It's good! I'm a midwesterner at heart and so in my head, most BBQ falls short of Kansas City. So, yeah. Brisket was great, beans were... Fine? Good spot when passing thru town. Not sure I'd make a special trip? But yeah, it's pretty alright.Vegetarian options: Virtually none. Most everything is done in bacon fat.
We had heard about The Pit. The food, service and ambience did not disappoint. Our server was outstanding! He answered all our questions about the various dishes. I'm a vegan, my wife is a meat lover and daughter just loves savory foods. Our server was able to provide information about certain sides that might contain meat or cooked in the same pan as meat. The Pit remains consistently good with excellent chopped Barbecue. The sweet potato casserole, beans, sweet tea, and slaw are all very good. The Pit gives truly excellent biscuits and hush puppies to the table, so save room.The bar next door is kind of loud, even inside. Lots of parking available in the area.Wheelchair accessibility: ADA compliant though sidewalks may be somewhat rough.
