My partner and I were denied service due to a service animal, which are protected under the ADA (Federal Law) and NC’s expanded Service Animal protections (State Law). Owner/management refused to cooperate even after being made aware of their inability to legally deny service. They then refused to provide necessary details / owner information, and even refused to believe the local Law Enforcement Officers after being repeatedly told by them that no amount of “no pets” signs or personal dislike for dogs can overrule state and federal law. Not only do I not recommend this place to people with disabilities, but I recommend against them even for those without need for special accommodations and/or protection under the law. The owner and/or management is unacceptably non-compliant with laws which they find conflicts with their self interest or desires. Such behavior makes me wonder about their ability and willingness to comply with any given laws they do not agree with — after all, OSHA regulations, food safety codes, and other “pesky” applicable laws can be such an inconvenience. Even if they’re fully compliant in every other way, however, they are not a morally upstanding business, which they showed by their behavior and actions during our attempted visit, and later, in their unwillingness to take any accountability even while talking to the LEOs. I’m the kind of person who doesn’t take kindly to discrimination, and people should know what businesses are like in these situations. As such, I’ll ensure my review is left on every platform where someone might find their business — I have no doubt they will do the same thing to the next person with a disability who may not be as willing to stand up for their rights or have an advocate on their side. Unacceptable!

I would have loved to eat here. The food looks good and it has good reviews. Unfortunately my partner and I were refused service due to my service dog. They were fine taking our order until we stated we were dining in. I informed the owner my dog was a service animal (who was vested and has patches identifying him as one). He didn’t care and insisted we couldn’t eat in the restaurant with the dog. Even after explaining the law, he refused and told us it was his rules in the restaurant. We called to file a report with the local police and the owner even got upset and refused to listen to them. He told them my dog smelled bad and his wife was allergic to dogs (neither of these things were told to me in the initial interaction). I will be filing a complaint with the DOJ and ADA. Heaven forbid this happens to someone with a cardiac or diabetic or allergy alert dog. In short, don’t eat here if you need any kind of accommodation.
