The other staff were friendly as well.We ordered calamari for appetizers and salmon+seafood pasta for our main courses. We also had refreshing mocktails. EVERYTHING was delicious and flavorful. The icing on the cake was dining on the rooftop terrace. Although we went during the day, the vibes were definitely there and the views were amazing. “I read one review that said “food was fiat”. I’m stunned by that. Food is bursting with flavors: fennel, garlic, fresh dill, cilantro, candied nuts, etc… it’s really delicious and beautifully presented, very appetizing. The atmosphere is what I loved the best, it’s unpretentious, quiet, pretty, fun. Our waitress was really friendly, giving us advice, joking with us. A must in Raleigh!”

“My first time dining for my husband 50th birthday. Our waitress Destinee was amazing. She provided us with a detailed history of the house where the restaurant is operating out of built in 1879. Destinee made wonderful food recommendations and made our celebration a memorable one. The food was delicious from first course lump crab salad to quail. Our main course dishes were beautiful plated with French influences. Also I have to add their chef is one of the best in the area. We can't wait until our next special celebration. Thanks again!”

Highly recommend sourcing from the starters and sides to get the most variety, unless you wish to commit to the steak or full entree. Oysters and acorn squash were a great combo. I appreciated the ability to do a GF dessert (elevated ice cream sundae!) to top off the night. Thank you!!”

Dos Taquitos 6101 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh Mexican • $$

“Right when you walk inside this place makes an impression! It looks like Arizona dering Día de los Muertos, it feels like a dead man's party. The regular salsa is refreshing and I can never stop dipping in it. The food is so good, like the arroz con pollo, which is just like half a seasoned chicken instead of dry white meat. The enchiladas de puebla are also great. My favorite by far is the carnitas, you can't find anything like it on this side of the country. The pork is braised in beer and is just magical. And yes there is a train, and yes everyone loves it. The wait can be very very long on the weekends, but the staff are always very friendly so I never mind too much. It's not too expensive so I think it's honestly the best restaurant in Raleigh for families! They also help promote small business sometimes, like they used to sell really good chocolate for this Columbine guy. Anyway, this place is good and you must go or ELSE! Last thing, I think the restaurant has changed hands because it has gotten way better in the last couple years.Parking: The parking is actually pretty iffy. It gets packed to the point of no spots, but you can just go park in the shopping center.Kid-friendliness: There is a bar but it's mostly split from the tables. Side note, the tortillas are really good ?”

“So excited to finally try!!! Decor was so Miami and we loved it! GM was star player in establishment. Carpaccio was one of the best I ever had. We did dover sole as Mid course it was good but way too many bones def just need better execution. Steak was excellent but we never received any of our sides which was ok we over ordered. Desserts were great cheesecake we even got second to go it was so yummy. Paid for but never got our dessert wine cause we felt bad saying something twice. Espresso martini was ok. Wine list great, whatever the lilac cocktail I had was in beginning was so good I got two. Server was a doll which made up for all the things that never happened. Watching open kitchens usually makes me crazy but in this case it was very impressive. Few things to work on, but overall for NC good job!!!”

“Stopped at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. If you're a vegetarian your options are really only salads or the butternut squash ravioli, but don't let this deter you from coming. The butternut squash ravioli was the best ravioli I've ever had. It was rich and creamy with the perfect mix of mushroom and sweetness from the squash. The marinated avocado salad was delicious as well. I don't usually like blue cheese but it was very mild in this dish. The people I was with ordered the pot pie which they said was great. The service was also great and everyone was extremely friendly. Would 100% recommend.”

“My husband and I shared a dim sum appetizer, entree and vegetable dish. Portions are generous. The cabbage roll appetizer & Chinese broccoli were both excellent. The General Pao chicken was average. The craft beer selection was extensive and we tasted several before ordering. Our server was very attentive and consulted the chef for several questions. The downside of the service was a few too many visits to our table when we were clearly not in a hurry to order. We prefer a more leisurely pace!”

