“I drive past Poormans Restaurant every day going to work, and I rarely stop. This past Saturday, I decided to place a takeout order and was pleasantly surprised at how friendly the young lady was, who took my order. Restaurants and the food service industry in general have really been on the decline as far as customer service goes and the basics of just greeting the customers. So to my surprise, when I went in to pick up my order, the restaurant was very crowded and there was a long line to check out and again the couple of people working the register and prepping the food order were so friendly, so nice so patient. It was very refreshing to see good service for a change. The food is great. I left them a good tip in the jar and I will be back!“

“Amazing establishment in the downtown historic district. The restaurant is in an old bank and the bar has all the alcohol in the vault, very cool layout. Food was next level, very well curated and flavors were on point. Can’t wait to try another dish.“
“I live in Raleigh but like to visit Little Washington a few times a year. The Hackney has been on my "to-eat" list, and I finally made it there. I am so glad that I did. It is an Autumn approved restaurant. The historic building is beautiful & was restored very nicely. The space has great energy. I loved the music that they were playing & the big windows. The food was delish! I had the fish & chips. The tartare hollandaise was amazing. I am still thinking about it days later. For dessert, I had vanilla creme brulee which is one of my favorites. It was very well done. I had the New Year, New Mule cocktail to go with it. The cocktail was so tasty. I didn't think that I was really a gin fan, but I would totally order that drink again. After my meal, Chef Davis came out to ask me how everything was & chatted with me for a few minutes. That was classy & made my day. He is good people.I will definitely be going back to The Hackney for a second visit. I love supporting local establishments that excel at what they do. I will encourage others to visit as well.Parking: There is street parking right out front, or there is a parking lot a few blocks away. Both are free.Kid-friendliness: I love kids but wouldn't bring them here. This is a grown up experience.“

“Ambience is wonderful. Lunch. Food was overpriced with small servings. Not a place for locals to go and have a chat and an affordable drink. Left hungry. Do not plan to go back unless prices are lowered and you can purchase a glass of wine for less than $13.00.“
“Absolutely phenomenal! Cant say a bad thing about this restaurant. Cozy vibe, live music and comfortable seating. Food was out of this world, I had the flank steak and my boyfriend had the lamb chop. Shared the bourbon apple pie for dessert, best I’ve ever had. This is our new favorite restaurant!!! Our waiter, Christian was exceptional, we would go back just to see him!! Great night.“

“We enjoyed visiting the Mulberry so much. We started downstairs where we met Sydney who was very kind and helped us out not only with our visit but also taking the time to help us find somewhere to stay for the night. Then we ventured upstairs to visit the rooftop where we met Colin and Lexi who served us while we sat at the bar for a couple drinks and some appetizers. Colin was a joy to talk to and hear about all of the interesting things he’s done and is doing. We followed that up with dinner downstairs where we enjoyed the ribs and the French onion soup.“
