon Custard Madeline's. It was an innovative way to approach this classic pastry. My only critique is the custard on top was so good I wanted more. Very light, fresh, and balanced melody of flavors. The consistency was reminiscent of a fusion between a scone and puff pastry. You can tell the French invited fries by how well the fries here complimented every dish. It was such a phenomenal experience, I found myself making reservations for the next day halfway through brunch and I am happy to say the food, service and entertainment are consistently great here. The fancy French atmosphere at Hotel Monteleone was fit for a Queen and the bathroom attendant cleaned the stall prior to each guests use. This is a must try spot in The French Quarter.“

THE TELL ME BAR Wine Bar • $$
1235 St Thomas St, New Orleans

“Have been here a few times. Despite being really close to the expressway, it's fairly quiet and they've put a lot of work into creating a sleek and posh vibe inside the bar. The wine list is extensive--perhaps one of the best in the city. They offer a decent list of wines by the glass daily. I haven't been there for any of the happy hour deals or food pop-ups yet. Hopefully someday. As someone who grew up around Northern California wine country and has lived in other countries that produce world-class wines (France, Hungary), it's great to see so many types of wine in one place. However, I've found the service average at best--not particularly welcoming--which is odd in New Orleans. There is just a smidge of condescension, which doesn't bother me, but I do sense it. I guess this is why people who like wine sometimes get labeled wine snobs. The bathroom area is really cute, and I heard some pretty good minimalist type electronic music being spun by a DJ one night. It would also be great if they featured some Hungarian wine, which is very well-known in Europe (in fact, there is a natural wine phenomenon going on there currently) but very slept on outside of it.“

I got rum punch another a margarita. Both nice and tasty. Our 3rd person wanted food. The sharable portions were just what we needed. They have something for everyone at Ale or Wine, no matter what you drink. They also have one of the best burgers in the city and you can quote me on that.I love going to Ale to watch a Pelicans games on one of their many TVs, and they open early for Tulane and LSU games sometimes too. The staff is very friendly and provide great service. Also the bathrooms are always clean. There are all sorts of people that come to Ale, whether they are locals, couples on a casual first date, a local business having a staff party, or a group of friends grabbing a drink before a show at the Maple Leaf.“

It is a beautiful indoor setting, with plenty of tables for guests to mingle outside. At first, we were a bit worried that the space might be too small, but we had a six-piece band, and ice cream sundae bar, and still more than plenty of room to dance, for guests to hang out at their tables, and to walk around and mingle. We found out the day of the wedding that one of our guests was vegan. When we asked the chef if there were any vegan options on the buffet that we had planned, he went out of his way to make her an entire beautiful, custom vegan dinner. We thought this was absolutely above and beyond and we are so thankful to the chef! Brittani was wonderful to work with throughout the planning process, and Patsy was incredible on the day of.
