“One of the best restaurants I’ve ate at in a long time, I took my wife here on our 8yr anniversary. We are not from the area and just took a guess as to which place would be good in town. We loved the wine selection and enjoyed our waiter.“

“Dave's Dark Horse Tavern was a gem my wife and I found but had previously passed up because we thought it was a place connected in with the Red Roof Inn located near it. We decided to take a gamble and give them a visit anyway.Y'all this is the reason we live for gambles and so glad we did. This place was a hole in a wall with an AMAZING ambience, great group activities like darts and pool, live music, great bar selections, and CRAZY delicious food. Needless to say, we doubled back 2 nights in a row.My wife is vegan and I'm vegetarian so we have been pretty limited on places that serve anything but a veggie burger for us and typical sides around Starkville. When we took the menu into our hands and saw falafel, hummus, veggie burger, cauliflower buffalo wings, cauliflower buffalo wrap, veggie pizza, etc. They CLEARLY took the time to look out for their vegan and vegetarian crowd and not just grab veggie meat burgers and call it a win. They also have great desserts and drinks on brew and top shelf. The beignets were as the French would probably say - un petit bout de paradis .If you are in Starkville, do yourself a "flavor" and make this one of your stops for an experience and meal that definitely won't disappoint. ?️ #HappyEatingVegetarian options: Calzone, Buffalo Cauliflower (wings & wraps), Hummus, Falafel (alone or wrap), Fries, Cheese Fries, Queso, Quesadilla, Beignets, etcDietary restrictions: Gluten freeParking: Parking is shared with the Red Roof Inn customers so sometimes you will need to be parked in front of rooms - which may feel a little weird. I was a bit weirded out the first time but not so bad your second time around and so forth.“

“Another great experience today at Walk-On's in Starkville. Have been a "regular" since they opened, and for good reason. Very friendly staff with great work ethic, and food is always awesome.“

“I love Newks because the food is great, tasty, and quite different from anything you get elsewhere. The service is always friendly and efficient. There is no ridiculously loud music playing. You can actually carry on conversation while you eat, unlike dining at Peppers which I find painful.“

“The third place I tried during my tenure, working at Ackerman. The food was okay, I had a Panini patty melt, As they did not have the ability to make my Manhattan I had a Gin and tonic. It was good. Service was excellent. As far as value it was certainly very reasonable.“

“The new location is much better! Modern beautiful decor and ambiance. It was super busy after the baseball game and our service was very slow but that was understandable although I would highly recommend more staffing for big events. We started out with the grilled Caesar salad which I found delicious but would Have asked for the dressing to be light as it was a lot. We both had the 8 oz filet which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. For sides between us we got creamed spinach, potatoes, greens and French fries. My creamed spinach was creme with a few flakes of spinach. The greens were heavy with bacon and my mash potatoes were very seasoned as well. I realize, since MS is my hometown, that heavy cream, sauces, and seasonings are a delicacy in MS but I prefer to really taste my food. I would also recommend more bland sides like a simple baked or roasted potatoes and lightly seasoned veggies for those who don't want their food drenched. Overall, we would go again maybe when less crowded“

“Nice place, pleasant service team. I cannot give more punctuation because I feel really cold inside.I had a Philly, much better than some I have had in Philadelphia.. The only way I think it could be improved would be by adding extra green pepper chopped and fried with the onion, but each own mileage may vary.It is a place I will visit again, for sure!.“

“Classic diner, overflowing with nostalgia, local pride, and people waiting (I did visit on a football gameday morning). Nice experience. I would bet the people at the tables next to me had been coming there for many decades. The "duck butter" syrup was a fun quirk.“
“Nice small town feel, good breakfast nothing gourmet but filling. The pace is slow dine in, my son and I stopped here for a bite to eat before a medical appointment and we were able to have some quality time visiting. Restaurant is not loud, would be a great place to meet and enjoy a bite with a family member. Elderly would probably eat this place up. Good service.“

“They have reopened in the Research Park for a lunch buffet and now are doing a breakfast buffet. The lunch is usually good and well attended during the week. We just tried breakfast for the first time and it was good as well. The sausage was delicious and tasted homemade. The star was the biscuit. It was tall, fluffy and buttery. We'll for sure be coming back.“

“Amazing amazing amazing! Just grabbed a rack of ribs for my son's 16 birthday. We absolutely love this place. Good prices, excellent bbq, nice folks, and quick to pickup! I only wish they didn't run out of food so quickly, but that's a good thing right?“

“Nothing wrong with the food here. Went in at 9:15, 45 minutes to close, and the food was still fresh and the staff was friendly and helpful. Got the deluxe seafood platter with a small side of clam strips. Everything I wanted and more than I expected quality wise. It really is very good if you like seafood.“

“Trinity was absolutely incredible. My extremely drunk girlfriend was too shy to ask for a fork and Trinity overheard her say “I don’t wanna ask” and immediately turned around from cooking and saw my girlfriend eating her eggs with her hands and grabbed her a fork even though it wasn’t her job. The food was also perfect.“

“I visited this place with my sister and nieces. The food was amazing. My sister ordered the $25 burger. She didn’t try to finish it within the 12 minutes; she ate almost half of it while we were sitting. Everyone enjoyed their food. The nachos were yummy. The server or hostess was good. It was an overall great experience for us in Mississippi.“

“When I attended grad school in Starkville, Rosey Baby was a cool place to get good food. Nothing has changed. Our bartender, Ava, was friendly and helpful. I ordered a bowl of shrimp gumbo. One of the best gumbos I’ve tasted! From a boy from Louisiana: Justin, you killed it!“

“I went there for lunch and got their Blue Plate/ Lunch special ( It was the Fried Chicken with crawfish sauce, mashed potatoes, butter beans, 2 pieces of French bread and unsweetened tea. The picture attached is where I had a couple of bites before taking it. So the food presentation was A+. Jake my Server was definitely on top with everything and was very professional and quick with my requests. Definitely recommend him as a Server if you are visiting there. I also got the desert which was the Tiramisu with vanilla bean ice cream. It was also excellent. This has been my 3rd time there and they did not disappoint.“
