“We had dinner last night. As a 15 year + customer, I can see the new owners changes. Food slipped a bit - the tuna special was good, but was a cheaper cut of fish than in prior years, and grits and salsa were really mashed potatoes and oil. Atmosphere slipped - Cheesy paintings on the walls instead of classic rock and blue album covers, and most annoying - blaring Country and Western Music. In 15 years, I barely noticed the music - but you gotta be kidding me - the place is loud already and personally, constant C&W music annoys me. Also, the iconic specials chalk board is replaced by cheesy TV screens. The place lost its vibe, and food is declining. I will try it again, but no longer my favorite restaurant.“

“I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the SaltBox Cafe. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff was very polite and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portion was perfect for me. My coffee was kept topped off and warm. The other patrons that were regulars had a little banter going on with the staff that just added to the charm of this little Cafe. I would definitely recommend it and will return!“

“Overall, I had a mixed experience. While the porkchop had good flavor, it was unfortunately overcooked and a bit dry. However, the smashed potatoes were excellent, offering a savory complement to the main dish as well as the fried mac and cheese. The service was exceptional; the waitress was friendly and accommodating, even going the extra mile to include a generous piece of cake to make up for the dry porkchop. The atmosphere of the restaurant was delightful, especially as I dined upstairs, which provided a refreshing change of pace and offered a unique view of a small backyard through the window. Despite the culinary misstep with the porkchop, the overall experience was pleasant, thanks to the attentive service and enjoyable ambiance. Highly recommend all their deserts.“

“I posted my review on X because I honestly loved the food and atmosphere here. Everything is fried, but I think that one day a year, it doesn't hurt and I'm not going to deny myself the experience. As an appetizer I recommend the CAJUN FRIED CHEESE CURDS served with jamaican jerk aioli, it is a dish that I did not know and that my new friends invited me to try. The truth is that they were delicious, to be honest, I would have eaten the entire basket by myself. Another interesting starter is the fried pickles with ranch sauce. My friend can't eat beef, so her favorite is a chicken fillet burger that I was able to try and it is phenomenal. My selection was the FRIED OYSTERSlightly golden fried with spicy remoulade and lemon (fried oysters) more out of curiosity than anything else. They didn't disappoint me, I was already into eating everything fried. But if you don't want that much fat in a single day, there are also raw, baked and grilled oysters on the menu. Another thing I loved is that you can choose not just one, but two sides of hand-cut fries or mashed potatoes (dinner only). Another option is coleslaw (to appease the conscience). I chose the fries and macaroni and cheese to complete the American experience. The service is fast and very friendly. The prices are reasonable. Something I liked is that I ordered my drink half with sugar and half without sugar and that's how they brought it to me. I'm still not used to zero sugar, but that's where I'm at.Observation: I wanted to take my family on a Sunday at 7:45 at night but it was closed. Google says they close at 9 so this really surprised me.“

“Best Carolina BBQ sandwich I’ve had and everything just hits and hits hard. I drive two hours from VA Beach to eat here and get the taste of home. Worth the wait times when busy, for those who are upset about this and that coming out first.. understand it’s not a sit down restaurant with servers, ya order and they make it and sling the next ticket. This place slaps. No Cap!Kid-friendliness: It’s outdoors! Bring the kids, pop a squat and enjoy. Heck, if tables are all taken up, take your beach towel, find a spot and chow down.“

“Ordered breakfast sandwiches, smoothie and donuts from Kill Devil Hills location today. Asked for ketchup for the sandwiches and they said they had none and do not plan on providing ketchup in the future. I am a local. May not come back if they do not provide ketchup. Large double storefront just opened here in KDH and plenty of room for inside tables but no tables. Hopefully these issues will be corrected so I can take my granddaughter to this store again.“

“Truth be told, I have never been to this establishment, but like most, I read the incredible story of the owner driving across state lines to deliver a last meal. The breakfast burrito (a regular breakfast item) and a selection from the new brunch menu - smoked, pulled pork over fried grit cakes with bourbon bbq sauce are our favorites so far! This hidden gem is well worth a visit!“

I went ahead and called an order ahead for carry out. It was right on time. Wasn’t running late, ready as soon as I got there. There are a lot of sales around, but only some are in my opinion traditional cells, pizzas, and this place was authentic. The staff was so nice and the food was delicious. It is located right on the beach road mile 10 it is definitely worth the trip and it is definitely worth the price!“

“Easter breakfast was our first time at Henry's. It was by far one of the best breakfast experiences we've had. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel like family. Christina couldn't have been more accommodating...making sure everything was to our liking, without being overbearing. And it was the little things that mattered. May sound silly to most, but having syrup on the table for your flapjacks...when ordering hot tea, they bring you a cup of hot water, a tea bag, PLUS a silver container of hot water to place your "used" tea bag in, should you desire another cup of tea. Also, creamer was right on the table. The menu even made sense...build your own omelet.....you pay for what you want! It seemed like all the Employees chipped in. I never saw anyone just standing around. We will certainly be back, and refer folks we know to Henry's. Thank you.“

I ordered the French dip, and my husband ordered the El Diablo burger. Flavor and portions were on point. “Best little breakfast deli in the OBX!!! Me and my fiancé come here almost every morning every time we visit the outer banks, and the food is always amazing and not over priced like a lot of other places around here. We've also come here for lunch too, and i love their fried seafood baskets, i particularly like the fried oyster basket, they definitely give you your moneys worth in food. There's not really anywhere to sit inside since it's more of an in-and-out type of place, but they do have picnic tables right outside that we sit at when it's nice outside. The people working here are also always so nice and welcoming, which always makes us wanna come back too. This place is 10/10 and I rave about it to everyone.“
