This is a dishonest/bait-n-switch place with deceptive managers/staff, who mislead patrons in order to get more money out of them. On Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 5pm, I went here for a business meeting and sat in the bar area for "Happy Hour." I was first told that "Happy Hour" prices were ONLY available AT the bar (instead of at our small two-top next to the bar, but still in the bar area). However, I asked the manager if we could still get "Happy Hour" prices since we were in the bar area. He assured us, YES. That he would definitely give us "Happy Hour" prices on both food and drink. Long story short, after 4 hours of eating/drinking, we were given a bill of FULL PRICES! I foolishly just paid it because I was talking and didn't discover the deception until the next day. I was overcharged $65! As of Feb. 4, I have called six times to speak to a manager, asking someone/anyone to call me back. NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. I will NEVER go to this rip-off/deceptive place again.

I wanted to like Spanish Diner since I'm a huge fan of Jaleo and of Jose Andres, but the food was so lacking in finesse and taste, even for a diner. Patatas bravas was drowning in tomato sauce (I could barely taste the potato or aoli) and the bacalao over eggplant and tomato sauce had little flavor. The ham and cheese was tasty, but nothing to say "Spain" about it...mediocre food accompanied by a hefty price tag will keep me from going back. I'm so sad that Jose Andres missed the mark on this one, unfortunately.