Pita Bowl 9101 Leesville Rd #141, Raleigh Mediterranean • $

“This is my second time getting Pita Bowl for lunch and it is quickly becoming my new favorite lunch spot! I always order ahead of time and it is always ready within 5-10 minutes of my requested order time. The inside is decent sized with tables and hightop seating. There is outside seating as well. Everything comes out warm because it is made fresh and that translates into the amazing flavor! We have gotten pita bowls both times, one with chicken shawarma and one with shaved lamb. Both meat options were phenomenal, flavorful, and warm at pickup. All the toppings are delicious, many to choose from, and you can get as many as you want with no extra charge! The cilantro potatoes come out crispy and hot, so those are always a great topping. Dipping the warm pita bread in the garlic sauce and tzatziki is another favorite of mine here. Highly recommend and will be back for more lunches!”

“Look here if you want a family, friendly place, and more than two people eating this is the spot. The lamb is ridiculous ridiculously tender the chicken, well season the tea Bussin, that tea low-key almost taste like fruity pebbles so good, you will have to pay a pretty penny when you go, but you will leave with almost 2 days worth of food. I like the little lounge area at the end of the restaurant where you can chill eat tall fellowship and just enjoy yourself. I’ve eaten here two times already both times the consistency of the product was there. as far as display being a date spot make sure it’s a double date. There is plenty of parking in the back only downside is is at night time is not super super well lit but they do have lights. Oh, I am going back again soon.. I almost forgot to tell you about the rice ..both types of rice that they have you can’t go wrong and the flat Bread is banging too. Sometimes it takes a good little while to get you your food but I think it’s because they prepare a lot of food. Last, but not least they serve you in courses, which is another reason why your mail is pricey. Let me correct myself. It’s bang for your book it’s not pricey.Parking: The parking is in the back of the restaurant you won’t see it from the front so don’t get too scared. The parking is free 99. MOFU Dumpling Shoppe 321 S Blount St, Raleigh Asian Fusion • $$

“I recently visited MOFU Dumpling Shoppe located in downtown Raleigh and had a largely enjoyable experience. The dumplings here are a true delight, each bite filled with amazing flavors. The service matched the quality of the food—efficient and friendly, making the dining experience smooth and pleasant. However, it's worth noting that the pricing at MOFU Dumpling Shoppe feels a bit steep. While the food is good, the value proposition might not sit well with everyone. Specially in Raleigh. Additionally, the location of the restaurant might be a concern for some. The surrounding of this specific area of downtown Raleigh has seen better days and currently feels a bit less welcoming due to the presence of a somewhat sketchy vibe. This aspect might affect the overall appeal of the restaurant to potential visitors looking for a comfortable and relaxed dining environment. Overall, if you're in for the food and service and don't mind spending a bit more, MOFU Dumpling Shoppe offers some delicious options. However, do consider the surrounding area when planning your visit.”

“We ate here for our anniversary and really enjoyed it! We made reservations for 2 at the bar because all the table reservations before 9 pm were full, but when we arrived, a table was open and offered to us, which was really nice! (LIkely, we also would have been happy at the bar, but I'm pregnant, so the comfy booth seat was welcome.) The service was superlative, both from our attentive server and others who jumped in any time they walked by and saw something that could be done. The non-alcoholic cocktail was fantastic! Both food and drink menus are curated rather than extensive. We are parents of a small child who rarely get out to restaurants, so when we do go, we love to taste a variety of options on the menu. Your ordering style may vary. For starters, we ordered the yellowfin crudo (a standout and possibly the best dish from my perspective) and crispy porcelet belly (very tasty, although the skin was more tough and chewy than crispy). The manchego-herb biscuits were amazing in taste and texture, like, how do they do that? For entrees, we had the lamb loin and bavette steak. My lamb was nice, but the flavor of the steak dish (my husband's) was unreal. (Normally, I would have ordered the seafood, but the only option was swordfish, and I had already used up my weekly serving of potentially-high-in-mercury seafood with the yellowfin crudo, worth it!) After sharing two appetizers, biscuits, and an entree each, we were really full. However, I had been anticipating the triple cheesecake with rhubarb, so we got a portion to go. It was unusual - very strong on the savory cheese flavor in the cake - but we both really liked it. (Would I have liked more rhubarb? Yes, but I love rhubarb, and not everyone agrees. Rhubarb skeptics, this is a safe dish for you.) Two starters, two entrees, a side, two drinks each, and one dessert put our total just north of $200. Not a huge consideration for us, but it's a small-ish space with dark decor and modern, minimal lighting. I've spoken with others who remembered it as a bit cramped. The music is... not quiet... with prominent bass, but we sat next to each other and were able to talk. We definitely plan to go back. Edited to add: We were also really impressed by the short ticket times! Our food came out very promptly, and we finished three courses and had our take-out dessert ready to go in just over an hour. We also didn't feel rushed, as though we could have lingered without any pressure from the server to free up the table. As folks who no longer get out much, that's a huge plus.”

“I have been hearing rave reviews on tik tock and online. So I took my lady to try it out. The risotto balls were just "ok" to me. The Chopped Italian Salad was excellent then the star showed up....the Chicken Parmesan. The Chicken Parm was also excellent . The service was excellent. We had a great time.”

Figulina 317 S Harrington St, Raleigh Italian • $$$

“Figulina has done an excellent job transforming the Humble Pie space into a pasta-making Mecca. You can watch the chefs hard at work making wells in dough and forming the sheets for ravioli and agnolotti. Our service was a bit spotty but the food was wonderful. We tried the Doppio Ravioli, which was delectable with roasted carrots in half and rabbit confit in the other. The Pappardelle Bolognese was also hearty and flavorful. We also tried the Brussels which are served in a cold salad and the beets with whipped ricotta. My dinner companions did not love the soda bread that came with the lamb rillette but the dish itself was tasty. We will definitely be back for more of the fresh Italian pasta with an English twist!”

Flavor Hills 319 Fayetteville St Suite 105, Raleigh Southern

“Best customer service I had in a long time. Brianna was a great server, ask for her. My friend and I went on a Wednesday evening, it was busy but comfortable. They had a live artist. The art all over the walls create a really nice vibe. The kitchen was a little slow but nothing too serious considering the crowd. The drinks aren’t worth the price but the food… amazing. A week later and I’m still thinking about the peach cobbler. Will definitely be back.”

“I RARELY give out full five stars but Zaxby’s deserves it! We go there at least once a week (my husband and I) and order the loaded (chicken bacon ranch) fries! It SAYS a side item but it’s more of an actual meal than a side. I LOVE them and can’t get enough!! Way To Go Zaxby’s!Kid-friendliness: They DO have a kids menu!”

Epic Wings 8107 Creedmoor Rd Suite 105, Raleigh Chicken Wings • $

“So excited this place came to the East Coast.. Another banger from Southern California (used to be called Wings N' Things)! My family loves this place. The strips with breadsticks are to die for with the ranch dressing. Something about the combination of the three.. The staff here have all been extremely kind to us when we have got or orders to pickup. We did have an issue with the correct amount of breadsticks however it was quickly taken care of and they even gave us a treat due to the mix up. Very clean bathrooms and lobby area.”

“We wanted pasta and bread but didn’t want to sit down at an Italian restaurant. This was the perfect quick dinner. Kinda of reminds you of Chipotle/Cava but for pastas. They have bowls and wraps too but their garlic Parmesan bread was amazing! They made our salmon to order so there was a little bit of a wait but it was worth it— the best FAST CASUAL salmon we’ve ever had! ?”

“UPDATE: I have the pizza another chance after realizing the first time I had the pizza, I was sick due to COVID which coincided with the timing of the pizza. So my apologies. The pizza made us sick. We had loose bowels and throw up middle of the night. The flavor of the pizza and wings is legitimately good though.”
